  1. your probably better off asking the same question here: http://forums.hybridz.org/
  2. The Wachowski's (They did The Matrix movies) are making a feature film version of Speed Racer IMDB has Matthew Fox as Racer X (The guy from Lost if you dont know - heres a little visual aid ) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0811080/
  3. your not the only one... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25890
  4. I thought they started building the 280zx in late 1978? Of course in Marketing speak they would have called them 1979 models, but I though they actually started rolling off the production line in '78. Am I wrong?
  5. I see he's dropped his asking price. Still too though I reckon.
  6. Yeah i vote ugly too. This one was better looking http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25401 And this older one too http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16225
  7. Hey Lachlan. Is your old car going overseas, or staying in Australia?
  8. www.z31performance.com I have an 86 turbo. ran ok for the one day I drove it. Had an exhaust leak at the head, so its in pieces at the moment waiting for me to fix it. They are a b!tch to work on  no room under the hood to swing a wrench.
  9. Yeah I saw that, but too expensive for me. I just need to fix my lower dogleg areas, but theres some complex curves going on there with the wave line thingo spliting into 2 lines there. I was going to tackle it myself, but thought if there were sections available it would save me the effort of trying to fab one up.
  10. Its a pretty low vin, and they started making the S130 in 78, so i'd have to say yes it is. Does it have a compliance plate?
  11. Neither/sort of... We never got the 280Z here in Aus, thats a 260z, with a 260z hood (same as your 280z hood - or bonnet as we call them), and 260z turn signals (all our z's 240/260 had that sort of 240z style turn signals). As for the grill, I read a good how to about extending the stock grill with bits from a spare grill - cant remember where i saw it though. Ah, search is your friend found it here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25155 Theres also one on hybrid, but Daves one looks better. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=120102
  12. I think all SU carbie turbos use a draw through type arrangement for that very reason.
  13. Ok, your distinguishing between rs30 and grs30. In that case. Australia didn't get the rs30 in 77 (or so i'm led to believe) only the grs30 in 77. Nissan put the figures at 77 grs30's sold in 1977. The 2 seater was dropped from the line up in 77. The 2+2 far outsold the 2 seater here, apart from in 1974, when the split was fairly even between the 2 seater and the 2+2 (2+2 sold 157 more in 74, 554 more in 75, and 1230 more in 76). Here in Australia the cars don't get registration dates. They get compliance plate dates, which are fitted fairly soon after the cars are imported into Australia, not when the cars are registered. So it would be impossible to know when a car was first registered, unless you had the original paperwork from the car being registered. For example one of the guys here in WA has a 1976 GRS30 (unless thats a typo) that was one of the last 260Z 2+2 sold in WA in 1978. I'm not sure when Nissan started to wind down production of the S30, maybe one Alan T would know more about that.
  14. yeah or at least a waterproof car cover. But i think those photos are pretty old so maybe things might have changed since then.
  15. Eulogy for a 240K Sedan. Well after a year and a half of trusty service, it looks like the 240K sedan is bound for the wreckers yard in the sky. Some electrical gremlins I cant be bothered tracking down have forced it off the road. It's also coming into winter here, and the car refuses to start in the morning if it has been raining (would start fine if it was dry). A serious affliction of rust that had taken hold long before I bought the car. I knew that this its remaining time left on this earth would be short lived, but I bought it anyway, and enjoyed driving it. Its passing shall not be in vain. Parts of it will live on in a 240K coupe (i have plans for the P90 F54 combo). Until that time, I'll have to get out in the shed and fix the 300zx turbo I bought 4 months ago. Rest in Pieces 240K Sedan. May no-one ever tarnish your wheels with holden hubcaps ever again.
  16. Yes and no. Yes its From Wangan Midnight, but not from the video. That video is for the Playstation 2 game. If you dont know what wangan midnight is, ..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wangan_Midnight Its a manga about 'Akio' (that him in the picture) who gets a S30 Z from a junkyard and races it on the wangan line. (thats a freeway/highway in Japan) It was also made into 4 movies. I've only ever seen the first one. It was also made into a series of arcade games and computer games. Theres a new WM game out soon for the PS3 - see youtube for the video. It also soon to be made into anime. Links: www.wmexpressway.net
  17. I believe the last 260z's we got in Australia were 1977 models, some of which may have been sold in 1978, but were 77 (some may have even been 76) delivered cars, that just sat in the lot waiting to be sold. I also hear that the UK got the left over 2+2's up to 1979 (you'd be in a better position to comment on that), while here in Australia we got the 280ZX (S130) in late 1978.
  18. Well I'm sure that all the bits you don't need - chrome trims, windows, etc would be welcomed by some of the guys in the prince gt club. Here's Johns GT incase you feel inspired to save the old rust bucket. http://www.princeskylinegt.com
  19. So how's the project going to make a mirror image mirror Will?
  20. Ah, so Nissan never bothered to make a LH driver side mirror. They just put the RHD JDM mirror on the other side and rotated the mirror. (its like the handbrake thing all over again). Heres a pic of how the mirror should look on the drivers side - (left of photo, RHD Drivers side). The drivers side mirror is supposed to be angled towards the car, not away from it. So that the mirror sits close to the car. And on the right of the photo ( LHD drivers side, RHD Passenger side) is what you LHD consider to be normal, when actually, if Nissan hadn't been so slack you would have got a mirror image of the RHD mirror on your drivers side, and then they could have used both left and right mirrors on both LHD and RHD cars, one for each side.
  21. If you took all of Alan's thread posts about z cars, he could have written the definitive book about z's twice over by now.
  22. Well, the z originally came with a mechanical fuel pump. Not sure when they added the electric fuel pump in the US. My guess is that a PO (Previous Owner) added an electric fuel pump, and that is the switch to turn it on/off.
  23. I don't think it looks goofy at all, and because it is the original factory type mirror it looks correct (and because its the nissan part you do have to pull the door panel off to get at the nut to remove it).
