Valve Adjusting
New plugs and swapped between positions The reason I say it is not firing is that the engine is running very rough as in not all cylinders and as I pull the spark plug wires that one cylinder makes no difference in the way the engine runs the others you can tell a difference in the engine.

Valve Adjusting
thanks for all of the tips it made it easier to do. well some were a little lose so I tightened them up and also put the guide back in place. tapping noise is gone but that cylinder is still not firing. the wires are the old ones but there is a spark coming out of the wire and if I switch wires it still doesn't fire up with a wire from a cylinder that does fire up, and yes I swap both ends of the wire to make sure. so it is either the cylinder but why? or could it be the distributor? I replaced the cap and rotor though. So any tips or ideas would be welcomed keep in mind that I had the engine running fine until this happened

Valve Adjusting
thanks, which nut is which? is the top one the lock or the bottom one?

Valve Adjusting
the oil is fine as I already drained once before starting and poured clean oil and mystery oil all over the cam so this might have been old oil stuck under the guide. I will try the suggested method for reinstalling the guide Any info on the procedure for the lock and adjuster?

Valve Adjusting
Well I hit a bump on the road, after getting the engine running and being happy, it started to have a tap that increased with rpm's, so I figured it was valve related (hoped it was) so I took the valve cover off and found one of the little guides off and laying on the bottom, see pic, you can see the valve missing it and the guide on the bottom. I have researched it and looked at the FSM, and I have found basic instructions but missing some details, I found this pic on this forum My questions are: 1. Can the guide be put back in with just loosening the locking nut and adjusting the arm all the way up or do I need to remove cam 2. I see the two nuts on there on 43.6b above, which is the locking and which is the adjusting and which directions to turn them (I assume bottom is locking) And any other tips or info, I don't want to break anything and create more work. Thanks.

Sad day in the world of comedy
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24882071/ This is sad, every time I see someone like him pass away I see my childhood, he was just hilarious with Tim Conway in the Carol Burnett show and he was just classic in Blazing Saddles forever Hedley Lamarr

New 240Z Owner
well everything is slow with this project, it is making my nutZ Got the new fuel pump but when I tried to remove the spacer from it, it broke so then I had to order a new pump spacer, then I went on a business trip but finally got to work on her today. I installed the new pump but still had issues keeping her running, so I used my powers of deduction and after much trial and error I realized the car was only running on the fuel I would put in the floaters so I disassembled the floaters and noticed the valves in the floaters were clogged so I disassembled them and made sure they were clean and put everything back together. I didn't put any fuel in the floaters this time and after a few seconds she started up and ran well, idle still a little high around 1k but will work on that later. Also got all of the brake parts so hopefully we are on track now.

ZDayZ 2008, The Tail of the Dragon ravages two 350Z's
I went a couple of years ago and that was enough for me, half the people want to race the other half wants to have a big frat party, people drove like idiots, my front lip got beat to hell on my 350Z and it cracked me up how many Infiniti's were there considering it is called Zdays, those Z wanabees I would like to go again but not with such an event and not to race the dragon just drive it and enjoy the place.

Water leak between head and block
unfortunately assuming the head is straight might be what is the issue. I would take the head to the machine shop and have them check the surface for straightness and machine if necessary. quality of headgasket or torque of the head bolts should not be an issue if you have not even started the car yet, unless you just have the head sitting on the block not tightened down or the gasket has obvious damage.

Brake Booster Hose - Engine Side
Yes I conquered the gas tank, I even had the car running nicely until I found the fuel pump leaking like crazy so now I have a new pump but the spacer broke into a few pieces when I was trying to take it off the pump, so now waiting on a new spacer to arrive. Are you going tomorrow to the shop? I would love to go but this weekend my younger son graduated from high school and it is a little crazy around here. yeap George's looks like yours with the little extra bend so it should work

Nissan Repro Program Car on Ebay
You can't compare those programs from limited models, limited production and market companies to an attempt by a company the size of Nissan. Yes it was a publicity event but you have to admire that a company that size could get in agreement and put something like it together I for one being new to this am glad that these subjects come up and I learn about the process and what went into them.

Brake Booster Hose - Engine Side
That looks like it is it George, I will pm you my address. I agree that is what it looks like Arne, and I have no problem with relocating the pick up if another version of the hose was all that is available and the seller confirmed it was the only one available and had superseded previous versions but this one I got is not even close, I could probably cut it and make it fit somehow but that is not right.

Brake Booster Hose - Engine Side
thanks but I have that one and it is not it

Brake Booster Hose - Engine Side
I know that the hose is NLA and no one even MSA or BD carries any longer for the 240Z. S I bought one from Ebay from a user than sells a lot of Z stuff, I asked if it would fit as it looked like it had more bends in it than mine had and I was reassured it did. I figured that at worse case I would have to relocate the spot where it connected to the engine, but now that I have it I can't see where it would go. Below are pics: First is of the current hose that came with the car Second is of the new hoselaid next to the old hose Third is of seeing how it would go if I moved the pick up to the spot in front of the current one Fourth is of putting it where I have seen other Z's with it but as can be seen it just doesn't seem to fit anywhere, the seller just said to turn it around but the hose doesn't have the right angle bends on both ends that seem would make it work properly. Any ideas/comments such as where to get the right one, or if by chance someone has made this one work. Thanks

Nissan Repro Program Car on Ebay
Very nice Z hope to get mine to look like that some day One thing though that struck me was the gas tank, for a "resotred" Z it didn't look that great or is it me? everything else looks so nice.

New 240Z Owner
thanks, Carl has been a great help from finding her to getting her running and I am sure I will continue to bug him as time progresses

New 240Z Owner
Thanks Carl, it was such an incredible feeling when she cranked up. I did take my time and followed all of the recommendations you and others gave me and went a little further, I put in the ATF a while ago as I didn't know it was going to take so long to get it all together, so it sat with the ATF for weeks, then I turned by hand and it was really smooth, since I didn't know how much longer it was going to be I put a little more ATF in and then about a week before starting her up I put a little miracle oil in to give it a little lubrication since the ATF had probably cleaned everything away. I also had put oil a couple of times on the timing chain and cam. Next up: Fuel pump - I am going to check it out today before replacing it Brakes- replace mc and wheel cylinders Tires and then roll.....
