HID headlights
Does the "HID-look a like" make much of a difference compared to the stock lights?

HID headlights
Dave, I have been thinking of doing the same thing. Let us know if the Xenon HID headlamps made that much difference. Seems to be a lot of them on EBAY. Greg

Photo of American Racing Wheels
Maybe they no longer make them in the Z size? Someone else emailed me a photo of them on a 240z. I can't figure out how to post it here. I have it on a word doc. Easy to tell that I'm a little lost with that stuff! Stephen, thanks for the summit racing info. Mperdue, thanks for the photo. Greg

Photo of American Racing Wheels
I was thinking of purchasing some Amercian Racing Wheels and was wondering if anyone had a photo of them on a 240z. I looked through the gallery and didn't see any. Thanks, Greg I thinking of the Outlaw series. Like this. http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=7&name=Outlaw%20I&style=61&desc=1-piece%20alloy,%20clear%20coated§ion=A

Auto and Manual Trans Percentages
Carl, Thanks for coming up with that post #90. I continue to be amazed at the knowledge and info you people share. It looks like there are definitive numbers for 1971 with 91% being manual. Are there definitive numbers for the other years? Is it safe to assume that for 70-73 that would have stayed the same? Greg

240Z with 502 big block
My apologies for that poor choice of words. What I should have said was " the response from Beandip didn't need to be so rude." It's remarks like that from you "seasoned" club members that makes the newer members hesitate to contribute. Greg

Interesting car but what a stupid response from Beandip.

Got a welder?
Thanks for the great info. Very helpful Greg

Got a welder?
Speaking of welding! I have never welded before and having been planning to learn. I am confused by the type of welders out there and the names you guys are talking about (MIG, ARC, Stick, Spot, etc). If I wanted to be able to body repair by patching in metal and I also wanted to be able to build a rotisserie (heavier welding?) what type should I look into? What would be the easiest to work with while giving me some versatility? Price is not really the issue but ease of use is. Thanks, Greg

car shipping in North America
I used DAS last time and was happy with them. Don't forget to have cash or money order to give to the driver upon delivery. He showed up on a Sunday and I had to scramble to dig up the cash.

car shipping in North America
Make sure you request the top row if you are going by open carrier. Some shippers will do it for no additional charge. I have shipped a number of cars and the cars on the bottom get all the road debris thrown on them. They also get all the oil, gas, transmission fluid that may be leaking from the cars above. My last car(240z) I had shipped from Ca to Ma. I had it on the top row and it was pretty dirty but the cars below were a mess. There was an 40's Caddillac on the top that had been leaking something and the cars were covered with it. Don't forget that your car may be on the truck for up to two weeks.

Cleaning luggage straps?
Has anyone taken the stitches out to remove the buckles then restitched them? My buckles have rust under the straps. Looks like they are stitched in a square patteren, simple to follow with a sewing machine.

Cleaning luggage straps?
Hi, I recently purchased some used luggage straps. They are pretty grimey. I was thinking of just soaking them in a bucket of soapy water and brushing them off. Then I was going to buff out the buckles. I assume the soaking won't hurt them. Any suggestions? Thanks, Greg

Luggage Straps
Mine are missing. Can someone recommend a source for NOS or reproduction straps? Did they have an ajustment piece or buckle of some sort?

Is Hagerty Insurance the way to go?
We have used a number of classic car insurance companies through my insurance agency and have found that both Grundy & Haggerty to be reliable and competitively priced. Every state differs in their rule and regulations so you may want to check with your local agent to see if they carry a specialty company for classic car coverage. The rates don't change if you go through an agent or not for most of the companies. Also coverages & rules of usage arn't always the same so take that into consideration when comparing companies. Bumper guards
Thanks for the info. Another thing that came up is that the "new" bumper guards don't seem to have all the holes in them to put on the rubber strips. There are indentations where the holes should be but it looks like they were never punched or drilled out during manufacturing. I purchased these from MSA and they came in the Nissan box. They fit the bumper perfect. Is it normal to have to drill these out to fit the rubber strips? Greg

Bumper guards
I just purchased bumper guards for my front bumper. Mine were missing when I purchased the car. My question is when installing these should there be any kind of padding between the guard & bumper?

MidwestZ??
I just used Motorsport Auto (MSA). I compared prices and they were reasonable for what I bought. I had heard that they may be a little high. Customer service was terrific and they offered all kinds of helpful advice. This is only the First time I have used them. Nice catalog. WWW.zcarparts.com Greg

MidwestZ??
Mark, I am looking to order parts for my 73 Z. I waisted a couple of mths with MidwestZ. Who is Charlie Osborne? I was just thinking about the possibilities that could of happened at MidwestZ and it just occurred to me that Paypal uses your credit card or checking/bank account for transactions. When I did my Paypal complaint/investigation everything was still under Chloe's name. I would think that new ownership would have a new Paypal account or at least take Chloe's name off. My situation was resolved by Paypal and was still under her name. Greg

MidwestZ??
Here is the latest update: I just received a package from MiswestZ with the items that I had ordered. It appears that the Paypal investigation prompted them to send my items. There was nothing else with the package other than than what I ordered. No explanation, no bill of sale, etc. Return address on the box says MidwestZ 11700 E. Waterman #223 Wichita, KS 67207. Obviously MidwestZ is still operational. Paypal had given them until tommorrow to produce the items or refund the money. (Carl, thanks for the suggestion). What an awful way to do business, even if it's in transition. The people at this sight have show such concern and made such an effort to check on Chloe and MidwestZ with no response.

MidwestZ??
Just to keep everyone updated. I contacted Paypal 7/26 and let them know my two concerns with MidwestZ (Chloe). 1. Did they have any info in regards to any issues (health, business etc) 2. Would they help me get my payment back that I made with Paypal in June. They said they had no complaints and no info on any other issues. They also said they would investigate & contact her to get a refund or produce the items. They have given her until 8/6 to respond to to their investigation. To date there has been no response. Based on the glowing testimony from so many of you here and based on my previous interaction that I had with Chloe I can't believe she would purposly try to decieve anyone. I can only guess that something serious has happened to her. I will let you know if If anything comes of this and I'm sure everyone that has dealt with her would like to hear any new info that anyone comes up with. Greg
