Old & new auto shilft handles
I applied the silver leaf to the old auto shift handle as a test. The new shilft handle will be done next. That's a bit of silver leaf on the waxed paper.

What club features do you like or want?
Hi Mike, thanks for such a great site. I have had so many questions answered by the wonderful members here and also through the search function. And, being active and involved with my Z, I like to share information on the work I've done. I take a lot of pictures as I do things, both to jog my fuzzy memory, and also to help others who may be undertaking similar projects. I like the ability to create photo albums in the picture gallery, it's a great way to organize things. Is there a way to move photos I've already uploaded into an album? A couple of albums I created a while back are now empty, not sure what happened, as the photos are still in my gallery, just not in the album anymore. thanks!

keyed up
Hi Mike, I'm guilty of a similar purchase, though not for my Z. I have a '91 Cadillac Allante. The original Goodyear tires that came as OEM on the cars are no longer available, as they were made specifically for the Allante's and were not used on any other vehicle. I stopped in at a nearby Goodyear tire shop to see if they had any, and of course they didn't. But, the manager contacted someone at Goodyear, and found 6 tires at various tire shops around the country. I paid $1500 for all six, with the intention of keeping 4 for myself and selling the other two. Call me greedy, but I later decided to keep all 6, just in case. Did I really need them, no the car already has good tires. But, I got to thinking, if I ever get the car up to concours standards, I'll need those tires. Sad part is, I probably never will...

The Answers We Have All Been Waiting For.......
All I can say is that I feel a lot more like I do now than when I first got here.

Mark, 20 bux says you can't make it through 2006 without taking on another project... I'd say you've proven your abilities and your eye for good work with this beautiful Z!

Suspension Paint and Prep Questions
Bart, I've had good luck using Rustoleum primer & paint on suspension parts. Back in my younger years I rebuilt the suspension on a '62 Buick Special and used Rustoleum refinish the parts, plus detail the engine bay. As an off-topic note, I've been thinking that the Buick 215 might be a good candidate for a V8 swap into a Z car. It's an aluminum engine, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, very light. And, the distributor is mounted at the front of the engine, so no problems clearing the hood latch, like with a SB Chevy. I haven't really compared performance specs with the L24 or L28, so I'm not sure if it would truly make a good swap or not. Zack, sounds like you're making good progress, post some pics when you get a chance! In fact, if you've got a digital camera, it would be wise to take before & after pics as you go along. The before pics will be extremely helpful when it comes time to put everything back under your Z! At least it was for me, but then I've only got a couple brain cells left, the rest have fallen victim to the tasty barley pop I enjoy so much! Speaking of... gotta go!

Just started on my 'refresh' of my 280z (Frame Rail question)
Hi Gregg, Wick Humble's book, "How to restore your Datsun Z-car" has a good section on frame rail repair. Also a lot of other good info on how to remove, refinish & replace a lot of the parts. A good book to have, along with a factory service manual for your year. Welcome to the club and keep us posted as you make progress!

Proud New Mama
Welcome, Misty Lee. Yes, please post some pics of Felizity! I think all the 240's had the vinyl with the quilted diamond pattern. The 260's and 280's had carpet.

New Member Introduction
Hi Dan, welcome to the club. Please post a few pics of your 240Z when you get a chance! You might consider getting a factory service manual, depending on how much work you plan to do to the car. There are other manuals available (Haynes, Chilton's, etc...) but the FSM is better. In addition to Victoria British, here are a few other parts sources: Banzai Motorworks (www.zzxdatsun.com) Danny's Datsuns (www.webspawner.com/users/dannysdatsuns/index.html) MSA (www.zcarparts.com) ZParts (www.zparts.com) Rod's Discount Datsun Parts (www.rodsdatsun.com) Good luck with your Z!
