  1. If Mike is the Yellow Jedi, does that make Alan T........Yoda?

  3. Ah, in the classic & vintage section. only place i didn't look. Yeah I wouldnt mind having a look either. I live near carine also. WA Zed want some company? I'm not doing much tomorrow. Cant afford to buy it, but would like to see how it compares to mine. Anyway PM me and I'll give you my moblie number if you want. Craig.
  4. Found it: http://stream.zdnet.co.jp/gamespot/movies/midnight/wangan.mpg 11.9 Mb Worth saving. Catchy song.
  5. Yeah thats the one i was talking about. Doesn't seem to be at the Genki website anymore (they made the game). http://www.genki.co.jp/games/midnight/index.html I cant read Japanese. Alan! see if theres a link to the trailer. Maybe we could get permission to put it up here for download.
  6. Yeah I love 1200 coupes as well. There was one sitting in someones front yard, hadn't moved for ages, 2 foot of grass growing around it. I was tempted to knock on the door and ask them to sell it to me so many times. Drove past after i got my Zed and it was gone, and the lawn had been mowed.
  7. I've been driving behind people that flash there brake lights by tapping the pedal a few times before applying the brake, especially when aproaching red traffic lights. It really gets your attention.
  8. I had a look in daylight, and it looks like it has been removed. The mounting brackets are still there at the rear of the floorpan.
  9. Mostly you may find that the engine number on the engine wont match the id tags, usually because the engine had been exchanged. Some exgine reconditioners just have engines built up ready to swap, for a quick changover. So you take in your car and they take out the engine, put in one they already done, and keep you engine, then someone else get your engine later. Mostly with common cars like commodores or falcons. I'd rater wait a week while they rebuild my engine.
  10. We talking 280zx turbo, or 300zx turbo?
  11. Reminds me of the phrase "Don't ask me, I just work here"
  12. Wow. Thats some story. What Band was it that made the music vid? Just a local Melbourne band?
  13. Ah, so yours has the ciggie lighter in the center console, and mine has it in the dash. Strange how yours has a 4 digit number and mine has a 5 digit number. Maybe they added a digit when they changed over. HS30 XXXX early model, HS30 XXXXX later model? maybe. Alan.... So yours doesnt have the storage bins? My 72, looks exactly like my old one, but in a lot nicer condition (less rust). It's had some rust cut out, and metal welded in in the rear sills just infront of the wheels. My old one was august 72, maybe. I'll have a look and see if I can find some old rego papers for the chassis number. I just realised my rear sway bar is missing. Anyone know where I can get one? And fronts spoilers. Whats available in Oz?
  14. 280zx 2 seater in the Madonna video for the song Borderline. She gets spraypaint on it. (I've said the before somewhere)
  15. No, it means that music is going through the crap cycle again, and that i have better taste that. and that i am too intelligent to listen to poxy music, and that there are heaps of great bands with cool albums and songs that never get played on the radio because they dont fit the commercial radio, 9 to 5, happy happy joy joy, i'm just a good sheep, dont rock the boat mold. So go and seek them out. I actually stopped listeng to the radio because i hate the commercials! I built a mp3 jukebox from and old computer. with remote controll, and will soon have a DC power supply so it can be mounted in my car. So with 50 gigs of mp3s, i kinda have my own radio station. And the best part, every sony they play i like! and no commercials.
  16. No probs Gav240z. I did to. (the 10 meg one). Iv'e got quite a collection going now. I still like the animated one from a game or cartoon in Japan with the blue zed in it. Have you got that one? search the forums for wangan.mpeg. midnight racer or try www.genki.co.jp to find it if you havent. It's 11megs. but its pretty cool.
  17. Yeah 240z lights are dimmer i would imagine. and there is a noticable pause with no light the first time you go to highbeam. Is there a way to rewire them so they are brighter, or will i have to get halogen bulbs/lenses, or fit some extra lights?
  18. Cool, Take some photos of the skyline. I saw a 260z 2+2 last week, Red with wildcats plates 327 or 327Z. I guess it had a 327 chev in it. I wonder if its the same 260 thats listed with the 5.3 litre in the over 4 liter class.
  19. The bikini wash scene is available online from www.bringitonmovie.com
  20. It looks worse close up! Its a Feburary 72, or at least thats when it recieved its Australian compliance plate. I suppose there is no way to tell exactly when it was built. I have no idea when compliance plates are fitted. Australian cars probably get them in the factory. Dont know about Imports. Probably when they roll off the boat from Japan. Whats the fascination with chassis numbers? All matching numbers. Gotta love that. My engine is really smokey, so it looks like i'm not gonna be able to drive it around for a while and have some fun. (I would get stickered by the cops), So i may as well start on the resto (i've already pulled half of the interior out). Only problem is no Funds at the moment, and nowhere to put the car. The garage is full of furniture, untill the house extention is built. W.A.Zed, click gallery at the top of page, then on the right of the page that loads is an upload photos link click it. click the browse button to find the pic to upload then type a bit in the title, description etc, you can choose a specific category for the picture, I just put them im members gallery. then hit upload/submit
  21. Yeah I think the wiggles sell more records than any other australian artists. They earn millions! I'd do that if i got paid millions. Chugga chugga chugga chugga Big Zed car. or Hot exhaust pipe, hot exhaust pipe. something like that Nirvana recorded their first record in 1989 Bleach. I'd call them a 90's band. The 90's rocked. I dont listen to the radio lately. It all sounds crap. I pick and choose what i want to listen to, and seek out interesting music, instead of having mtv or the radio tell me what i should listen to. There were classic 80's bands and albums that still hold up well today, Like U2's Joshua tree album, and then there was complete crap that's long since been forgotten. 90% of what you hear on the radio today, if you heard it in 10 years time, you'll hardly remember it, and its will sound crap and dated.
  22. Alfa, you have ? Now you need a datsun 1200 coupe, and a datsun 1600 sedan and you will have a collection of cool datsuns.
  23. Most bands have a story like that. Like the guy that was in the Beatles that the movie backbeat was about. He was the drummer before Ringo. Think his name was Pete Best. or was it Stuart Sutcliff that backbeat was about. And there was the 4th member of silverchair, back when they were still in or just out of school, that went overseas, then silverchair got famous without him.
  24. I'm pretty sure it depends on how many posts you have.
  25. Actually carbie turbos are alot simpler and cheaper than the alternative. (france probably didnt get 280z turbo's so you cant just do a engine swap) think about it: carbie turbo: Need turbo plumbed into oil and water and a turbo exhaust manifolds. stick a carbie on the front of the turbo and you're off. (ok carbie might need to be tuned with different jets or needles depending on carbie type). Alternative. Need turbo plumbed into oil and water and a turbo exhaust manifolds. Need to make a intake manifold for fuel injection. Need engine computer to controll fuel injection, which needs a whole bunch of extra sensors, air flow, temperature, crank senor, ignition firing system. Computer needs to be tuned.
