  1. Kiwi ZX, I dont think Americans are particulary concerned with resale values of zeds, when they do this to them. They got so many of them, they arent exactly rare or expensive to buy. Have you seen how cheap they are over there?
  2. Question was: "Who can guess what this is? " No correct answers yet. hls30 almost got it right with his answer: "A picture of a car". But I believe the correct answer to the question "Who can guess what this is?" is "everyone can". Would also accept "anyone can", or "I can" as the correct answer. Case closed. Lets get on with talking about Z cars.
  3. So what sort of things would people actually want their Z car to say to them?
  4. Ok. I re-read your post, and am not sure what you mean. Are you talking about replacing the front metal guards with FG guards. If so, nothing needs doing, and it wont weaken the car structuraly.
  5. go over to hybrid z there is an excellent post in the bodykits an paint section about fitting zg flares, and has all the gory photos of somone chopping up a z to get the extra clearance for the wide mags on a lowered car. Heres the link: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113064
  6. Yeah those wheels are ugly. Nice set of wat's on it and it would be perfect.
  7. Sold outside of ebay then I guess. How much of the roof do you need? If you are just replacing a roof because of a sunroof, I'd just remove the roof panel and weld on a new one. No need to remove the under lying structural turret. Just drill out the spot welds. Saves you alot of work because you can just spot weld on the donor roof panel like they did at the factory, and you dont potentially weaken the car, because you havent cut the structural part off.
  8. More ebay madness: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&item=170009649604
  9. [i guess there will be no rolling on the floor laughing, as the damn smilie emoticon code isnt working.]
  10. Here you go: $1.00 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180011567273 If you email him quickly you might get it before it goes to the crusher. I have a roof, but its cut off a couple of inches down from the roof.
  11. Throwing out K parts? Have you gone mad Lachlan? I saw them, but i couldnt quite work out what they were exactly, whether they were for a sedan or hardtop, and if so were they the inner or outer. If you want to see some ebay madness, there was a 1600 dash panel with gauges that sold for over $1000. Link was on ozdat. I'll find it later and update this post.
  12. Starts at £400.00 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220011706007 He's a bit confused about how much the wheels and tyres are worth, but car looks ok. There quite rare over there (the car that is, not the wheels).
  13. Actually it goes alot further than the unfinished version at zhome. The one at z home stops after the dog ran off with the tek screws. See point 11 "More to come" The more to come is in the technical articles link on this site. This one continues on and shows the floors actually welded in, and Chris's tips/experiances in welding them it. The one on Zhome shoulbe be titled "How to remove your floorpans" because thats all it explains. Carl, when are you going to update your site so it doesnt look so junior high.
  14. Theres a better write up right here. No need to leave this site really http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17235 More details, more photos and doesnt seem to stop half way through.
  15. Update. Its the EFI version of the engine that has hydraulic lifters. Specs for a KE laser 87-90 Single cam are adjustable: Valve clearances hot: 1.3 litre stem to rocker inlet: 0.25mm exh: 0.30mm Camshaft to rocker: in:0.18mm ex:0.22mm 1.6 liter stem to rocker: in: 0.30mm ex:0.30mm Camshaft to rocker: in:0.19mm ex:0.19mm Firing order 1342 plug gap 1 to 1.1mm Timing 1.3 6 deg BTDC 1.6 2 deg BTDC
  16. Actually, come to think of it there could have been a thin coating of yellow/beige primer under the tar undercoating, but definately not over the top color coat paint. Well at least not the floor pan. That my experiance with 3 240z's. I still have the back half of the car still left to strip, i'll take some more notice when i get back to it. To avoid confusion, how about we call the beige stuff primer or undercoat - as its known in Spray painting terms, and the Black tar stuff, we'll call that rust proofing, or underbody deadener, because thats basically what it was supposed to be.
  17. The underbody of the Z was coated from the factory with a black tar type stuff, straight on the bare metal, no undercoat underneath it, This thick tar rippled look coating (If you dont call it undercoating, i dont know what you would call it) was then oversprayed with the color paint. not painted as such. I doubt you would find paint over the top of the tar coating in places like the transmission tunnel above the gearbox. My car is a 72, and has this undercoating. It washes off back to bare metal with a rag a bit of petrol.
  18. Did you pull the plugs? I thought that would be the first thing to check.
  19. Hope it wasnt a coupe they crushed.
  20. Youll probably find that they are just ignorant of the history of Z. They were probably just looking around for a sports car and this new nissan sports car was a lot cheaper than a porsche, so it will do.
  21. I used to have a (KE) Laser TX-3 turbo 4 wheel drive. What sort of laser is it? The problem with the B6 and B8 mazda engines is that they have hydraulic lifters, and when they get noisy, theres nothing you can do to them except replace them -and they cost a fortune. I think they were at least $20 each, you need 16 of them = $320. Its just a different approch to car manufacturing. Lasers are built to be cheap disposable cars. Z's were built when a car had to last and cost cutting and market competition weren't as important as they are today.
  22. Yeah. I was going to buy that. The seller lives a suburb or 2 away from me. Tom wants the badges he's selling
  23. 1,000.00 USD = 1,325.02 AUD at todays rates.
  24. Thats probobly why goggo-mobile man gestures towards the guy next to the 240z and says something like you dont need to be a member of a club.
