Bart - Just checking in on your progress today. For what it's worth, the car always ran rich when I had it as well. I would say I changed plugs every 1000 miles or so (that was like once a year) because I could never seem to set the carbs lean enough. Also had trouble with the choke not fully closing ... but I'm sure you remedied that already with the carb rebuild. Regarding the vibration over 70, I don't think it's the tires as I recall a minor shake as wel,l and that was on the prior set of tires. Good luck. Alan

Hi Bart. Thanks for all the updates and pictures of the 240. I'm glad to hear you'll soon be enjoying her on the road. It looks good with European plates!! I'll check again to see if I can turn up anything on Steve Campbell. Was there anything on the paperwork that indicated his middle name or initial?

Robert, obviously we have exchanged messages previously since you had additional pictures of the Z. Hopefully you found a great car since we last talked. Sadly, there is no Z car in my garage right now, but you never know what the future holds - I dare say, it might be a 350Z roadster ... Anyway, I bought Bart's 240 from Steve Campbell in about 2003. Steve lived down the street from me when I lived in Kansas. He had owned her for something like 17 years prior, but it had been sitting in his garage idle for a long time before I bought it and toke it home ... 3 blocks away. I'm betting Steve would like to hear from Bart and find out his Z is in good hands in the Netherlands! I've lost track of Steve but I doubt he would be hard to find. On the other hand, I never had and contact with the original owner and I'm not sure if there was anyone else before Campbell. It will be interesting to hear what develops! I'd be willing to help if needed as well. Alan V.
  4. I know your posting about engine paint colors here but, for what it is worth, my ... errr ... I mean YOUR 240Z is painted in a Subaru color --- from about 2004 as I recall! Alan V.

Hi Bart - Alan VanGundy here - previous owner of your '71 before it crossed the pond! It's great to have found you and hear these updates on "my" 240! As a couple other members noted, I had the car for sale locally but ended up selling it to Stolze on Ebay. When the car left on an auto transport to the Netherlands, I figured it was the last time I would see it or hear of it. Small world indeed! I had found pictures of it on Stolze's website but I'm glad to learn it has found a permenant home. I was on these forums regularly when I owned the Z but haven't been around much since selling it. Imagine my surprise today when I found your comment on the Youtube video and finding this thread on Classic Z. I imagine it might have equaled your surprise when you found YOUR 240 on Youtube! Anyway, I have owned several "classic" cars and always appreciated knowing their history so I'm glad you received the paperwork I sent along with the car. I'll be happy to chat with you more and share comments on the car. Alan V.
  6. Not long ago, I was driving my 240 daily. Occasionally, while driving, the tach would drop to zero and instantly revieve - like the car was going to die but didn't. I thought this happened most often over a large bump. After a displaying the above symptom for a couple months, the car would begin to die while idling -- no sputtering just instantly off. At first, it would always restart. Now, I've had to pull it home twice and it basically will not stay running longer than five minutes and is hard to restart. It will start for a split second (sounding really strong) but again die out instantly. It must be an electrical issue but I'm not sure where to start and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'd like to repair it myself but I don't like replacing parts on a trial and error basis! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Alan
  7. A good healthy mix here: '71 240z '74 Triumph TR6 '67 Cutlass '57 Studebaker Hawk and '97 Dakota
  8. Not sure where you are at but, this car is located about 30 minutes from me. I would be interested myself if I had the space. Send me a message if you are serious about this car. I would love an excuse to go check it out.

Having just put V.B. aftermarket seals on my '71 and experienced the same problem of not being able to close the doors, I definetly recommend OEM. I finally got the passenger door to close completely but the drivers door will still only latch to the first click - and the seals have been on about two weeks!
  10. You must've just picked the wrong day to ask a question cremenga! I see your a recent joining member. Welcome to the club. I say, no question is a stupid question.....well almost!
  11. Thanks guys. Autocolorlibrary.com is the one I was thinking of.
  12. Speaking of paint, a while back someone posted a link to site where you could search all the new and old paint chip catalogs for automotive paint chips. I believe it was associated with one of the big paint manufactures. Anyway, I can't seem to locate the link again. Does anybody have it? Thanks!
