  1. You've never heard of an S31 before Gav?
  2. Same old drivel, if its the same book I looked at last week when I was in the Pitstop Bookshop. I opend the cover, and read that Goetz designed the 240z, so I put it back down again, didn't bother reading any further.
  3. No one bid on it because the owner doesnt know WTF he is talking about. A JDM fairlady Z isnt worth any more than a USA spec 240Z in the same condition. Its also got a crap 280zx look alike paint job. He doesnt even know what engine is in it.
  4. But it's not even a z car its a supra. Last time I checked they were made by toyota.
  5. The school my Dad worked at used to have one for some reason (long wheel base one though), and he'd get to drive it around and bring it home every day. Those Poms were clever. They made the pannels out of aluminiun alloy so they dont rust. The old Nissan Patrols remind me of the Landrover, from the side at least.
  6. Was the P90 a turbo only head? I've seen p90 heads on a few z cars here in Aus, and since we never got Turbo zeds, Nissan may have used them in NA cars at some point. I dont think someone would go to all the trouble of finding a P90 and not using it on a turbo engine.
  7. Rear badges are plastic as far as I know, except for the "240Z" badge with the Chrome Z (its metal) instead of the recessed white Z (plastic). Rear "Datsun" ones I have are both plastic (one believed to be the original the other a new oem replacement). Side "Datsun" badges i've seen are plastic. (original and oem replacments) Side round "Z" vent badges are metal (original badge, dont know about oem replacments). they are plastic on the 260/80 2+2's. Front hood round "Datsun" badge oem replacement is plastic. Never had a z with an original. I think possibly the early cars got all metal badges, then nissan swapped over to plastic for some of the badges. but thats just a guess.
  8. Yeah the new ones are plasic. Are the old ones metal?
  9. So are you going to cut the rear guards for clearance? If you arent, is there any problems with they tyres rubbing on the wheel arch?
  10. You cant just modify the corners, the main bar has to be shortened, or the corners will stick out the side of the car. which isnt very pedestrian frendly and will get your car yanked off the road by the cops.
  11. My guess would be they have shortened the main bar, (or used a shorter 2 seater bar.) Then they have cut off the end corner bits where they start to bend.
  12. You can remove the column without taking the u joints or coupler apart. Undo the other end from the steering rack (you have to remove the bolt completely). Then the steering column center pole thingo will slide out of the steering column. It's splined in the middle. Or you can just remove the steering column, and it will slide off leaving the part from the engine bay sticking throught into the cabin.
  13. Well, the hand brake is probably still salvagable.
  14. Hows The C110 going anyway? done anything to it? Should have come down to Z day in it. Theres a Datsun cruise happening soon. Check out www.ozdat.com/forum/ in the WA section> Perth Events.
  15. L24, L28, either way, they are 25 to 30 year old engines, unless you rebuild the engine you probably wont get near the rated HP.
  16. Not sure about the 2+2, but the 2 seater doglegs are also available from rare spares.
  17. WA Z Day had a good turnout about 30 zeds and the odd roadster or 2, rain was forecast, but never appeared. WA Z Day pics are here
  18. "Datsun Skyline GTX-E (JDM Spec, not just a 240K GT)" coupe on TradeMe.co.nz http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Nissan/auction-35679317.htm AD says:
  19. If you are putting in a 280zx turbo motor, isn't this discussion rather pointless, as the zxt can make alot more power than either the L24 or L28.
  20. 115 Metallic Blue? Whats ziebart? sounds German.
  21. Post your Skyline pics and links here: This C10 has been butchered
  22. Hey Dan, this one is cheap, looks good, but its an auto. But you'd be saving $4000, and transmission swaps arent too hard to do. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-280ZX_W0QQitemZ4575796036QQcategoryZ45571QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem buy it now price of $1000
