Another theory, (completely made up) ..... It was a monday morning at the factory, or a friday afternoon, and the guy pressing the numbers into the firewall panels messed up and forgot to reset the stamps back to KHGC after pressing up some GT-R firewalls. Though I agree that it wouldn't be to hard to make the H into a P. Also, my KHGC is #4253 and thats a late 73 (estimated build date) as its a 1/74 compliance date, not that it really means anything in relation to KPCG chassis numbers, but if the car VIN was modified from KHGC, then its probably not an early 1973 car. Either way. Ray isn't trying to pass the car off as a GT-R. He says its a GT-X 2000. Though his statement the GT-X is "based on the GT-R of 1973" isn't exactly correct. (Thats like saying my '88 GTS-X is based on the GTS-R). He's been trying to sell this car for a few years now hasn't he? I remember when he wanted $13 000 for it. He should try his luck on ebay with it, if not just for the advertising.
  4. I Wonder if they understand the rules? No Dealer installed options, apart form Air con on a 240Z. Dealer installed air con on a 260z and you get pinged. Seems a bit hypocritical. 240Z's didn't have factory Air con, so they should be docked a point (or whatever) if they have a dealer fitted air con. I wonder how they feel about the hold down hooks? Since they were only fitted for transport, and were supposed to be removed by the dealer before sale. But in there class rules the car is supposed to be as it left the factory. Personally I'm not interested in the Judging aspect of car shows. I appreciate a car for what it is, and the quality of work that has gone into it, regardless of whether it can be pigeon-holed into a category.
  5. Why not just delete them, sheeeesh! even the parts relevant to this thread.

if its efi and an injector is leaking it may fill a cylinder with fuel stopping you from cranking it over, but you should post more info about what sort of engine you have, whether its efi, did you just do any major work to it (head off, etc)...

One day, oh yes, one day....
  10. Forget about dealing with the seller, you should be sending messages to the people bidding on it, to let them know its not a 240Z radio - then they retract their bid due to it being falsely advertised, that really annoys the seller I did it a few times on "240Z" items that weren't 240Z items. Like a Set of Mirrors - generic plastic mirrors - that were "original 260Z mirrors" because "there weren't any extra holes in the doors when removed" Somebody form the USA bought them for more than they cost new, and these were 30 year old corroded and pitted ones. Its not so much a case of buyer-beware, more a case of buyer-be-educated.
  11. Forward his emails to ebay and get the auction cancelled, actually, don't bother, as ebay seem to ignore all complaints unless its about someone cheating them out of there fees. Sign up his email address to a bunch of spam sites :bandit:
  12. Not these days, Unless your paying top dollar for a quality job, you will get filler.
  13. Ah, sell the spoiler, I though you meant the car for a minute. Anybody need a coffee table?
  14. I thought Cuong removed it when he bought the car, then sold the car to Paul.
  15. Well, since we are on the underside of the world we need all the down-force we can get so we don't fall off.
  16. He's busy working from what I hear, having a break from fixing cars. He still has the RB26DET 240Z, but its not finished.
  17. Its been done, so it is possible.
  18. Mr Camouflage posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain

Anybody notice the 240K Sedan on ebay at the moment? clicky

None. It will bolt right on. But then theres issues with compression ratio to consider.

Nothings impossible if you have enough money. There was an after-market twin cam head made for the L6 engine. It was made by OS Giken and called the TC24-B1. They are impossible to find and if you can find someone that has one, you would need a lot of money to make them part with it. This guy has one in his S30 (site is in japanese though). more info on OS Giken heads There is also a guy that posts on Hybridz.org and zcar.com that is making a twin cam head for an L28 using KA24 heads cut and welded together read about it here There was also discussion on using an RB head on an L series. Apparently the bore spacing is the same and the head bolts all line up, but the problem is with oil and water galleries not lining up.

You gonna tell us why, or is it top secret?
  23. Casting numbers are on the top of the diff. If its in the car, you'll need a mirror. If you want to know the ratio, you'll have to open it up, as its stamped on the crown wheel.
  24. Nope, I think it was used on both the turbo and normally aspirated engines.
