Bad advice guys. Much more complicated than a simple twist. Better find other advice.
  2. I've got some NOS front and rear bumper mounts if you're interested. I'm over near Dallas. Still have dealer tags on them. PM me, and we can talk;
  3. Just got my parts today, and they are an excellent knockoff. I am very pleased. i hopre they make more repops. DK
  4. 10-4 Did my 73 two years ago. Just took out the auto brake pedal, and put in the clutch and brake pedals out of another manual box. Super easy! Running the clutch lines is another story. DK

Did my '73 two years ago, and the driveshafts are the same. DK
  6. 205/50/16? They look like 17s
  7. I had Sumitomo 215/60/14s on my 14x5.5s and they were a very good tire for the money. I have 215/60/14 Yokohamas too, and they have been excellent also. I'd go with either one. BTW, 215s are harder to find, unless you go with BFGs. So, looks like you're best bet is the 205s. DK
  8. 73 was the first year. Came with the flattops to aid in preventing vapor lock maybe?Plus there might have been some emission ramifications too. It came on when ignition was turn to start only, as I recall. Mine stayed on all the time as the PO had set it up that way. I think the harness is there though if you want to retrofit. DK

If you want cheap/free, go to Home Depot/Lowe's, and ask the guys in the building materials dep. if they'd let you have the plastic wrap off of any of the palletized concrete products. This is a thin but very tough 3ml. plastic wrap that you can make of vapor barrier out of. Might take two, but the guys that work there will be happy to give them to ya. Make sure the cut the cover down one side, so you can use the top part of the cover to make you barrier. If you don't understand what I mean, just go be the store and look at the concrete goods that they leave out in front of the contractors entrance.

$250 to a friend. But, that was with a good set of 215/60/14 Sumitomos, and 4 good center caps. By the way, my caps were cylindrical style with black ribs. Original owner put them on in '78.

Not sure of the name, but I have 4 NOS center caps if your interested. I had the same wheels, but sold them with old caps. Let me know if your interested. DK

wish I would've payed more attention to this post. I would have traded my stock front end for your airdam. Damn!
  13. I converted my with early brackets and bumper. '73 is an oddball bumper as are the fillers. Too bad, I had perfect rt. and lft. fillers I just sold for $75 with a perfect center piece. DK

I had three, and Kevin had Southeastern Freight come by and pick them up. The shipping alone was $415, which he paid. I was happy to see them go! Plus, I had $300 to put into my Z. DK

I know that car very well. It originally came from Datson Datsun in Midland Texas. Later, it was restored and brought to North Texas Nissan in '02 for they're grand opening, along with a restored black 1600 and a restore white early Patrol. All three sat out front for a year, then the Z went out back where it sat and faded for three years. The Datson dealer emblem was stolen(That's is the actual name of the former Datsun dealer in Midland), and the car sat under a cover which eventually rotted away. I guess you could say it was as close to a "factory" restore Z as you could get. But, I studied it carefully, and know that it is/was far from a rustfree shell. Both rear quarters have been patched from the doglegs to and around the wheel flairs. The rockers seemed solid, but still showed signs of rock chips in past paint merely covered with new paint. The doors are wavy to say the least, and the undercarriage has had a healthy coat of undercoating applied. The intererior was mostly NOS as well as the exterior emblems, bumpers, etc. So, you be the judge. True, you couldn't restore a decent one for what they're asking, which six years ago the asking price was more than $20K. Anyway, just a little more info for the interested. DK

Here's some pictures of the fuel pump and bracket from my 5/73 240. DK
  17. Strange, my '73 came with a factory rear swaybar. Brackets are spot welded to the frame rails in front of the swingarms. I guess it was owner installed by a PO.

Good luck! I had to by one two months ago(it leaked tranny fluid), and it was 98$ from Nissan. Try another parts house. DK

  20. Just an update. Picked up my vent hoses as recommended by Arne. Prices have gone up from Arne's purchase date. 17239-E4601 is now $36.35, and 17235-E4601 is now $71.22. I got the Z club discount on these parts too. Who knows, you all might pay less or more depending on your location. I'm getting the long hose from Napa.
  21. Don't touch it! It's only original once. Clean it, polish it, detail it, leave the wear. Just my opinion.

  23. I have an "early" 74 260 dash harness. Might have the engine compartment harness too. Had to scrap the car due to rust, and I figured the 260 harnesses might be of value to somebody someday. let me know if your interested. DK
  24. Dude! I bought front and rear NOS euro(no hole) bumpers this year for $700. Guess I did pretty good. The guy even through in some newly recover 260 seats for free. My point is, old bumpers in good condition are only worth $500 if you can find someone to buy them for that. I have an attic full of bumpers, all of which I would consider in excellent shape. Infact, I have taken some of the dull ones, and welded up the holes and taken 80 grit after them to get the chrome off to do exactly what you want to do to yours. Hate to see you do that, when you might be able to sell them for good money, and buy some sub-prime bumpers and weld them up and paint them. Just my 2 pennies.

Unfortunately, Texas has all the rust issues that the rust belt has. Just takes three or four times longer for deterioration. I have three Texas Z's with bad floors, doglegs, frame rails, lower door and fenders, and rear wheel flare rust. Our problem is lots of dust, which eventually settles and works it's way into these areas. This intern turns the dust into a moisture sponge starting the internal rust-out problems. The magnitude of these problem is far less the the rust belt, and northeastern states. I guess what I saw in the pictures didn't seem that bad. But, It's not my car, and I was just voicing my opinion. I just hate to see anyone get started on a project, and end up with a garage full of parts and shells. Anyone need any parts,or some rollers with minimal rust?
