  1. Ok time to play devils advocate. The guy has every right to hold out for his asking price. You offered a price less than he was asking, and he's got someone else interested, of course he's gonna wait and see how much the other guy will offer. You don't just sell to the first person that walks up and makes an offer. Just dont get into a bidding war. You should have told him that was your final offer when he wanted time to think about it, and that he should accept it, and not let him play you for a chump. Or maybe he is a wanker and there isn't another buyer and he's just trying to make you pay a bit more. When he phones you back say you've reconsidered and offer him a bit less than before, and give him reasons like (is this the one with the skyline box? thats a big reason to offer less, rust, missing trim all the usual crap). There are other zeds out there. How much is this guy asking anyway?
  2. We also have a lots of 80's model R30 skylines in Perth that were imported in the 80's as second hand imports (amongst other rare Jap model cars like r30 coupes, corona coupes, A friend of mine had a C211 2000GT skyline with and L20ET 6cyl. And masses of series 1 and 2 rx7's, cordias, celica etc etc.) Anyway the skylines have 6 cyl Lseries engines with fuel injection, and probably have r200 diffs as well.
  3. That would be cool. Get some custom aussie plates with the same numbers as US plates, then swap them. Guess it would look better on a US car though.
  4. I think i speak for most 240z seekers in Perth Australia when I say.. ...I hate you! :tapemouth Just kidding.
  5. Gee. What state are you in? Did you buy the 240z yet? If its in canning vale WA, I doubt the same old guy has owned it for the last 15 years. There seems to be a little "operation" going on there. The only difference between a 240z and a 432 to look at them is the badging, "Fairlady Z 432" for the 432 and "Datsun 240Z" for the 240. Lift the bonnet and its a different story. They weren't sold in any other markets than Japan as far as i know.
  6. P.S.S. What, you mean "ugly toad" is still available for the 350z? They should make it in the new commodore green colour.
  7. Well it apears 240z's aren't that rare in perth. I went for a driive down to Freo to look at a celica XX supra (which turned out to be the older model, not the newer one), and saw 2 of them. One on the way there and one on the way back. Whoever owns the red/orange one with the personal plates and the original 240z side stripes that was at leighton beach today, I want your car! Sell it to me, name your price. P.S. The sandblasted 260 in warnbro is a 2+2.
  8. Yeah most likely they are the Horiblie old Blue plates. I used to have ZZ 240. that was 10 years ago, Z 240 was already gone, and i think ZZZ 240 was gone at the time also. With the new plates you can get any combination of letters and numbers up to 9 characters, so you can actuall get 240Z if they aint gone already. Have you noticed all the plates for sale. I think every time a new car comes out someone gets plates for it then sells them, even though they dont have the car. So for example I could get 350Z for around $300 from the Licencing department, then turn around and sell them for $3500. And it's legal. RX8 anybody? I dont even think you have to own a car to do this.
  9. Member Cuong Nguyen would be the guy to ask about RB conversions, he seems to have done a few. He's putting a rb26 in a 240 at the moment. Track him down in the members section and send him a PM (Personal Message). Also try the search function in the forums to finds other posts about RB20's.
  10. Yeah my 240 had the same spoiler on it. It was FG, and full of little cracks where it had flexed over the years. The UK market had a similar style spoiler, but much uglier looking, which pointed towards the ground more.
  11. VCD's are mpeg1 format, which should be able to be played with media player. DVD format is mpeg 2 which cant be played py media player. You have to use winDVD or PowerDVD or some other dvd player software. If the CD is in the proper VCD format any standalone (read: box that plugs into you tv) player should be able to play it. Copyright infringement is a bad thing, if you are the one that owns the rights it could result in loss of income. on the other hand it could result in many people wanting to purchase the original. Posting the video on this site would potentially leave the site operaters and the host open to legal action, as the guys from napster found out. Anybody heard of Imesh or Kazaa?
  12. I've seen the Licence plate ZED ...on a red '84 model 300zx. Sacrilege!
  13. In Australia a Mitsubishi Colt was a small 4 door front wheel drive hatchback. (known as a mirage in other countries I believe) The Mitsubishi Starion was a 2 door rwd turbo sports car. They also made a Cordia which was a 2 door front wheel drive in turbo and non turbo. Why the hell are we talking about Bitzashitties?
  14. Ha ha. Another reason why Flash should be permenantly banned from the internet. I'll wait for a decent html version. Flash sux. Sure it's good for little logos and stuff, but I really hate it when people make whole sites out of it. What? cant they program a little javascript? Make a little HTML?
  15. I've nothing against Red. Red Zeds look great. I painted my Zed Red. (I dont mean to sound like a Dr Zeus book:classic: ) But it would be nice to see other colour Zeds around. They look great in almost any color. Mine was painted British racing green (really badly) when I bought it, but was the olive green metallic colour when it left the factory. I like black at the moment, but the zed I have my eye on is pearl white. Yeah some of the Quokka paper ads mysteriously dont make it onto the website. Ive seen a few 240z advertised in the paper, but haven't been on the website. The 240z in the quokka sounds expensive for the condition it appears to be in. I remember reading an ad in the quokka for someone trying to start a datsun car club. Cant remember if it was specifically for 240z. Wonder if it got off the ground? Mr C
  16. I saw those guys had a 260z for sale just before christmas also. Red of course. Why do these guys alway paint them red? and dont tell me "cause it goes faster" because i've heard it, and they dont. I thought that one was advertised as 69 zed? All 5 speed boxes were "close ratio" it was how they were advertised, so yeah it's a marketing gimmick. Unless your car had the racing box fitted after delivery (which it wouldn't have)with the "Ultra Close" ratio, 1st gear = 1.85 to 1 which is too tall for street driving. Standard is 2.957, much more street friendly. W.A.ZED (Gavin) you wouldnt happen to have personal plates with the same letters as an electrical appliance company would you?
  17. Ditto. Take it to a vintage car restorer, not a smash repairer. A good vintage repair shop could fabricate and weld in a piece of metal to fill the sunroof hole and you would never even know that it was there in the first place. They may even cut the patch out of the doner roof, so they dont have to shape a piece of metal first. Removing the whole roof seems a little extreme.
  18. Steve Graber is the man responsible for these. They came from his website about his datsun-ferrari replica. He made them to replace the standard dash with the ferrari type dash and use the original 240z gauges. Funny thing Is I also saved these years ago and began editing them in photoshop, never finished. Probably about 99% done though, so if you want them in white without the phantom logo, give me a day or two and I'll finish them off. I was planning to do a imperial, and metric set, and can basically put any background color in them (eg, red or yellow). If you have photoshop you can put any color you want. I also want to use a font closer to the original datsun font. So if anybody has their gauges apart can you scan the faces, or take a high quality digital photo (i dont have access to a Z at the moment). Instructions about printing and fittind are available at steves site. http://www.newtier.com/graber/z-car/gauges.html Hope Steve doesn't mind. I'm not planning to sell them. I just thought people might want a "clean" set on white. He does sell his version printed up for around $40.
  19. Already found one, but I dont own it, so: 1. Scrape together enough cash to buy it. 2. Convince the owner to sell it to me at a reasonable price. 3. Anything else will depend on the condition its in. Update: 30/Jan/2003 The owner decided to keep his white 240z (the one I wanted to buy), he wants to put a V8 in it, but offered me his Black 240z (yeah he has 2), which has a RB30 Turbo in it, etc etc, for $10,000!!! Too rich for me, and I'd prefer the original condition one. If anyone in Perth wants the Black one PM me and 'll see if i can put you in contact with the dude. I Just bought a Red 72 240z. Needs some work. Fix electrics - Headlights dont work. Get suspension checked out - Pulls to the right. Get a job so i can spend more money on my Z. It needs a reapaint.
  20. Hmm, sounds like poltergeist. Your car must be posessed.

  22. And for those of you not in the USA (Like Me) someone has ripped the show to ".asf" format and it is available on imesh (and i expect on kazaar too). Its 29MB pretty large for my 56k connection, so i havent got it all yet. so I cant tell you what its like. Also Nissan have made a DVD called "The Run" (theres another thread about it, so search "the Run"and find it). Filmed in Prague, bla bla bla, multi camera angles bla bla. They have a trailer on the site that loads in a browser, but being a good little hacker I am, I've a direct link to the Hi-Res file so you can download it using Download managers (DL mage is excellent) and keep it. Be warned it 40Megs, and not too impressive. They have smaller versions, but you will have to go to thier website to look at them. It's a hell of a lot funnier if you hold down the fast cue button on your quicktime player! So heres the Link: http://a400.g.akamai.net/7/400/8182/3de3f3cf/nissannort1.download.akamai.com/8182/nissan/m/v/zdvd/HR_QT.mov Mr C
  23. Here's a montage I made to use as wall paper.
