  2. "These 6's don't compare to the gutsy Nissan L series." No, But the 225 slant HAS to be one of the toughest engines EVER made. The 318 will be good, a 340 would be better!!
  3. Good Call Will! Mine IS a Matco. Very Beefy!
  4. offset is how far the hub mounting surface is from the wheel center line. Google "What is Offset" I'd look for wheels up to 7'' wide with offset from -5 to +15
  5. Even Better http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33590&item=7929235497&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW HP inserts AND springs!
  6. Hey, there ya go patrick. That's the ticket save a bit on the inserts and you can buget for the proper springs too. I'm willing to bet you'll really like the result.
  7. The latest MSA catalog (now 2 years old) list them at 79.95 each Luminas at 149.95 each and KYB's at 99.95 apiece Some here run Koni's. I don't have a price for them, but they are usally higher than the last two brands
  8. I think that's your best bet. I've run the Tokiko HP's for the three years and they are as they were the first day. I'm not a gentle driver by any means, so they pass my endurance test. I blew out a front KYB Gas-A-Just on my roadster in two weeks (now wearing carreras - WAY too stiff!)
  9. Just a bump to remind anyone who'd like to go, tomorrow (the 20th) is the last day to RSVP Sebastian to attend. I'm thinking. If can get another driver, I'd bring the Z and the roadster. Where's the Cloning the scifi books of my childhood promised me? No, Wait, two Victors? that's more Horror than SciFi.
  10. Aha! So the overall length (strut tube, spring, upper perch) is most likely the same. The strut tube is longer, the lower perch is lower (?) on the tube and the upper has a bigger bolt circle. That makes sense. they didn't change the geometry of the chassis, just tweaked the strut a bit. I got it right?
  11. If you've rounded the gland nut on the hard line, it's best to replace the line. I use alot of cheap tools, but I bought the most expensive 10mm flare wrench! I often use a propane torch on the gland nuts if they give me any trouble on first attempt. Penetrant + heat + high quality flare wrench = less damaged brake lines
  12. Very sound advice from Ed. Bare with your Flattops only as long as it takes to have the early 3 or 4 screw set reworked. It's too bad Ztherapy won't take the flats as cores, I guess they are not in the aluminum recycling buisness!
  13. So, the strut assm's are taller on the later S30's? How can that be? I was to believe that the S30's and R30's are basicaly the same body. Are the attachment points on a 77 280/260 higher than on my 72 240? I would seem to me that if all the attachment points (strut tower, Lower control arm) are the same, the overall heigth of the strut assembly (spindle to top spring retainer) would be the same as well. Did I miss something? I should buy a beat-up 77, just to disect as an educational exercise.
  14. That minimum sounds correct. If it had filters and horns, you could add at least $100 to that.
  15. Here in SoCal, we have a Datsun Mechanic, a bit of a stoner, but a well respected wrench. His proudest day was when he got his perfect, bone stock, grandma-driven-bingo-only, HoneyBee. I remember, three (?) years ago at the Deer Park Show, he came RUNNING up to me, "Vic! Ya gotta check out my HoneyBee!" Some will cry when Monster Garage cuts up that little 210.
  16. Pre "Civic" in 71 and 72, the Civic title wasn't born yet.
  17. Tom, these have been a great bunch of photos you've given us. Thanks so much!
  18. I miss our former October Show, I'm sure going to this and hopefully it will develop into an annual event! Be sure to tell Sebastian if your coming. Hope to see some CZCC members there!
