  1. Actually I just had a closer look. and the interior photo isnt even a C110. Notice the side window isnt a one piece like a 240K should be. and there is 2 gear sticks (gear and hi-lo sticks). I'd guess the photos got mixed up, and its a patroll or 4wd ute (like a 720) interior. Door panel is wrong, door handle, and the bonet is red.
  2. I'd guess thats its a C210 or R30 dash. Probably from the car the engine came from. The handle reminds me of a partol dashboard though.
  3. Heres another one with a turbo L20 and GT tail lights. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240k-4-Door_W0QQitemZ4628159361QQcategoryZ45571QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. I dont get it. If that a reference to time travel, how about McFly S30 = 240z,260z,280z shape. S130 = 280zx shape. The S130 was called ZX in exports markets, but in Japan it was called the Fairlady 280z So there are there are 2 different types of 280Z, and I believe some of the fairlady 280z's came to Australia (WA at least, as i've seen some, including a 2 seater) in the 80's as second hand imports, and were sold in used car dealerships along with cordias, rx-7's, my mums corona coupe, and the R30 skyline coupe she should have bought.
  5. Yeah there's at least 1 S30 280Z in Australia. Gee (His member name here has/had one). It was/is a black or dark blue (S30) 280z 2+2 with the big ugly bumpers. From what i can recall it was brought over by a American stationed in the NT somewhere ages ago, and was left behind. I had a link to pictures, but the link is dead. So using the wayback machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20050228183257/http://members.datafast.net.au/~sg4/280zlhd.htm
  6. works fine for me: www.wazcars.com or www.wazregister.com what problem are you having?
  7. I dont get whats so hard about it. At the top of ever forum page there is a navigation (sometimes called "breadcrumbs" in the industry) that tells you exactly what forums you are in. eg at the top of this page it says: Classic Zcar Club > CHIT-CHAT FORUMS > Open General Discussions These are links to the forum sections. below that is either the title of the thread you are viewing, or the name of the subforum if you are not viewing a particular thread. When hitting new thread, i check that i'm in the right forums. If i'm not I use the breadcrumbs forum link to go to the right forum. I dont see how it could be any easier.
  8. Ummm, my hood is hanging on the garage wall, so its either the wall or the floor, depending on which way you look at it
  9. Wasnt there a "NISSAN 2300" or "NISSAN 2300 OHC" valve cover from the Datsun Super 6 (P130) (on an L23 obviously). Think I remember seeing one of those too.
  10. Yeah early valve covers had the engine size on them. 2000 for a 2 litre, 2400 for a 2.4.
  11. I didnt even notice the report bad post link. I usually just hassle the poster a bit about posting in the wrong forum. If you make the poster aware they are doing the wrong thing they might get the message, rather thatn having a moderator move or delete the post without fixing the source of the problem. Correct me if i'm wrong Victor, but when you delete or move a post, the poster isn't (informed via email or whaterer) by the system that they made a boo boo, and their posr is delete or moved.
  12. Pictures continued Orange Z432 is a Kyosho , and so is the Maron ZG.
  13. Yep. Yatming (Road Signature) - when you open the doors, the window frame is attached to the body, not the door. (See picture). Sunstar, the frame is on the door, but looks like painted plastic (whereas the yatming looks like metal plated plastic). Door frame looks to thick when compared with the scale of the car. Both of the above dont have much detail in the engine bay - neither have plug leads (cant remember if sun star does, but think it doesn't). They are not too bad, but the better ones cost more. Kyosho are more detailed. Here is pics some of mine that I had handy: Red one is a Yatming/Road Signature. Black one is a SunStar 240z (Nissan didnt even make a black 240z :disappoin )
  14. grinding in the driver side rear...theres a joke in there somewhere. What you need to do is locate the souce of the sound. I'd get the back end up on stands (on the rear body subframe) so the wheels are off the ground. Check the tyres for signs of rubbing on body parts Then use a jack to lift the rear A link thing so the wheel is at normal ride height. start it up, put it in 1st and let it idle and see if you can locate the source of the sound. Just be carefull. Could be some part rubbing on another, could be your diif has no oil in it. could be a worn out uni joint.
  15. And now for something completely different http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-1600-2-door-w-roll-cage-Great-for-parts-or-fixup_W0QQitemZ4622503293QQcategoryZ102220QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

  17. Hey Dave. Dont place too much stock in those values. Some people registering dont know what month in 1970 thier car is so they choose Jan. I'll have to do something about that. All the ones that say 1/1970 will be wrong.
  18. That because the didnt start making export RHD cars till early 1970. Cars that early never got the aussie compliance plate, so maybe he's guessing a bit. I think from memory that the 240z was available from March or April 1970 in Australia, so that probably where he got the date from. HS30-00306 has a date of 9/1970 (on the compliance plate, when the car arrived in Australia) and has an engine number of L24-021698 so this #60 is probably a bit earlier than September.
  19. Try posting in the 240z forums for a start. This is the 240K Body and paint section maybe try asking here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=66
  20. No offence intended eric Sounds like a datsun newbie question, not a question a classic car guy would ask. I agree there look simalar, but not identical, as they pretty much would do if they were the same chassis. The differences I noticed, such as the front window pillars look different - the front window looks like its on more of an angle than a 510, and all the panels look different (rear quarter panels),the firewall, the bits of sheet metal that make up the chassis, then theres the chassis code, all of which would make me think that its a completely different car. Only really looks like a 510 to me from the rear. I've never seen one either. I dont believe we got them here. Thats probably why he playing the rare factor to try and bump up the price. Might just be that I'm good at seeing different shapes (I usually do pretty well on those types of tests). Some people cant tell the difference between a 2 seater and a 2+2 S30 just by looking at it. They have to ask, or look for the back seat before they know what it is. And if the back seat is folded down - that really confuses them.
  21. Welcome back Steve. I havent seen any posts from you in ages. datto_240z bought some of those ac delco shocks from ebay and has them in his 260z. I bought some to replace my mine in my 240z, as i have know idea how old they are, and they looked pretty bad. Will be a few years before i get the car back in one piece.
  22. Umm yeah, and the 240z is just a fairlady roadster with a roof and a bigger engine.:disappoin They are different cars with different chassis, different steering, different engines. The chassis code for the laurel is C30 the 1600 is 510. That should be your first clue.
  23. Datsun Laurel on Ebay Australia. From Ratdat history page: C30 - April 1968 The C30 was the first Datsun Laurel and filled a gap in the model line up between the 510 and 130 models and does bear a strong family resemblance to a 510 although marginally longer and wider. The C30 was a very sophisticated car for 1968 and featured an 1800cc OHC crossflow 108hp engine (type G18) of Prince design. There was also independant suspension all round with the classic semi trailing arm rear end of the 510 along with strut front suspension the same as a 240Z along with rack and pinion steering ...unusual in a Nissan sedan. The car was a medium sized executive car and as such was quite luxurious and smooth riding while still retaining a sporting feel. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4623642005
  24. 260z shocks wont fit in 240z tubes, but 240z shocks will fit n 260z tubes as long as you use the correct gland nut for the strut/shock. If you are after a cheap set the ac delco ones that sell on ebay for around $60 to $80 will fit either, as they come with gland nuts to fit 240z struts and 260z struts.
