  1. I thought it was a bit wangan midnight, or maybe thats just because its blue. Vin is complicated. The ID tags say its a early-ish. 1971 in the 800's (dont have the info with me), but the chassis stamping would indicate its a 1973 chassis, in the 100000 range. Probably a case of take 2 cars and make one good one, for whatever reason.
  2. <img src="http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Photos/Y16284889.jpg"/> Range Rover Nissan 280ZX body, engineered, good registration, mags, V8 5 speed, $12500, TPD-353, consider part trade WENTWORTHVILLE
  3. Well, was looking around for a 2 door. The sedan was going to be a parts car when I found a K coupe. Didn't feel right putting in a L28 in the 240z. What would I do with the original matching numbers engine? Would be good to have an original spec z and one I could do whatever to. So I thought a K coupe would be nice to have as the modified car. Then this 240z pops up for a bargain price. So now its sitting in the shed next to its brother K waiting for its turn to get fixed up.
  4. Are you going to mount the muffler vertical "Twice Pipes" style. Your 240K steering wheel could use a clean up.
  5. I've already seen stuff like that on taxis. A hubcap that on bearings that doesnt rotate when the wheel does. Had advertising matarial on it.
  6. I imagine it would be good for someone that already has a 240z, but needs a new chassis due to an accident or rust.
  7. HS30-00379 on ebay.com.au starting at $1. In a bit of a sorry state though. check it out
  8. Nice Photos Hayden. Hey Alfa, none for sale aparently. Actually the silver one with the 2 scoops in the bonet on the same side was for sale. The guy that owns it also has a 240K coupe.
  9. Its got 2 doors, that makes it a coupe. Being a coupe has got nothing to do with the number of seats.
  10. Thanks. I thought the gauge should go up if you ground the wire. I think the is a problem with the guage wiring somewhere. I got the multimeter on the sender last night. It was reading about 250 to 300 ohms when off, and went to 100 ohms at idle when I started the engine.
  11. I got a 240K recently. It has a L28 in it. Oil pressure gauge reads 0 all the time. Doesn't move at all when the ignition is switched on or off. I suspect the engine has oil pressure, it would probably be dead by now if it doesn't. But i want to be sure before i start driving it regularly. So i'm guessing either the gauge or the sender unit is faulty. If I take the lead off the sender and ground it should the oil gauge go up? Does the resistance of the sender unit go up or down as oil pressure increases? Cheers, Craig.
  12. You, in your shed. If you are handy at that sort of thing. Otherwise, its not the sort of thing you can just buy in a store.
  13. Dont apologise Alfa you are right. A Stone Tray is the thing that bolts under the engine to keep the stones out. Sometimes called a splash pan, or sump guard. The Bit your reffereing to isnt called a stone tray. Haynes manual calls it a front apron.
  14. The front looks similar to the old V35 GTR prototype. Which seems to have more styling cues from the S30 than the Z33. Espeically the rear quarter window.
  15. Saw these on ebay: 10 quid. "Datsun 240z 260z 6 branch sports exhaust manifold (unknown make) In usable condition, tho the tail section will need resleeving/cutting at its end as it was accidentally snapped, doh " http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Datsun-240z-260z-sports-6-branch-exhaust-manifold_W0QQitemZ8008020026QQcategoryZ38786QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. Yeah good, but: a). We're in Australia and. . It's a 240K
  17. Consider it revenge for all the 240z's that you Americans cut up for parts. Cars that looked perfectly restorable, cars that an Aussie would have no choice but to restore.
  18. Thanks Alfa about the seats. What should the bottom part look like? The car looks to have been "done up" at some point. Maybe it was someones first car and they fixed it up. Tha paint is crap, has rust in the bottom of the doors. It used to be the same colour as Toms C110 (a sort of medium blue metallic). The indicators must hav been switched when it got painted. The chrome isnt the best. Left part is crushed flat, the bonnet part has a ding in the middle right side, and dont remember about the driver side guard trim. But I dont have any plans to restore the car, I'll just tidy it up, and get it running nice. and if i ever find a 2 door, it will probably become a spare parts car.
  19. Just movie crap. Some CG company gets paid to make a video they can play on the screen to make it look like somethings happening. Same as in movies when the actor is using a computer. The randomly press buttons on the keyboard, never press enter, and the the screen keeps changing like they are actually going something. Swordfish is a good example of how crap and unrealistic it looks.
  20. It's a parts car Tom. Alfa plans to rip out the pedal box, gear box and clutch stuff and put it in his GTR look alike. No restoration planned for this one. Looks like its at the end of its life, unless someone buys the what's left of the chassis after Lachlan has stripped all the parts off it that he wants.
  21. When I was filling out the transfer papers when I bought it I noticed it had an L28 engine. I hadn't checked, and assumed it was a L24. Today I was having a look at it was wondering what block it had, but couldnt remember where the block type is cast, so I thought, what head has it got, I know where thats cast... Guess what, it has a P90 head.
  22. Changed the ownership on the car, and discovered that it was registered on a pensioner licence, so i have to pay the difference. Which is annoying, but didnt feel so bad after I pulled the seat covers off. I wanted to find out how crap the seats were under the cheap covers, and it was a nice surprise to find that they were original, and in excellent condition, with a bit of soapy water they'd clean up really well. Cleaned up the steering wheel, and removed the furry thing on the dash.
