  1. I guess smg1404 just failed the idiot/genius test.:stupid:
  2. Considering that the 350z has driver and passenger front, side and curtain srs airbags the driver was probably fine. Probably like having a go in one of those inflatable bouncy castles.
  3. Colors are White Diamond (QX1) Daytona Blue (B17) Platinum (KY0) Burning Red (AX6) Black Obsidian (KH3) Le Mans Sunset (A17) I bet if you asked them nicely (or filled out a web form, like I did) They will send you a color glossy brochure on the 350z. I might even scan it and upload it if people ask nicely. They also sent me one for the 200sx. Disclaimer: "Note:.....based on the latest product information available. Final Specifications will be determined at launch of the vechicle."
  4. Well actually they changed the rules so only V8 could race. And lets not forget Glenn Seaton was doing pretty well against the V8's in a R30(31?) Skyline FJ40 (4 cyl) Turbo back in the late 80's. Kats, the Datsun Brand was very well known in Australia, as is the Nissan brand today. Everyone knows Datsun is Nissan.
  5. Awww, come on now Steve. That's no way to talk about your Kid.
  6. Ah huh. I get it. Tanny you can forget about the other thread reply then.:stupid: Though you were being a prude.
  7. What would be even more freaky is if it were a big red shiney button saying "Dont Push" ROFL
  8. Try using the search function: you will find http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4334&highlight=Armour+All Have a read. Theres all kinds of interesting stuff hiding in ancient posts if you dig around a bit.
  9. On large areas, like the body: Mask with tape, lightly prime it with a can or primer then paint it with a can of spay paint. Use light coats to build up the color, instead of heavy coats, coz that will fill up fine detail like badges and seams. The finish you get from a can will be better than that with a brush, especially if you are a novice. Just practice spraying on a piece of cardboard to get a feel for how far to hold the can away grom the model, and how fast to move it to avoid getting runs in the paint. If you get a run on the model, you can either leave it to dry then sand it back, or wipe it straight away with turps or paint thinner (whatever it says on the can) then let it dry and sand it (less sanding if you do it that way), But be careful that the paint thinner (and paint for that matter) isn't destructive to the plastic. test it on a piece of th model that you aren't going to use (eg the moulding frame that the peices are attached to). or just go and buy a die cast model. Kyosho make the better one. Sun-Star is good, but the window frames seem a little thick, but i think it's about half the price.
  10. I heard (well read in another thread) that it eventually hardens the vinyl in the sun causing it to crack worse than if you didn't use it at all.
  11. Probably wont affect you with a 280zx, but another thing to think about with more modern cars it that the wheel has to clear the brake calipers also. Some cars have huge brake calipers like skyline GTR's and just because the offset might be right, doesnt mean the spokes of the wheel will clear the brake caliper.
  12. Oooooohhhhhhh, very nice. Am I allowed to ask how much it was?
  13. Us cars are lower spec than aussie cars. No rear sway bar, 4 speed gearbox. some have weird emmission stuff and impact absorbing bumpers. But if you could get a coupe of them stuffed into a shipping container it would probably be worth it.
  14. I was wondering what body parts are interchangeable between z's. When I had my 240z i was told a 260z bonnet (Hood) wouldnt fit, but that was over 10 years ago, and i've seen plenty of 240z with 260 turbo bonnets. Do 260z 2+2 bonnets, fenders and headlight buckets bolt straigt onto a 240z? Obviously a 2+2 hatch wouldnt fit a 240z, but what about a 2 seater hatch. I saw an ad for a guy wnting to swap a 260z hatch for a 240z, so maybe they dont, who knows? but thats just the point. It would be good to get a list going of parts that can be swapped, as 240z parts are hard to find (here in Australia), but 260z 2+2 are easy to find and are really cheap. I'm not too concerned with mechanical parts, diffs, engis etc, as there are plenty of posts about them, and with enough tinkering you can just about make anything fit. But what about parts like window winders, door catches & handles, and not jsut from z to z, but form other datsuns as well. Anybody have any experiances at swapping parts, well share your wisdom to the rest of us.
  15. Tell me sir, Do you have the box your computer came in..........?
  16. I got a Sun Star Black 1972 240z for my birthday. And sparay painting is the way to go. I sprayed my RA28 Celica, and it still looks good.
  17. I think there is a place in Brisbane, Queensland called the Z car workshop. http://www.zcarworkshop.com.au http://www.sportsclassic.com.au have a z parts section. relevant threads http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3821 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3961
  18. I was watching the simpsond the other day, and mayor Quimby left town, so all the smart people had to take over running the town. One of the things they did was remove all the green lights from the traffic lights, leaving amber and red, because traffic travels faster through amber lights. Quote "Stay amber, stay amber" Lenny, while driveng fast throught the lights. "I'm making great time, pity I have nowhere to go"
  19. Is this the Nissan Real Car Simulater game? If so you will probably be needing this. Once you have installed the game if you want to change the keys you use to play it.... Run SMIRConfig.exe and click the middle button to configure your keys. which brings up this screen (in japanese), so heres a translation. You will probably want to click the top button (from the first menu) to go to the video setup and have a look at the video settings too.
  20. Say what now? I dont get it? Was there another thread i should have read first?
  21. A Fairlady Z is the name all Z cars were sold as in Japan. Fairlady Z in Japan = 240z everywhere else. same for the 260z, 280z & zx, & 300zx. Go down to your nearest Jap import car yard and you will notice all the 300zx's say Fairlady Z on the back. Datsun Sports? Do you mean the 1600/2000 roadster convertable.
  22. To me Automatics just feel slow. Even if they are fast. I guess to me it comes from the loss you get through the auto gearbox. Theres that rev band thing (i dunno how to explain it, i dont know much about autos, but i think its something to do with the stall converter) that dulls the throttle responce through the transmission. They just dont feel as responsive as a manual where you have a direct connection to the engine and every rev gets transmitted to the rear wheels. when you rev up an auto theres that little bit of slack. Anybody know what I mean or am I just crazy? Autos are good for drag racing, people with hip problems, lazy people or people that just cant be bothered any more. Manuals are good for real racing, and for people that enjoy driving.
  23. All this talk about electric fuel pumps reminded me of a story I heard about a guy with a datsun 1200 coupe. It had an electric fuel pump fitted (i dont know why, maybe it had a newer engine fitted, but anyway) but the power supply was wired through a relay connected t the demister switch. the demister was operated via another switch located somewhere else. So anyway, this was done to foil car theives. If the "demister" aint on, the fuel pump wouldn't work and the car woulnd get very far. And it worked too. After coming out of a movie one night the car was gone, but it didn't get very far. He found it just outside the carpark, on the side of the road with the bonnet still open. Once it had used up all the fuel in the carby it just stopped and the theives couldn't get it going again. Which reminds me of another story. I read a story about a guy that glued a bunch of razor blades to the back of his car stereo before fitting it. A couple of months later someone tried to steal the stereo, but never got it. But there was a lot of blood that needed cleaning up. But i wouldn't advise anyone to do that as it's probably illegal, and might just be one of those urban myth type stories.
