  1. To get this box (FS5C71A) to fit you need; (Prices Quoted from http://www.courtesyparts.com/) Clutch Housing* Code: 30401-22010 Price: $362.91 Tail Housing (1 required) Code: 32130-A7100 Price: $150.00 Main Shaft Code: 32241-A0200 Price: $100.00 Diveshaft (to 8/71) Code: 37000-E4100 Price: $170.00 Striking Rod Assembly* Code: 32890-A0100 Price: $30.58 So for $700 you install a 5 speed that you can no longer get parts for! too bad as they are good boxes. You could keep an eye out for an Fairlady in the states getting parted out. I love the one in my 70 roadster.
  2. Is your glove box in good shape? I had no trouble swaping my clock through the box, but mine is torn beyond hope already. Releasing the hvac cables is kinida tough as it's upside-down-on-your-back-in-the footwells work. It gets more complicated if you have a AC installed. But, still doable either way
  3. You may need a new gauge. wont know untill you remove it. This is the middle fuel/Alt gauge? best bet is to remove the consle, remove the heater panel and release the gauge. There sould be enough slack in the alt connections to see if you can re-set the plastic bezel. What state/city are you in? We might be able to recommend a shop or offer assistance.
  4. A new set of headers and the EGR will be gone.

    Sex or Z?

The Z fits right in with my Betty Page Kink
  6. Eric, Lachlan is dreaming about your car again! I'm driving my dream Z. But I do fancy restoring one complety and correctly from the bare shell to the last, plated bolt. Untill then I live my Z and Roadster Dream. My ideal 510 is still out there, I can feel it.
  7. This Victor agrees with the other Victor. There's got to be a point where you stop planning on the job and just do the job. I'm getting ready for a clutch replacement. I've gathered up all the pieces and some "While I'm at it" pieces. I was planning on have on of my extra 4 speeds rebuilt and swap it out, "While I was at it". But, Dam, I just gotta do the job, and get it over with!
  8. Cuong! We anit back-woods dummies! We're Nissan fans! I got to ride in one, once. how lucky is that! Seriously, that's a beauty. even without seen the photos, I'm envious. With the Rice-Boy culture out here, the Sklyline, especially that model, is of legendary status. Deservedly so, in this case. Lucky you! Obviously a Nguyen-Win situation!
  9. That is severe, but we've seen worse!
  10. Allen, It's going to be worth it to chase down your suspension woes. It may look daunting now, since you just got the car and facing a list of issues. But, if you care for those issues, the list will get smaller. There's got to be a Z club in the Dallas/FW area that can suggest a reputable Z shop. Your ride will never be right if - Your tires are worn unevenly, Incorrect tire pressures, wheel bearings aren't set properly, struts in poor shape The answer for me was to replace the entire front end. It was that hard or expensive.

Ok, More story on her. She is a Z fanatic. How Much, you ask? She has a "Z" tattooed on her right hip! Her 77 280 Won at MSA in stock catagory and she SCREEMED all the way to the podium. A True Z nut.
  12. Wazzamatta Gav? SuperGlue is not good enough for you? Mine is glued and I used heavy AL tape on the back for reinforcement. I didn't even know the light had this face plate untill I found one in a JY. Whattayaknow!
  13. IF <The Big IF> the claim of no rust is true, I'd say it's worth every penny of the 11.5K
  14. When you find one, don't throw your old one away! A good motor shop can rebuild it. They are getting too rare to waste.
  15. No - Ignore the cone you're dragging ... focus on the cones youv'e yet to hit.
  16. I predict another long Thread. Be it Beer or Boobs, you can't denigh, Aussies and Yanks are brothers separated by the Equator. So pour me a Pilsner Urquel or a Sierra Madre Pale, Have a cigar, one of my best, and send out the dancing girls.
  17. I'm looking forward to the time when Ernie is well enough to go looking for his new Z! Get Well soon. Your Z club bro's and Sis's will keep an eye out for pretty Texas Z car for you.
  18. True, True and thank you. Most goods are marketed on a percieved value that differs greatly from the actual value. How much is a diamond worth really? Not a whole hell of a lot, but the market is flooded with propaganda to bolster the percived value through the roof. The Actual value of your restored 240Z? Ok, lets do the math. First, We got to find a good to great condition shell. We shop around and find a 72 in great condition - $7,000. Ok, We've got a good looking, good running car, but, that's not what we bought it for. We want a restored car. This one is loaded with compromises and P.O. jerry-rigs. We strip it down for real all-metal repair and Replated gear, Lots and Lots of NOS parts. If it's scuffed, replace it, running gear rebuilt. the best paint duplicating the Yokohama colol - Congrats, We just spent 30K more! Then, for some sick reason we decide to sell this labor of love. (Harry, I'm still wondering if you feel alright :-), And we price it at... 17 ~ 23. Something is seriously wrong here!
  19. Not necessarly. If the blue plates were lost or damaged or kept bt the P.O., The whites would take their place. I'd offer to inspect it for you, but it's too far from L.A. for my comfort. Owning ONLY yellow Datsuns myself, I love the color!
  20. keep an eye on collectorcartraderonline.com . I did a quick search and came up with these two. San Diego - 1971 Huntington Beach - 72 If you find one up in LA, I'll scout it for you.
  21. Gee! Thanks! I must admit, I've grown pretty fond of her. When I first got her I cou

I remember seeing your car! She cleans up well.
  23. George! Do you HAVE to use the words "skydive", "hit" and "Brick wall" in the same sentence? What's Aussie slang for a flattened bloke?
