OK guys and gals...... next up on the Pay It Forward thread.... In case anyone has forgot what Marty posted way back in 2009, nearly a decade ago (and yes, the thread carries on, Thank you @Marty Rogan) Up for grabs this time is one of the last remaining bits of a 1973 240Z, VIN HLS30-1630XX HEATER CONTROL arse'Y Includes a 3 lever control arm arse'y for adjusting various functions of the cabin ventilation back in the day. I cannot verify if it 'ran when parked'. I did NOT verify if the fan control knob changed positions. I also DID NOT use pliers or vise-grips to check if it worked. There are NO KNOBS or any type of BEZEL included with this. The pictures below show what is included. Please note: These parts have been sitting in my covered patio, but not climate controlled patio for SEVERAL YEARS. I CANNOT guarantee if ANYTHING works. Some cables were seized, however, they were removed to simplfy the shipping process, but they are in the box. Also included are the 4 cable clamps, if I counted correctly. I have already boxed the item up. I had to add layers of cardboard so the levers would not try to do any site-seeing on their travels. I apologize up front about the picture quality (and the dirty kitchen floor), I'm not a professional photographer, professional cleaner, or a shady used car salesman... All I ask from you is you to pay USPS Flat rate shipping for (what I believe is) a MEDIUM box, current rate in the CONUS is $13 and some change. If, after reviewing the pictures, you want this item. please reply to this post and then send me a PM. It's just that simple. Thank you for helping me de-junk parts that may be valuable to you, but have less value than $0.02 to the scrap man... EDIT: I HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE THIS OFFER BASED ON JOIN DATE, POST COUNT OR REPUTATION...

@Jeepers92 - a small suggestion for you - after replacing the fusible link as Captain Obvious mentioned, if that cures your issue, that's great. But, before unwrapping your harness, give it a slight twist (reference my first picture) leading from that 4-way intersection of wires about 4" towards the alternator, and about 4" up to the fusible links. Those are the two areas where the wires are spliced. No need to open Pandora's box unless you absolutely have to.... Usually, if the key is left on in the ignition, you will HEAR all sorts of relays clapping once they get a good 12V feed....
  3. I didn't watch the video, but I am guilty of hoarding old brake fluid in various containers, and recycle that stuff when I visit the track. If there is no dedicated 'brake fluid only' it goes in with used oil container.

@Mike - It appears as though I cannot edit the title of this thread. Can you? I was able to update the title in the download section, thank you for transferring 'ownership' Thanks!
  5. Have you heard of Auveco? They supply lots of little plastic items like this - and although I have downloaded their catalog, I haven't sat down to actually LOOK at it... https://www.auveco.com/

Not to discredit any of the above advise, but from what I have experienced, 80% of the issues arise due to the 'vintage wiring connections' available at the time of production. First picture shows an unmolested harness from the fusible links to the main harness. The circled area is the highlight of my post. Unwrapping the harness gave an abundance of gritty, sand type substance. My best guess is that the harness from the fusible link acted as a 'funnel' for atmosphere & water to weep into the harness. Pic #2... As you can see, I have unwrapped more of the 'upper left' harness, which, in reality, feeds from the alternator. Now, once in that hornet's nest, I discovered why I was having so many electrical issues that I couldn't chase down but to the fusible links, changing them never helped. Pic #3 shows a close up of the factory 'crimp' connection, which is now non-existent. Well, I guess I got a bit of camera shake on that last one, but you can still see the remaining amount of gritty/sand substance left on that part of the harness. The electrical 'connection' was relying on the pressure of the wrapping tape, and, whatever else obtained access..... like gritty sand... as in intermittent... I have since upgraded my fusible links from the factory to the Caddy Catera Maxi-Fuse setup. In the OEM configuration, the 3-way (front) connector had 3-80A fuses, so I was assured the assembly could handle whatever the Z could throw at it... I was able to salvage enough red wire from the donor to route into the cabin of the Z, and the blue holder shown below is a direct feed from my alternator (internally regulated)
  7. @wheee! Mark, did the unit require a core charge for the old column to be modified or was it shipped as shown with no exchange of an old column required?
  8. @Jughead I don't need them, but if you are just looking to get rid of them, post them in the "Pay it Forward" thread... Now as I wirte this, I just reminded myself to gather up some parts to get rid of....

This just popped in my email.... https://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/RND0WJHgZPTT5qevkv7ocnDqq I know Mark @wheee! is looking for some door cards.... Has an interesting front wheel...
  10. I don't either, and, not that it helps you, it was sitting on my back porch for (I don't even want to count how many years) until a recent code enforcement visit... I looked at the one I was supposed to give you, and it is plastic, however, when you keep the fan blade still and sweep your finger across the fan blades, they sound metallic. I double checked, but the fan blades are non-magnetic.

Fotomat... that brings back memories.... the last remaining local one is now a locksmith.. Phew, I was getting paranoid....

Dennis, Have you not heard of Photoshop? LOL. Ya got me there. The pictures just had "THAT" sort of fading, Hmmm, must just be me. Yo Eye Doc, I need to make an appointment...
  13. wal280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Good eye! Missed that on my first look.
  14. Just got this alert from my "DATSUN ALL YARDS" search... We all know this isn't a 240.....
  15. wal280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Is it just me, or do those photos appear to be ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHS, as in 20 years ago? Still, worth a look, Thanks!
  16. Not found in your search, but the link you originally provided in Post #2 and clicking on the quote from @Terrapin Z, it's still there. Gee, if there was someone I could trust in Washington County, Oregon to look this Z over...
  17. @Walter Moore @87mj @JLPurcell @z3beemer are a few members I can think of in that neck of the woods...

@ensys Seeing how @Captain Obvious gave the correct answer, and @CanTechZ followed up with the snip of the microfiche, do they have to split the $64???? @Zed Head Sorry, I didn't 'see' or read the humor then nor now. I guess I'm slow. As you state, Humor can be a complex subject. I know my humor can be dry, stretched, or even referring back to something 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure @zspert will add to the forum with his experience, no probably inferred. I followed the "Merry Christmas" thread, that was funny as it continued on. Again, I'm sorry I didn't see the humor in your original response. FWIW, the microfiche is available in the download section for a very small donation to support the CZCC club... Wayne Wayne
  19. I realize this is a 6 year old thread, but @zspert does carry the correct color for you all. http://www.zzxdatsun.com/catRequests.php EDIT: @EuroDat @Arne already mentioned Banzai, I did not fully read the thread prior to posting. My error.
  20. I take it the 'accordion' you 'found' in Smyrna wasn't for the '77? Hmm, oh well. Oh snap, don't tell me I spoiled you... Did you put those parts under your bed? I measured 8 3/4". I guess I need to get my eyes calibrated..... Wait, it was dark in the garage..... Yeah, that's it... @Av8ferg - if you get the blower for @Captain Obvious, I'd be happy to be a part of your relay team... And yes, the door cards will work for you - If you don't get them, I WILL.....
  21. I think every color except blue..... Blue is heart beat optional... Just to be clear, Blue in this context is not @240260280
  22. Sorry Mark, Those went away a few years ago. Those were super NICE... Now I'm having sellers remorse.... I could have doubled my money selling to you (which would be half of what the OP is selling his now)..... I digress... IIRC, I grabbed a ton of stuff off that '76 that was in the junkyard (I made monthly trips to the Eastern Shore, and took a looooong lunch). After 4 visits, the fifth visit came up empty as the man crushed that car.
  23. Chris, Sorry again to be the bearer of bad news, but the 'evap canister' you list is actually a vaccuum reservoir for 75-78 with factory installed A/C. Your example is probably the best I have seen. I'm still talking to Peter to be able to put off Paul to get them door cards....
  24. Woohoo! I work for beer! I've got to check all of my nooks and crannys, (I'm thinking I already have a spare set), but those door cards are looking better and better to me.
