Yes, they are stupid expensive. Congrats on getting them. Every one of these I have obtained (used) needed dolly work. At least you didn't have to mess with the latching drawers or key lock. What a PITA!
  2. I'm done here. I posted a reasonable suggestion of why the OP may not have had the info on the prior seller, but since then the OP has indicated that he knows the name and the former, key word being FORMER address of the prior owner and that information has been withheld due to the OP's concern of privacy issues (I agree) , but that lack of information continues to be an excuse of why the accusations have continued. @M3333hp I understand the desire to track the HISTORY of the vehicle currently in your ownership. Other than following what Carl Beck stated with a PI, you could spend countless hours searching here for your car from the former owner(s). I myself, like to help people. One thing I have learned though, is that if I don't have first hand knowledge, I stay out of the conversation unless specifically tagged. I won't post unverified information. Sure, it's posted on CZCC, but did you verify it? Do you own that model car? Sometimes posting unverified information leads one in a misdirection. (Post #3) I'm guilty of it. I don't do that anymore. Guess that's part of the reason I don't have a high post count. Lastly, I apologize for misdirection on the use of the "@' symbol. When using the '@' symbol, the poster needs to type a few letters of the user name and click on that user's name in order to 'tag' them by the 'blue box' and send an email. @wal280z
  3. You did make TWO sets of these, yes? You KNOW I need this, yes? ???
  4. @M3333hp adding the '@' symbol prior to a user name on the forum will tag them and send an email to them. @Carl Beck @Zed Head Congratulations on steering this topic off topic. The OP has not indicated in any way of VIN tampering or otherwise obtaining a title under false pretenses. YOU have brought that up. The OP was requesting information on obtaining information on where the car was originally sold. In Canada, or the US. That is what I read from his original post. Does the Oregon DMV show the prior owner on it's title?? In Virginia, it doesn't. So, if he bought it as he stated, some years ago, unless he is OCD and keeps good records and files everything, he may not have the seller's info that he bought it from now. Heck, I bought my daily driver in July, obtained a title by legal means, and can't tell you the name of the person I bought it from. Sheesh. It's too bad that even 'confused' reactions that get reputation points.

There's a small clue in the picture he posted.... Unless this is one of those mysterious models with passenger brakes....

Before downloading, PLEASE read the comment
  7. To answer the wondering question, I did my internal regulated swap and the volt meter works fine. Did you double and triple check the connections? Just to be clear, the voltage regulator in your car should not be connected once the conversion is complete. You are losing around 0.23 horsepower carting around useless weight... I'm sure that number is low, I didn't actually do the math ?
  8. Not me. I just got in about an hour ago and unpacked my keyboard and found it didn't survive the bumps and jitters on the road. So, I'm stuck trying to type on my laptop, and I can only see it going downhill from here. Typing, that is....?
  9. I realize this is a build, and NOT to hijack your thread, but if you need an A/C block off bulkhead rubber gasket and fascia plate, find this in the junkyard....
  10. @SteveJ With (currently) Hurricane Michael (Cat3) forecast to pass to the SE Of Atlanta as a tropical storm, what can we expect for updates for any changes? Florence dumped a lot of rain, and although Michael will be faster moving than her, he is still going to dump some rain. This post is probably premature as I will see what he dumps when he passes over my area Thursday night / Friday morning. I hope all the best for everyone in his path.

Glad you found your replacement. I thought the 75 had an ammeter / fuel gauge. Snip from the 1975 Diagram. The 1976 was the first to use the Volt / Fuel gauge. Snip from the 1976 Diagram

That looks like it came out of a 1976 280Z For 1977 & 1978, Nissan changed the font style (at least for US Spec cars, not sure about for other markets) @SoCalJim I looked and looked for my spare gauges and all I could find were tachs and speedos, er, speedometers. Sheesh. But, thanks for posting your ad - in the searching I found my box of combination switches!!!
  13. Reference: 1995 Nissan Pathfinder & 1993 Nissan D21 Pickup Truck In the picture below, the top-most AC feed through bulkhead gasket came off a 1995 Pathfinder. Still very much pliable. Now this gasket does have a 'dust-shield' that wasn't original to the Z, but that could be easily removed with a razor blade. The middle blank off bulkhead gasket came off a 1993 D21 series pickup The bottom blank off bulkhead gasket is original to the 280Z I was looking at the Pathfinder as it was the newest model with a V-belt, rather than a serpentine belt. I didn't have a tape measure while I was there, but the condenser looked very close to the type and size, and would need to be investigated if anyone wanted to research that.
  14. I am so BUSTED.... Nice to have fellow upstanding law abiding citizens on here..
  15. Buwhaaahaa.... Nice. Not to worry,....I'm bringing (now say it in the Hank Hill voice) "evaporators and evaporator accessories" so we can discuss HVAC upgrade options... First time trip to Atlanta - since this is Coca-Cola's HQ, do I need to smuggle my Pepsi in??
  16. @Captain Obvious Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and your love for the diagram.
  17. @Captain Obvious - you are correct, I did not change the wire colors from the harness to the device side - I suppose that the BE section may indicate proper wire colors on the device, but that would be another large hurdle, but it could be done. The ONE thing that I did add to the diagram that was not on the original from Nissan was the dashed line indicating the firewall, so users could find the devices easier.
  18. I'll be there...
  19. Same here. Fuel light in radio/heater control bezel. I thought I had one in my stash, but I only have the rear defogger and fasten seat belt light spares. If I had to guess, either from an 810 of the same era. <edit> I do have a radio bezel with a blank off plate where the fuel light resides on the '77Z, I *think* I may have acquired it from a '75 or '76, the latter being more likely as I haven't parted any '75's out. <edit again> Just realized that was probably my doing, as it appears the "Floor Temp" indicator light uses the same blank off plate. too many parts to keep track off..... it's a disease...
  20. Note to all: There have been updates to this - Please see the thread at http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11727-color-wiring-diagram-for-280z/ to download the latest version.
  21. Welcome to the disease, as others has stated... I find your photos interesting, fascinating..... You have a fine candidate for refreshing, restoring, or whatever you wish. Pic #5 (.....411.jpg) shows an intact battery tray, as well as pic #7 (.....491.jpg) Usually this area succumbs mother nature and father rust. (no sexism implied) Can you do a favor and post odometer, gas/brake/clutch pedal pictures and door frame VIN pictures? I have a feeling that the odometer may indicate actual mileage.... As you stated it has not been titled since 1978, perhaps you may want to investigate when was it last registered. Can you identify the license plate as shown in Pic #10 (......271.jpg)? It looks somewhat European or even homemade to me. Do you have any other information on the back story of this? Did you pull it out of a garage or barn to put it on your trailer? Good find regardless of your answers - and now, a shameless self--plug...... be sure and download the wiring diagram for the '77 (in color) here (go to the end of the post and download the latest version) http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11727-color-wiring-diagram-for-280z/ Good luck - this site has almost all of the info you need... perhaps all of it if you dig deep 'nuff. Wayne <edit - missed all the squiggly red lines for spelling errors>
  22. Have you compared your speedometer readings with GPS? My speedo was off by 15mph before I swapped to the correct speedo gear for the rear end.
  23. I know I've posted this before but dang if I can't find the darn posts either! Eagle Day , PORSCHE, BMW, MERCEDES, AERO KITS, APPAREL, ACCESSORIES, PERFORMANCE I've used these guys a couple of times in the past. Never any problem with small quantities. I've gotten replacement bullet connectors w/ sleeves from them before.
