  1. An LD28 crank is not really an option for you Tom. It would mean you would have to get different rods and different pistons. Also they are hard to get, and anyone in Aus that is selling one, wants an arm and a leg for it. If you have friends or rellies in NZ, then they are pretty easy to find and relatively cheap too. If you go the LD28 crank route, I think you would be building a 3.1 litre stroker engine, and should have a read of these before deciding to: http://www.geocities.com/inlinestroker/ http://zhome.com/rnt/3.1Cobb/3.1engine.htm http://zhome.com/rnt/3.1HanveyProject.htm If you go the standard route, and go one size overbore with appropriate pistons, if you still have the option to go the next size later, if you need to. If you go the max overbore straight away, and ever need a re-bore, you would be looking for a new block.
  2. That wont work, unless you leave one wheel on the ground. If both wheels are in the air and the car is in gear, all that will happen is the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction to the wheel you are turning.
  3. Yep. L20ET. Not a much of a performace motor. FJ20 was in the R30, they are getting old and harder to find parts for. Better off using a SR20 than an FJ, as they are newer and parts are easier to get. Also the Ebay ad says "Possibly the only one of its type in USA" - Its not the only C210 in the USA 77Japan has one http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18484&highlight=vegas
  4. Speaking of magazine articles. I saw in a classic type magazine an article about the restoration of a ferrari 250 GTO (a real one, not a 240z in bodykit) in England. Was interesting to see a GTO stripped back to its tube chassis. And last month there was an article about a 250GTO owner in the USA that uses his GTO as a daily driver.
  5. Yep, but that doesnt make it a GT-R, just a lookalike, and it had an L series engine.
  6. Pics are probably too big. if you resize them to 640x480 it should work.
  7. There was a set of 4 new old stock ones on ebay last week. Sold for AU$105.70
  8. ROLF forget to log out and someone else (the misses perhaps) used the computer? Maybe its L33t haxors? Moonpup, is that link work safe?
  9. Yes, I guess the point i was trying to make is that they weren't referred to as "Series" changes by the manufacturer (were they?), like they are these days with modern cars. I often see adverts on TV for the latest [insert bland econo-box appliance car name here] Series X car now with [trivial marketing gimmick]. The article I was referring to was the link Arne posted: What year is my Z. http://zhome.com/History/1970or1971.html I just thought it would be appropriate to mention the diff relocation in that article too.
  10. Our Aussie 240z underwent similar changes though from the article on the z home site, we would tend to call series 1, series 1, and what they call series 2, 3 and 4 as Series 2. These are just terms invented to describe the changes as the 240z evolved. I find it interesting that the zhome article makes no mention of the changing of the differential location, or what series it changed in.
  11. They are thin, like half a millimeter or so.
  12. And the winner in the unrestored POS class. Bill Ramsey.
  13. You dont need to be old to appreciate good guitarists. Guess you are into the rap music Bill, with that purple pimp suit you own.
  14. Mainling lists, arent for me. I prefer forums, and this is the best Z forum I know of. Didn't Mike arrange something with the IZCC so that when you signed up here you got a IZCC number. I recall being told I had a IZCC number because I was a members here, but have never tried to join the IZCC. I cant find anywhere that tells me my number now though. Or maybe that was a CZCC number? Anyways, the important thing was I had an onion in my belt, as it was the style at the time. this might have been it: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6077&highlight=IZCC+number It seems that feature got lost in an upgrade. I wonder if we still get discounts at places?
  15. They are in the USA, 240z's are common and easily replaced.
  16. I think if you open up the diff you can tell if its lsd or not. If its a LSD R200 it would be worth putting it in the S30.
  17. Depends on how many burnouts you want to do Bill That Z31 ZXT in your gallery should have an R200 LSD shouldn't it?
  18. I'm jumping on the "Dont sell it" bandwagon. Do you need to sell it? Maybe you could store it at your parents house? If you cancel the rego, it will cost you nothing. Maybe you could take it to Melbounre with you? What if the job doesn't work out, and you end up back in Queensland? Keep the car for now, go work in Melbourne, and decide in 6 months from now. You might feel differently then. If you need the money for the move, then get a loan. You can always earn more money, but where can you find another K like yours to replace it, if you decide you want it back?
  19. Yeah, for some reason I though it had an FG bonnet. Might ask lurch if he knows.
  20. Not trying to be rude or anything, but you will find more people into swapped motor z's over at www.hybridz.org. That's the forum for modified z's. This forum is more about keeping it original (or at least nissan under the hood).
  21. You could string the lefty upside down and play it right handed, like a mirror image Jimi Hendrix.
  22. So what happened to your K and why are you wrecking it?
  23. Theres one for sale on ebay in Mellb http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=197558#post197558 Transporting one from over east would cost around $1000.
