  1. Huh? That description sounds more appropriate to the ford escort. Nothing realy family about the capri. It didnt have 4 doors for a start. I have an article comparing the 240z to the capri 3000GXL. The Datsun has 11 more HP from a smaller engine, less torque, higher top speed, faster 0-60mph (by 0.3 seconds) and standing quarter times than the capri, and better mpg. As for dimentions the capri is only 6 1/2 inches longer, an inch wider than the datsun, and has a longer wheelbase by 10.5 inches, is half an inch shorter than the datsun, and weighs 235 lbs more. But where the capri fails is in its handling. As the article puts it " the capri is certainly a softer car than the 240z". But then the ford was designed as a sporty car, not a sports car. The article goes on to say : The Capri was the designed as the european mustang, and was originally code named the Colt. But Yes. TORANAS! and old porsches :devious:
  2. Dude dont waste your time and money on a truimph 2500. Buy a Datsun. (doesnt have to be a Z). There was a Stanza for sale real cheap this week.
  3. Wow, I know of a 260z 2+2 with only 20,000ks on the clock, and that only $3000, and i think its overpriced. Some people dont realise the 2+2 is a different shape to a 2 seater, untill they park their new 2+2, that they just paid a whole lot more that its worth for, next to a 240z. Na the $12,000 is in mullaloo. Theres a $6000 one with a V8. There was a $1100 240z for sale last week. It sold between me calling the guy, and getting home from work.
  4. The datsun badge was upside down? making you think it was at the bottom.
  5. I guess they got whatever parts were available. Mine has been repaired, then re-damaged again, so its not in the best shape. What are the doglegs like in your parts car? I'm after some. Mine have rusted out. Also on my wish list is a original USA driver side door mirror, and a new glovebox hatch.
  6. Theres a guy in WA thats selling a z for $12,000. But its not a 240! Its a 260Z 2+2! :stupid:
  7. I could dig up the guys contact details. I expect he would want alot for the car. he has photos on some car website.
  8. Whats a 1980 Maxima look like? We didn't get a maxima down under till lthe 1990's. Was wondering if we did get it, but it was called something else.
  9. go to z wall (search the forums here for the url) to see other peoples z plates.
  10. Hasn't anybody replaced their rear quarter panels before??I'ts probably just as described, a 1970 240z, with "series 2" quarters to repair some damage. My "series 2" 1972 has a "series 1" quarter, so does that not mean its a 1972 anymore:stupid:
  11. Mull is slang for marijuana.
  12. IIIV isnt a correct roman numeral, and even if it was it would equal 2. VIII = 8 so what sort of evo was it?
  13. The front grill mounting points for the S30 changed some time between the 72 and 73 models. The 73 is more like the 260z s30 than the 240z s30 in some regards. Another difference that the 73 has in common with the 260z is the lip on top of the radiator panel that follows the contour of the bonet. The 73 grill should fit on later model S30's (260z). Not sure about late S30 models though (280z). Also the pictured grills ar the export market grill. The domestic market fairlady Z got the mesh grill (with the Big mesh), and the 432 got the fine mesh grill.
  14. I suppose you could adjust the pedal stop so that this wont happen.
  15. mperdue your avatar picture is very disturbing.
  16. Wear through huh? Must be an even worse problem with VW's and Porsches ROLF
  17. Mull Huh? I was expecting something completely different, as i expect most other australians were. Hmm. Looks like you know photoshop and image ready. Using images to write text is just wrong. The page takes forever to load. You need to cut out the text from the images, and write the text in the html.

  20. This week i have seen a metallic olive green 260z 2 seater, a 280zx convertable, and a 240z for sale in the quokka (classifieds newspaper) that sold for $1100 (no i didnt buy it unfortunately, someone called Owen bought it). Hey datto_240 z I live near Wanneroo also.
  21. What's the website for where you got the seat retrims from? and what were the inferior ones (name names so other members dont waste their money on them). I need a set too. Hayden, what did you get up too on the long weekend. Check out the pictures on our website of the z meet.
  22. Hmm, lets see. Paint cost me $100, plus maybe $50 for thinners, maybe another $80 for undercoat and primer. Maybe add another $100 for other bits and pieces. Thats alot less than $1.5K and thats in Aussie dollars.
  23. You can remove the lock by yanking out the U shaped clip that holds the lock in the hatch, but that wont get the hatch open. It might get you better access to the latch mechanism, but latch is seperate from the lock, so just removing the lock wont make the hatch open.
  24. Use Chemical Paint stripper and a wire brush attachment in a grinder if taking it back to bare metal. Dont use sanding disks on metal as it gouges the metal surface, leaving lots of tiny scratches, and an overall rough surface, which will rust (oxadise) instantly when/if you use wet and dry to finish sanding the panel. You'll then have to etch the panel to remove the oxidisation. If you use a wire brush, it leaves the metal smooth, which you can wet and dry sand, and wipe dry, and etch prime. I only use sanding disks on panels to remove the tiny surface rust patches that occur under the paint (mostly around holes).
  25. You could try here for a start. http://www.classiczcars.com/modules.php?s=&op=modload&name=Web_Links&file=index&l_op=viewlink&cid=9
