  2. Yeah get a set of jumper leads connect one to the positive battery post, and touch the other end of it to the positive terminal on the starter motor solenoid. Thats the little cylinder thing on top of the starter motor. This will crank the engine over, so be warned. Engine shouldnt run without a fusable link though.

I've had 2 1972 Aussie 240z and neither of them had the front indicators.

  8. Make that 3 after market parts. You have 280ZX (series 2) Bonnet vents grafted into your S30 bonet! But I see you already know that. Didn't Fairladys have rear orange indicators?
  9. They quite possibly made all the panels in the press without holes, then used a separate press to stamp out the holes in the panels after they had been formed into shape by the first press.

Matt was there with his Blue 240z. Its up for sale if anyone in perth (or Australia) is interested. Other than that, there were 2 260z's that were there last time you were there. Includings Ken's immaculate fully restored 260z 2+2.

I'm in perth too. I'm at the beginning of my 240z resto. Its taking a long time as i'm doing all the work myself, because i want it done properly ( and i'm cheap). WA Z car register (www.wazcars.com) had thier first meeting last sunday (25/1/) at rosies in south perth. Visit the site and send Vauhan an email and he will add you to the email list, so that you get notified of up coming events. We have a Z day once a year. I still have pics of the 2003 zed day at http://vianet.net.au/~craig/car-pics/ Definately have a look at the photos. I'll be upgradign the website soon, if i get any free time between working and fixing my Z up. Hayden, what your excuse for not being at the pub on sunday?

The weight differance between a 260z and a 280z is so small its hardly worth talking about. THe Ll26 and L28 block are the same, except the 280 has a larger bore, so it would probably weigh less. The reason the 260z gets the bad rap it the power rating. 139BHP comared to the 240z 151BHP. The 240z was lighter because it didnt have air conditioning. So you go from a light car with 151bhp To a heavier car with 139BHP. wich doesnt to much for the power to weight ratio, and was seen as a backwards step. The 280z was released to compensate the the 260z deficiencies. Similar (if not the same ) weight, and lots more power. (Cant remember the power rating of the L28, wasnt it around 175bhp?) This was in the US only. Australian 260z had the higher power L26, so we didnt need the increased displacemnet of the L28 to make up for the added weight.
  13. Cool, Maybe i could get one of those engines to go with these......

Now you're just taking the wizz, aren't you Craig.
  15. Is that not just a silvia with a 180sx front end? Kinda the opposite of a sil180? via-sx maybe?
  16. Can I put my 260z 2+2 front struts on my 240z. Well, I know i can, what i mean is will the front of the car sit at the same level as the 240s struts? Are ths stru tubes the same length. I know the rears are longer so dont bother telling me, i already knew that.
  17. Chec the fuses and the fuse box for loose connections, then try the ignition switch. When the key is in start position, power to all the accessories is cut off to provide more cranking amps. Theoretically, when you release the key ,the spring returns the switch back to the "on "position and all your accessories are switched back on. But things can wear out on 30 year old cars. It sound like the switch isn't returning to the on position propperly, so your accessories arent getting power. Next time it happens, try applying some pressure to the key as if you were turning the engine off, but not enough to put it back to the acc position and see if you get the accessoris back.

P.S. Does that red one has 260z front fenders? Aussie 240z didnt need the in fender indicators, just the lower one below the bumber was enough. Whats the story with NZ cars. Thought they would be be pretty much the same. USA 240z had front indicators and rear side markers.

What up with his badges being the wrong way around? I have a set of those exact same mags, got a side on pic of the car. I wanna see what they look like. I have a choice of 2 sets of mags at the moment. Check out the hand throttle!:classic: Maybe Terry will let you have the other zed cheap after he's taken off all the good bits.

I bet the finance company wasn't impressed. They got back a half bastardised 350z that they wouldn't get half the sticker price for. Would have made more sence to put twin turbos in the 3.5 V6 than to reduce the engine to almost 1 liter less and try and make up for it by increasing the boost.
  22. I had the exact same problem with my headlight lug, or tit as you like to call it.

I'm guessing one would be the EGR pipe from the top of the cam cover.
  24. You should have seen some of the concept drawings!! Thank god it didnt look like any of them! It looks conservative compared to some of the concepts. I still like my photoshopped 350z better.
  25. 280zx turbo mags 15" (swastika mags): Mags i've seen Aussie 280zx 6spoke Ive also seen these, but they were on my mates '80 2000GT skyline. Dont remember seeing them on a 280zx in australia: Iron Cross wheels http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=69073
