  1. From the title i though this thread might be about this car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4516977644&category=6187
  2. Dunno. I havent bought a welder and learnt how to weld yet. But I plan to soon.

Original Gearbox (if known, manual/ auto) Original Differential R180 R200 (if known, probaly the same as the one thats still in there) Paint Original Code (if known, was on a sticker just infront of the radiator) Current Colour Interior Colour First Name Surname Email * City/Suburb * State (if in Australia) Country Postcode * * These details are kept private. 4. Buy/borrow a welder and learn how to weld.
  5. Yeah. Right here. Search the forums and you will fing info about haw to do ust about anything to a Z. Is all been done before. Thers also a book called how to restore your Z car by Wick Humble. I have it, but havent read it. I tend to just jump in a do it. I can usually work out how things come apart without having to refer to diagrams, unless i get really stuck
  6. I thought it was mounted on a steel x frame.
  7. Never, huh. So why did nissan fit a V8 to a 240z and test it in the development stage? Sure they never went ahead and produced a V8 Z, but they did test a S30 chassis with a President V8 motor. They concluded that a V8 would be detrimental to the handling of the Z. Anyway, that was a iron block V8. Modern V8's are alloy and don't weight too much more than a L6.
  8. Yeah. the reason the floors rust out, it that the floors have no paint on them what so ever. The tarmat sound deadening was applied straight onto bare metal on the inside of the floor, and air pockets between the tar and the metal (like where there is a seam) start to rust over time (the paint was then sprayed over the tarmat) . On the outside the tar was sprayed on like paint. A couple of scrapes on kurbs and speed bumps, even stone chips, leaves exposed metal which then starts to rust. If Nissan had painted the surfaces first, then applied the tar, there would be alot less rusty Z'z around. I'd strip the tar off the interior of the Z because it may look fine, but there could be rust lurking underneath. Mine has some slight rust in the boot tray between the seats and the spare wheel well, where the curved indents are, that you would not have known was there untill it ate its way through the othere side. Glad I stripped all the tar out.
  9. It looks right to me. Its not the same colour as the car paint thats for sure. Picture ma have been lightend up electroically. Also, nt everybody has their monitors set to the same colour amd brightness settings.
  10. Thanks Steve. Just a note on Build dates. If the compliance plate is missing, I noticed on the underside of the 260Z dash there seems to be a date molded into the dashboard, which could give an approimate date of build of the car. I cant remember what side it was on, and the dash is now in storage, but I have a picture of it. Its on the underside of the dash, either near the glovebox, or the steering column. This ones a 74, 3rd month, if mu theory is correct.
  11. Hi Steve, and everybody else that posted their Vin numbers. Since I'm a web programmer, and webmaster of the wazcars.com website, and also a Z enthusiast and owner, I decided to set up a Australian and New Zealand S30 Z register. I have done this mostly to get stats of the kind that are available for HLS cars, but for HS cars, and to determine the number of cars left in OZ and NZ. I know Steve has done alot of the ground work, collecting alot of HS30 information, but its not much good to people if no one has access to it. The interface is still in it's infancy, and I hope to develop better was to display the collected data fairly soon, but for now there is just a list, like the one at zhome.org. It's only for cars in Australia and New Zealand at the moment, I may add other countries if i get asked to. Please try to enter as much data as you can. Individual car data will be displayed on the site once I have checked the data for obvious errors. View the registerd cars for an idea of what will be displayed and what wont be displayed on the website. There is also a register of cars that are dead. (their information is still valid as a statistic). There are a few private import S30 and S31 cars in Australia (US HLS30 and Fairlady Z) so they have been included in the register. I can generate statistics omitting the foriegn market cars. Steve, contact me admin at wazcars.com and i'll see about giving you access to the database. Please register your cars so that we can see how many Z cars are left. http://www.wazcars.com/index.php?action=anziregister
  12. Did you try a nissan dealer? I wonder how much they would charge, or if any are left at any nissan dealers.
  13. You'd need to post a few more pics of the problem ares, like floors, battery tray area, etc. The only rust i can see is the rear wheel arech and bottom of the doors (but i am looking at the pics on a TV). The hatch looks like its from a different car. Some cars rust badly in one or 2 areas, and are fine in others. My car has a rusted out wheel arch, and doglegs, but the floors are completly rust free. Sure it looks very dirty and untidy, but you cant judge a book by its cover. Get in ther and rip up the carpets and sound deadening.
  14. Nope. Similar to a door lock but shorter i think.
  15. THis guy had the same problem http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=110839#post110839
  16. The convertalbes look nicer. Strange little cars these ones. More like a motocycle with an identiy crisis. They had 600cc engines, which were essentially just motorcycle engines, and the rear axle was driven by a chain, not a prop shaft.
  17. Loose the Hubcaps alfa. They look at home on a Hyundai excell, not on a 240K
  18. Undo the filler hose from the tank at the bottom. If you remove the little panel in the wheel arch, it gets you better access to the clamp that holds it to the tank
  19. which is why its in the 240K discussion forum
  20. P.S. the Red one is a Road Signature Die cast 1:18 scale
  21. That would be this one then I guess (see photo) This is the one I have. Havent opened it. Maybe when I finish building my 1972 240Z 1:1 scale Take lots of photos Lachlan. Make a web page of how it all came together. You going to build it as a ZG or just a Z I think it can be either cant it?
  22. As Forest Gumps mother always says "stupid is as stupid does"
  23. If its a 240z model your making heres my steering rack.... The silver bit is alloy and holds the pinion, the rack tube is steel, and is painted black. the bits sticking out the rubber boot are bare metal and unpainted (the white tape, i put there so that i know approximately where to screw the ball joints up to) i guess you could paint them a metal colour.
