Replacing the chassis
Come on guy's give the guy a break, its only his second post here, and he's probably not up to speed with all the "correct" terminology. the easies way to replace the chassis, it to buy another car. But what he probably means is repairing, or replacing the frame rails. On a side note, I've have wondered how difficult it would be to weld up a full space frame chassis, and bolt on all the z bits.

260Z for Sale
Yes they did. All cars after 197X (something) probably around 74 had to have side intrusion members in them. It was an ADR that was brought in around that time. I have a set of 2+2 doors with side intrusion members, and they are bloody heavy.

260Z for Sale
Hey Aux, try reading the location of the poster. The USA aint the only country on the planet. Yeah we got the 260z right up to 77. Converted to unleaded: meaning all out pertol is minimum 91 octane, but in the 80's we started taking the lead out of the petrol, requiring the heads to have harder valve seats. (not the bronze ones the early heads had). Our premium is 95 octane, and our hi octane fuel is 98. 8,500.00 Australia Dollars = 6,074.75 USD (If its a 2+2, tell him he's dreaming) You guys have lower than 91 octane gas? I'd be upset about that. Quote from a fuel website:

1965 Silvia for sale in the UK
It's interesting this this thread poped up when it did. I'd seen a silvia advertised for sale where I live, before this thread started, and searched the internet and found the one for sale in victoria. I worked out that getting the one from victoria wouldnt be worthwhile. By the time i got it transported, and done the restoration on it, it would cost more than buying the one that was for sale locally. And i already have a restoration project, my 240z. So I went and looked at the silvia. It's a little modified (flared guards, mags, blacked out chrome), but I couldn'd resist owning such a rare classic nissan, so I bought it, and will be picking it up this sunday. My new toy:

Intake/Exhaust Manifold Torque Specs
They dont have to be very tight. Its not like thay are holding the head together, or are under any great pressure. They just have to press the gasket to form a seal, and be tight enough so the parts dont move around. Do them up too tight and you'll be pulling the studs out of the soft aluminium heads.

how do i connect my radio to the 12v source?
Is this a new radio? I think the red wire is the switched wire (the one that goes off when you turn the key off), and the yellow one is the always on one (not switched) so that the radio remembers the presets and keeps time. The cigarette lighter is a good choice for the alway on (is it always on in a z?) . also the original radio circuite is good for the switched power source.

Whats Draining My Battery?

Fuel tank ?????
The electric Fuel pumps were exteranl to the tank. It's very possible that a PO could have removed it. They humg off a bracket that was bolted to the chassis cross member under the boot floor panel.

1970 Engine?
This means that it was the 60039th L24 engine block produced. When you take into consideration that the L24 was also used in other datsun models at the time. I dont believe that the numbers specific to the car, but to the block ( I could be wrong, as i havent researched this, the though had never occured to me before now). It then it becomes realistic that this number could have come from a 70's engine. eg the 240K/skyline was also fitted with the L24 as well as the 240Z, so then 2 cars could not both have the same ingine number. I havent seen any engine numbers for early cars. Or It could just be a early head on a later block.

Power Output
Not easy but, Take the p90 off and put a e88 on it (or N42). That will bring the compression up, increasing horsepower. The p90 has larger cc chambers (It has a 53cc chamber) than the e88 because its for a turbo engine, and along with the dished pistons lowers the static compression ratio down for the turbo. The p90 is supposed to flow better, but the e88 will have higher compression. Putting it on a flattop L28 motor puts compression in the mid 10's.
