Ya all seen the pretty photos of my car and said nice-nice things. Now Behold on the EEEEVVIIIILLLL that lurks below the skin. The battery tray is in remarkably good shape, and with a wire brushing and a ZeroRust prime coat should be as good as new. The inner fender, well that will require just a touch more work.

Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi, the three investors which funded the company, were honored by naming the car "DAT"
  3. I think they were 1.25 pitch. Most hardware stores will have a 17 mm hex size, unlike the 14 mm on the Nissan stock. I'll bet they're sill avialible at Nissan. Do'nt gots my part cat CD here at work
  4. That wrapped around and covered the wiring harness, as it past from the fuse box area, under the dash support then disappeared again under the dash.

Well the tray is out, but now the extent of the damage is very evident. Before I started, I could see only a small perforation. After banging and drilling to get the tray out it was obvious that the whole area was held together by rust! where once was a little hole, there now is a fist sized (my ham fist) hole. Found some right gauged steel, so I'm going to sart beating out a peice to fit.
  6. Ben's got his his JDM street cred hapenen now! It was worth the wait and effort, good for you! Will we see it at MSA THIS year??? uh? Will we? Well?

In my most humble opinion, The stock equipment, NGK BP6ES for L24's and L26's and B6ES for L28's and good ol Blue NGK wires ARE high performance equipment. Everything else is more fluff.

in the roadster and 510 worlds, the method used the make the front marker lights blink is to route the ground through the turn signal hot. Thereby, when the turn signal turns on, it interups the ground path for the marker and it turns off. This included replacing the SS marker housing screws with plastic screws to isolate from ground. Ahh! i found the artical! http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/articles/tech_lite.html

I'm about to do this myself. Bought a very fancy spot weld cutter from Snap-on tools. Gotta borrow somebody's right-angle-drive drill to get at some of them. I was thinking of epoxying the tray back in after the rust treatment and repair, But Gary's idea of SS bolts has got me thinking... Or maybe a combination of the two?

  11. My car is no longer running. It's now just a big pile of pieces. Why? Cause the dreaded WIAT syndrome has struck hard. I reported last week that my brake booster went south, and started working on that. WIAT hits Last year I bought spray cans of color matched paint for the engine compartment, So If I'm going to take the booster off, "While I'm At It", I might as well disassemble the rest of the engine compartment for painting. "While I'm At It" - It's time to address the battery area rust "While I'm At It" - Might as well replace these brake lines' "While I'm At It" - this engine room harness needs some cleaning up Now my once beautiful car is spread out like a fish fillet. Careful you all, WIAT could strike you next!

Another lovely car denighed to the US Market (But note the photo is a LHD car!) Text and photo from Alan bent's "Planet Cedric" NISSAN CEDRIC 130 Series (MARK 2) 1967-1968 In 1967 there were some minor changes to the front and rear of the 130, but the rest of the car remained unchanged. The new grille has one very wide horizontal bar with 8 thinner horizontal bars above it and 4 thinner bars below. The tail lights are very different to the Mark 1, they are now about 300mm long and 80mm tall, with a rectangular reversing light and a round reflector underneath. The tail lights, reflectors, reversing lights, emblems and number plate holder are all enclosed in a rectangular 'box' that is the with of the car and about 150mm tall. The bumpers now have rubber blocks on the over riders. The glove box emblem now says 'Datsun' instead of 'Cedric'. There was also a change in the designation of the different models, the Standard 6 cyl. is now called the 'Personal Six' and the 4 cyl. car is now called the 'Standard". Also in 1967, in most export countries the Cedric name was dropped and also the cars were now sold as a Datsun rather than a Nissan, in most countries the car was now sold as the Datsun 2000. In Japan it continued to be sold as the Nissan Cedric. The different models available in 1967 are -130 - Standard - 1982cc 4 cyl engine. Has painted door window frames, smaller hubcaps that only partially cover the whole wheel, only one sunvisor and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Cedric'. P130 - Deluxe Six - 1973cc 6 cyl engine. Has stainless steel door window frames, hubcaps that cover the whole wheel, stainless steel roof drip channel mouldings and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Deluxe Six' or 'Cedric Deluxe Six'. P130D - Custom Six - 1973cc 6 cyl engine. Has stainless steel door window frames, hubcaps that cover the whole wheel, stainless steel roof drip channel mouldings and cloth upholstery. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Custom Six' or 'Cedric Custom Six'. P130S - Personal Six - 1973cc 6 cyl engine. Has painted door window frames, smaller hubcaps that only partially cover the whole wheel and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Personal Six' or 'Cedric Personal Six'. WP130 - Wagon Six - 1973cc 6 cyl engine. Has stainless steel door window frames, hubcaps that cover the whole wheel, stainless steel roof drip channel mouldings and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Wagon Six' or 'Cedric Wagon Six'. VP130 - Cedric Van - 1973cc 6 cyl engine. Has painted door window frames, smaller hubcaps that only partially cover the whole wheel, only one sunvisor and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Cedric Six'. Q130 - Cedric Diesel - Is the same as the Standard but has the SD22 4cyl. 2164cc 70hp Diesel engine with a 3 speed gearbox. H130 - Special Six - 1998cc 123hp OHC 6cyl twin carb engine. Has stainless steel door window frames, hubcaps that cover the whole wheel, stainless steel roof drip channel mouldings, bucket seats and vinyl upholstery. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Special Six' or 'Cedric Special Six'. H130 - Super Six - The Super Six appears to be identical to the Special Six in every way, I can't see any difference between them. It is possible that the Special Six was sold as the Super Six in some countries. Side emblems say 'Datsun 2000 Super Six' or 'Cedric Super Six'.

The "R" diffs are a Fuji Heavy Indus. product. Nissan bought components from many sources.

Ya know, I've read Carl's history pages, and although I agree with the importance of PMC's contribution to design and production, but, in my opinion, Carl discredits the capabilities and accomplishments of the pre-merger Nissan. The graphic he created brings this point home, where he illustrates all the pre merger efforts going into a "Nissan Trash Can" Yes, I too love the Z, but I'm not about to call everthing else trash.
  20. I'll swig by, in my pickup truck. The Z's brake booster took a dive yesterday!
  21. Nice turn out! But you guys REALLY need more S30's in your group!
  22. You assuies bombard our television with "Come to Australia - Leave your Money with us!" addys nightly. I'm sure it's a nice place, and a wonderfull place to visit. According to Quantas Air, it's friggin heaven on earth! Of course, since I live in an area with a tourist based economy, I understand. Our motto here is " Come to L.A. Spend your money, then go home! Even I, Homebody supreme, would like to go, mainly to the Tropical climes of upper Qld. Get a Pizza baked by Datsun Nut Alan Bent on the Gold Coast. When I see photos from that area, it reminds me of my former home in tropical south Florida.
  23. I've been using Les's formulation for years (I've painted MANY datsun engines!) It applies fantasticly, I've never had a fish eye yet. It dries fast and lasts great. GET IT, BE HAPPY AND BE DONE with that part of your restore/refresh! I've even used it on an engine, while installed with accessories. get cheap foam brushes at the hardware store. Spray Les's paint onto them and apply to the cleaned engine.

They were NGk's. I've seen many sets on roadsters. Can you really see the spark? That, I've never heard, and think your pulling our collective leg.
