  1. Hit a good sized pot hole, at just the right (or wrong) speed, and heard some nasty bump and grind. On my way home, I had a new bumping when the right rear got un-weighed. Once home, flashlight in-hand, I discovered what happened - ripped the rear sway bar end link out of the rear control arm. I would have thought that the Urethane bushes would fail before the steel of the control arm.... but no, the bushes are fine, as a matter of fact, they have a ring of nee control-arm-steel still sandwiched between themROFL Oh well, that's what spare parts are for..
  2. Err, Keith, That's tanny's son.... Mr. Vic Tanny is still not off the hook.

Steve, the Nissan EI is pretty darn good.
  4. at last - a proper use for a triumph GT6!

Hey, At least youv'e got a parts hauler! Do you think a L-28 will fit in the blue basket?
  7. Even my early 72 (71 according to Zhome.com) had the power for the electric pump ready, wrapped in the Nissan blue tape. Blue taped connectors were optional or connectors that were not used in certain models. Mike I'm willing to bet good money that if you look at your harness, at the fuel sender, you'll find teminals wrapped in blue tape, for the fuel pump. I have this harness at home and I'll take a photo when I get there.
  8. Marty, Those were the results of my first quest for these connectors- Here's the update. Mouser.com Does not have the spade style, Fastin-Faston connectors used by Nissan in either the 6.35 [.250] or 2.79 [.110] series (spade terminal width) http://store.yahoo.com/eagleday/ - Has .250 connectors very much like the AMP models used by Nissan, But only the 3 possition plug and socket fit (I bought one of each). The rest had differences in the pollarity assurances, so they won't work. http://www.datsunparts.com <fairlady products> has most of the .250 size but not the .110 size. The roadster used bullet connectors instead. Tyco/AMP still manufactures all these connectors, exactly as used by Nissan 1965 on. Visiting the Tyco/amp pages, I was able to bring up the specs for every connector in our harnesses and all were listed as "Active". But finding a distributor that will bother to sell you 100 connectors and 600 terminal pieces is a different story. Inetesting, many of the blueprints on the Tyco/AMP site, for connectors used on our cars were labled "Yokohama, Japan". Obviously Nisssan didn't have to go very far to buy their connectors!
  9. I've been looking for a good source for the AMP Faston-Fastoff plastic connector blocks as used in the original harnesses. If your research uncovers any info, I'd appreciate if you'd pass it on. If originality wasn't an issue, I would prefer to use the GM Weather-Pac connectors and terminals. They are a MUCH better connector
  10. Whoa! IT's true! People DO resemble their pets!
  11. When did THAT happen, Vic? Is it back to straight now? We all have seen the pretty silver car in your gallery. Sure hope those are "After" photos!
  12. Come on you chickens! Even I posted my mug, and I avoid mirrors! Lachlan, are really trying to tell us you don't have a digital camera, after ALL the photos youv'e posted to the site? Keith, time to bite the bullet and be a shining example of a super moderator - post your dam photoROFL Zmecruise, If my mug didn't unravel the WWW, yours won't. Rick started a pretty cool thread. I'm enjoying this.
  13. Right on! Actually, fine sipping tequilas has been my latest quest. A new "learn at home" course for an educated palate. I knew nothing about them six months ago. A fine pursuit, 20 ml at a time. I find a modicum of fermented, distilled agave to have beneficial medicinal effect on the humours. A wee dram across the tongue to savor life's sweetness. Hic!
  14. looks right to me. But rethink buying used. When the clutch fails, the fan takes out the radiator:( Oh your link didn't work for me, how about this one? 240Z Fan
  15. Not really a picture of me.... Just what I like to do..
  16. For a while, I dreamt of making a mock-up C110 Skyline out of a 72 or 73 610 (180B). But reality struck home when I learned more and found that they are not all that similar cars. I still think the first couple years of 610's were cool, but there's not too much chance fitting an L-24 in place of the L-18! We gringos remain deprived of LHD Skylines
  17. You want input? Try the Arkansas Z Car Club They might have an Idea or two for you.
  18. I've done some dumb sh*% in my day, but... Good thing nobodies Z was parked at the curb! It's unfortunate that he will probably live to breed.
  19. Ok. Is this: A) curly from the 3 stooges? the psycho killer from the movie "Identity"? C) A Z hobbyist from Los Angeles?
  20. Darren, It's VERY likely that your thermostat IS stuck open or missing. It should only take 5 minutes to come up to temp. Ok, that being that, you still want to know why your car runs crappy while cold - I don't know. Mine does too. I always left that question to the "Nature of the Beast" category, as All my Z's have operated that way. I run with the choke on for the first mile or so, to keep from stumbling in the middle of the intersections.
  21. I'm driving to El Cajon (just east of San Diego) in the wee hours, thursday. Hopefully (but doubtfully) I'll beat the traffic!
  22. Daniel's method has been mine too for the quite some time. through roadsters 510's z's, well, let's just say a "S" load of SU's. Now, just about every phillip's head screw I remove gets a couple taps for good luck. Of course, this is from a guy that a ball pean and a torch are his favorite tools.
  23. Ajax, Have you seen the cover of the latest MSA sale flier? It almost looks as good as your car did.
  24. ok, the photo for the 11/72 is too dark to see. On my 72, with the bolt on mounting points, is about 3'' further aft than the location on your 280. Notice the location of the bracket in respect to the seat-belt-retractor pocket. Does this look like the same location for the 73?
