  1. Drove past it again last night on the way home from work. Its been almost totaly stripped from what i can see. No suspension, no wheels, so moving it might be a bit of a problem.
  2. Here is a pic of the blue one
  3. I almost bought a 280zx in bits a couple of months ago for the L28 engine. But decided not to. The owner was asking $500. On the weekend I was crusing around my suburb and spotted what i think was the same car outside a house. Its just the chassis, no bonnet, etc. I Could drop in for you and see if the owner wants to sell it. I figure they probably bought it for parts if it's the same car, as it was incomplete.
  4. Zep How much does it cost to ship a car over to NZ from Australia? I know a guy here in perth with 2 240z for sale. One for $4500 an automatic, licenced and running. and another one licenced in queensland (but the cars now in perth), Running, manual, metallic blue, $3500. Both in good condition both in one piece.
  5. I had a look under my 260z and the bar looks the same as the 280z in the photo. Why wont it fit? The bar runs just in front of the diff mount.
  6. Your last oil probaly had a bottle of no smoke stuff added to it to hide the engine wear problem thats causeing it to smoke in the first place.
  7. Advantages are: Not having to find a 5 speed box and part with the cash to buy it. Not having to crawl around under the car to remove the old 4 speed and fit the five speed. Disadvantages: Not having the high gear for cruising at high speed but with lower engine revs. Might even save some petrol. Having the sporty state of mind when flooring it through all 5 gears.... priceless.
  8. 2 sets of watanbes on aussie ebay. Not cheap though. I prefer the 70's 5 slot "jellybean" mags. http://search.ebay.com.au/ws/search/SaleSearch?satitle=260z&salocatedincountry=15&ht=1&sosortproperty=1&from=R10&BasicSearch=
  9. 26 bucks for a 240z bonnet.....bargain.
  10. Really? My 260z 2+2 parts car has round top carbies. (diifferent to my 240z round tops, but definately not flat tops). Its a '75. Think maybe only the US got flat tops to meet emmission laws. Any aussies with 260z's have flat tops, and what year is your 260z? Lets work this out once and for all.
  11. So you are both saying the same thing then. Doesnt freeze here in australia too often, what about anti-boil?
  12. I've painted metallic finished also. I'm sure i could walk up to a freshly painted panel shop car and find faults too. Then thers the stuff you dont see. Like the masses of bog. And painting over cars that have already stared to rust from being left as bare metal for too long. If you cant paint a car fine. Just dont tell me i cant do a good job. It was better tha the finish you find on all new cars. Its not difficult to get it perfect if you take your time preparing the car. Most people (pannels shops included) dont take the time. Time is money, and the quicker they can get cars painted and out the door the more money thay can make. If you want a really good paint job you can pay a paint shop thousands of dollars to do it, or you can do it yourself for the cost of the paint. F@#% acceptable. I wanted it perfect so i did it myself.
  13. I've painted more than 3 cars with no help or advice from anyone The first being my old 240z 10 years ago and the paint job was awesome. Its not really that hard.
  14. The paint shop I get my paint from can put the paint in a spray can. They have a machine to do it. Its the same paint they you would use in a spray gun, ony in a spray can. I use one of those electric compressor spray guns. Like a vacuum cleaner, only it blows instead of sucks. I get good results using acrylic paint. You have to sand it when its dry though, to get the smooth mirror finish. then buff it to bring the shine back.
  15. No I dont have any. Spirit garage is a performance shop in Japan I believe, and from what i can gather they sell this stuff. I dont read japanese, but they have prices on the site which you can convert to your currency using any converter tool on the web. This is thier race car: IMG]http://s-garage.hp.infoseek.co.jp/s30-2.jpg A thread about them. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5872[
  16. Looks like its time to bore it out to 2.8 litres.
  17. Lets stick to talking about datsuns and leave politics and religion alone (i'm not interested in either of them). Datsuns dont start wars.
  18. Yes they do, Carbon fibre hatch: Carbon fibre everything just about. Bonnet, hatch, rear light pannels, the pannel infront of the windscreen. Fibreglass fenders. Only problem is, they are in Japan. http://s-garage.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gaisou2.htm
  19. I recommend you do it yourself at home in your garage. I've been stripping pannels from my 240 and 260 and finding what i consider bad workmanship. Heaps of bog, straight onto bare metal, when the dent could have been knocked out in the first place. What needs doing Hayden?
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2432049100&category=6187
  21. Well you dont want to drive the price up too early and price yourself out of the bidding.
  22. Saw a 280zx 2 seater today (sunday) actually. Went to a house to look a a new roof for my 240z. There were 6 240z's (2 of which are for sale),3 260z's and the 280zx 2 seater. The one that I'm getting the roof cut off has been totally butchered by a PO.
  23. Is the P90 head essential for turboing an L series? or can you just put the efi intake on another head, like an E88? Where do you get your oil supply from for the turbo?
