L28 turbo block in a 240Z
Assuming its a P90A head and Not a P90. When those hydraulic lifters go, they are damn expensive to replace.

Rear Quarter seam
Weld it up. It's originally a lead filled seam, but over time the lead cracks and cracks the paint also. You could re lead fill it, but it will crack again over time.

Euro Tail Lights on Ebay 280z 260z.
I have listed my Euro/Jap Tail lights on ebay. Last deal fell though, so i've put them on ebay. They are in excellent condition with no cracks or scratches. They come with the bulb holders and wiring, but the US bulb holders should fit right in to the tail lights. Postage is around USD$50. With 2 to 4 week delivery (higher charge for 3 to 10 day delivery). Will send only after payment has been cleared by my bank. If you want to give your car the Euro - Jap Fairlady look these are for you. Too Intense Restoration sell new ones for $465.95 per pair! Euro - Jap Tail Lights

New Zed article for Aussie guys
Yeah I read that article. Looks like the journalist was misinformed. I've talked to fellow Z owners owners that think Goertz designed the 240z quote "All the books I've read say he designed it". I recently bought a copy of Datsun 280Z & 280ZX, full of period magazine articles, and one magazine even interviewed Goertz when the 280ZX was released to get his opinion (He was living in the USA) and the article clearly states that Goertz desinged the 240z and it was the second car he did for nissan. (Page 30, if anyone is in a bookshop, and spots the book). As for that car in speed magazine. What are those brackets on the shock towers?

What's under your undercoating?
Actually I was meaning on the underside (outside) of the car, not under the carpet.

Convertible Conversion
Making a 240z into a convertable is cutting off one of the Z's best features - That sexy roof line. But if you must do it, id rather see a convesion that has a rear trunk lid so you can still use the rear area of the car. I like the VR 250gto convetable kit though.

What's under your undercoating?
Those photos are very, very disturbing. Makes my 240z look like it just left the factory. I've been stripping off the undersealer. It was applied to bare metal. No paint inbetween. I guess this is because paint would chip if you hit something and peel off the metal, leaving it open to rust. Where as undersealer straight onto metal will flex and still adhere to the metal, preventing rust. Anyway I want to re apply some sort of anti rust proofing, and was wondering what was the best way to do it. Undersealer straigt onto bare metal, as nissan seem to have done. Or paint it, then underseal it. Should I use that POR 15 stuff on it then underseal. What are other people doing?

Fixing headlights comination switch?
If you had access to a metal lathe you could make one out of brass or aluminium. Most high schools have lathes, well they did whin i was in school.

L28 turbo block in a 240Z
No advantage, more disadvantages. Lower static compression (dished pistons). less compression = less power. Sell the turbo engine to someone that wants a turbo and buy a non turbo L28 block.

Janspeed turbo Z car inventory & janspeed history
The book 280z and 280zx 1974-1983 has an article on a janspeed conversion for the 280z.

Top Down Cooling?
You could just make a mirrored impeller for the water pump, which would make the water pump suck instead of pump, with the same belts. But you woul also have to swap the radiator pipes around, so that you werent trying to suck hot water from the top of the radiator throught the head->block->pump->bottom hose of radiator. You'd want to suck cooler water from the bottom of the radiator through the head. Also if you had a coolant leak you wouldnt be sucking anything from the top of the radiator.
