  3. Some of you know that I've developed a new vice, buying wheel sets for my roadster. Being that today is the summer solstice, I guess a new style for the summer season is in order. I absolutely blame my association with club4ag.com for giving me this virus This set was made by Speed Star of Japan in the mid 80's, branded as Longchamp XR4. They were not imported to the US until they were re-introduced by Suzuka Brain 5 years ago. Even those are no longer available. This set is the original Speed Star, circa 1985. I had thought that I understood offset and wheel fitment. Last year I had developed a range of offset specs that would fit my car. Well, My specs were in error. I came to this once I came to the realization that the object was to fit the TIRE within the fenders and NOT the wheel. In other words, the actual difference between a 195/60 tire on a 6'' rim, and the same tire on a 6.5'' rim is only 3mm on each side, at the widest point of the sidewall bulge. This opened the range of what would fit greatly. Even by my most conservative estimates, I really wasn't sure these would work, until my test drive an hour ago. Much to my happiness, there is no rub. I still don't quite believe that, and you might doubt it too, once you've seen how the fill the fenders. They are 14X6.5 @ +5.5 I bought these from my car show buddy, Arnel for $400.00. I spent another $580 for straightening, de anodizing and polishing. Thanks to the wheelsmiths at Pico Wheel Service, they are now perfected.
  4. We did get that car, in the mini wagon format. I had one. tough little S.O.B. I used it as a jeep in the cypress woods of South Fla. Sold as the F10 , Guess Nissan thought Americans wouldn't go for the "Cherry" name.

  6. Buy Them! Those tires Just plain rock. I have no clue why Yokohama discontinued them. They are a lot softer than the tires we've been talking about here. I'd class them with the Azenis sports in tradwear and traction. Do you own that Awesome Yaki Cedric? Man! that's the gansta lean!
  7. the Ziex ZE-512 are excellent tires for a daily driver/sport'n around car. You may want stickier if track days, extreem canyon carving or autoX is in your plan. I have a set of 225/50/15's on my street wheels. Good on dry or wet conditions. Just great for everything to about 8/10's effort

  9. Triple 44mm Mikuni! How sexy is that! Reserch your cam, Sir. If the former owner installed those valuble carbs, without following through, your performance could suffer compared to stock rather than excel.
  10. Go to the hardware store and get a furniture rubber foot for the old ait pump intake hole in the back plate of the cleaner. Much nicer than a ball of tape.

  12. Mohammed, Go with the GR-2's. They are the smoothest of the big brand choices. Unlike you, I wanted a stiffer ride and went with the KYB Non-adjustable (Blues). They are right or me, but most likely wrong for you. This is the same recommedation we givein the roadster world too. The GR-2's are for the smoother ride with those cars too. Don't go mad.

  14. Yep, they do beautifull work. I've never opened a box from them in dissapointment! You spend the bucks, and in this case, you get your money's worth. Just wish it worked that way with the rest of the retail world.
  15. Mas at Takumi has my vote of confidence. If that means anything. As far as which, I think the traditional non machined lip is the look for wats. After all, your buying them for their old-school appearance, might aswell stick with that theme.

The Nissan ZX N/A wheels ("six point" and "iron cross") were 14X6 +12 The turbo "Swastikas" were 15X6 +12 They all used (And REALLY need) the special Nissan Lug nut, which has a wider shank than the typical "Mag" style lug for your neighborhood auto parts pusher. Yes they fit. They don't "fill the fenders" but they fit very safely.

  19. I know that,, Really I do! That was the reason behind my disclaimer. My rant is valid though if you take the prevailing theme of not just this single paragraph, in this single manga (I like mangas - the sicko sexy pervert ones). I have read quite a few books on Nissan history. Most of which have been discussed thoroughly on these forums. Most were written, in my opinion, heavily influenced by the commercial success of the Z and discount every thing else it did before as primitive and failures. There are even prominent members of this forum that often express as much. My rant addresses that, by using the quoted paragraph as my voodoo doll. It set me off, but it, in it's self, is not wholly responsible. I did say that it is possible that I just need more therapy,, yes?
  20. The first paragraph pisses me off. It's like there was nothing between the 1959 P211, which could not hold it's own on the freeway, (48hp single throat Nikki, E motor) to the victory of the Z car. Nothing - a big hole - no RL411, no roadster, no 510, All Datsun's before the Z were junk. No that's really what is says, until the Z, all those other Nissan cars sat on the docks, ignored by the American consumer. Please note - I'm describing my reaction to the first paragraph and not commenting on the value or merits of a book I haven't read. Maybe it's that I'm not quite enough of a "Z" fan, and too much of a general early Nissan fan, to accept that. Or just need more therapy. I spent last Saturday driving a sports car in a fashion that I believe for which it was designed. In that element, it's a masterpiece. I'm terribly sorry if I offend, but your Z car may be better, It may be the next phase in the evolution, But it's just not THAT much better. I'll venture to say, that with its loosey-goosey unitbody, it less of a sports car "out of the box" than it's full framed predecessor. It's just that it seems that most I read revels in the commercial success of the Z and dismisses the design success before it. Sure in the corporate world, "Money Talks", but I'm a sports car enthusiast and not an accountant.

  25. 14X6.5 @ +5 for the roadster Just about the most extreem fittment possible in the rear fenders. crossing my fingers that they do not rub. They are the true SSR's, just like the one's in your photo, and not the later, Suzuka Brain copies (the copies have "Longchamp" carved into the outside of the rim). Well they're off to the restoration shop this week!
