  1. Mike, I still have your harness. I promise to send it out this week. I have a rear harness as well. I'll add that to the care package.
  2. gen z wrote Nothing, If some bash the ZX, They do it for own reasons. I have an affinity for car enthusiasts. We speak the same language. When someone loves their Z car, It's a classic Z to me. At work, I have a co-worker with an 83 turbo. I enjoy helping him with a few mechanical problems and seeing his enthusiasm for making it just right. while driving, I get the "thumbs up" from HS130 ZX's and they get it back from me. The main preference for the early Z is that it was a true sports car - no frills, no power anything, light, elegantly simple, GT coupe. by 73, US safety requirements added more weight for bumpers and to meet the increasingly stringent air laws, power robbing carburetors were added. This got worse with the 260Z (US models, The Euro were great). The 280Z got more gadgets and even more weight. The first ZX's were more a luxury tourer than a sports car. By adding your Turbo, they made it a go machine again. If you love your Z or ZX, show the love and you'll get it back from the other Z car nut cases out there. By the way... If you spell check "ZX", Microsoft gives a nice suggestion:classic:
  3. Mark, I have the Tokico non-adjustable HP's. Mixed with the MSA Springs, and bushes they are quite stiff, but streetable. I chose them because they were considerably less than the Luminias or the Konis. I'm very happy with the way the car handles. urethane bushes, MSA springs, Front and rear MSA sway bars and the Tokico struts keep the car pretty flat through the curves. Most of the AutoXers seem to use the Luminias though.
  4. And you will feel the same, one this problem is tracked down. As Rob suggested, you need a better shop. But California is a big place. Narrow your location down to a city for us. This is the audenience that understands:love:
  5. And here's the U.S. Mirror mounted on the right.
  6. Senor Ozlime, That is exactly the match for the U.S. Mirror. MSA Has the left side match for you. Part #30-8140, $85.31 USD. Taking your lead, I went out and shot these photos of my mirrors. By the way, That car of your's has a great color
  7. Just say NO! to selling your lovely yellow Z!!! Next summer you'll be crying in your soup over your long lost love! Don't let this happen to you or let it happen to a friend!
  8. 70 ~ 73 came with 1 divers side, door mounted mirror. As described, Chrome base, Stainless back, flattened oval. These were only sold as left (drivers) mirrors. I installed one as a right side mirror as well and it works (sort of). I needed to use a 3'' convex "stick on" mirror on the passenger side mirror for it to be any use. Here's a photo of my car with both mirrors visable. http://images.fotki.com/v2/photos/4/42214/120643/PB200060-or.jpg
  9. James, The wheels that are in the first photo of your site, On the stripped car. Those polish up so nice. A Roadster won last years Solvang Show with those.

  11. Since some of you are suffering winter's wrath, here's my favorite thing to do when cold winds blow. Victor's mulled apple brew. Or Three days of bliss and a month of spread Before going to bed on a cold winter's night In your largest cook pot, 2 gallons of apple juice. add several apples and pears, quartered, peel and all. 5 ~ 6 cinnamon sticks. 5 ~ 8 cloves 1cup of rum On the stove at the lowest possible flame. uncovered In the morning you wake up to a fantastic smell, it may even effected your dreams. ladle into cups - Yum! Keep it on the flame. afternoon - yum! Before bedtime, ladle it into cups and add a little rum to the cups, night, night! Next morning - ditto oo o o oo oo oohhhh Getting a little low? Add another gallon of juice. You didn't drink all of it, after all. Quite a bit has flavored the entire house. In three days, I've usually had enough. NOW, here comes the fun part. Get some very clean jelly jars. And turn the flame on high. Stir - stir - stir, the witche's brew thickens, The fruit has dissolved, only the cinnamon sticks remain. Stir till it's very thick and bubbling. CAREFUL! It's hot . ladle the thick Apple butter (That's right) into the jelly jars. After cooling, wrap a couple of jars up in a festive manner and give them to your neighbors (ONLY IF YOU REALLY LIKE THEM!). Be sure to have at least 2 jars in your on fridge. It's not uncommon for your sneaky neighbors to dress one of their children up in there Sunday best and send them over to your house with the empty jar to ask "Please Sir, Could we have some more"
  12. Fix the bad countershaft bearing. Sorry. I do have an aftermarket "8-Ball" shift knob that absorbs the noise. Our stock knobs start singing as soon as the tranny wears a bit thin.
  13. I think you may have started something!
  14. Point well made, Ed. I'm thinking of using an "L" shaped metal bracket from the center grill support to the top of the spoiler. I'll take photos.
  15. Tom, I don't care for bumper overridders (the vertical pieces). I've taken them off of ever Z and Roadster I've had. They were a "band aid" patch to meet US safety requirements. I can't see how our flimsy bumpers could have anything to do with safety to begin with! I'm not happy with this bumper either. I'm looking for a Euro bumper, or, I might get one of my spares rechromed and all the holes filled. Your secondary horizontal bar is a vintage dealer and aftermarket add on by AMCO, who made accessories for Datsuns.
  16. I don't Know! I was planning on buying the same style in fiberglass, from MSA. But, My local Z shop, Sunset Z, Had this used, but in good shape, urethane one for $50.00. Since I would have to paint either one, I decided to save some money. Worked out fine.
  17. Thanks Rick! I washed it just to take this photo! Really the car has come so very far since I bought it, 7 months ago. It really helps having just parted out my first 72 in having a spare everything! I was able to select the best condition part. So, the hood was replaced, as the original had a bent tip, The grill (the IPO painted it green!), The turn lenses as the old ones were very fogged and the inner reflectors were rusted, and the bumper as this one is much better than the bent one that came on the car. That's just the Front! you should have seen the rear!!! :surprised :stupid: But, I've got the serious case of "Z Love" now. I get so freaken happy as I walk up to her in the parking lot and after every drive, I pat the dash and say "Good Girl!" Anywhere else those statments would be received as strange. But here, I know you all can relate!
  18. A couple of weeks ago, I asked you all for air dam advice. Thanks so much. Here's the result. Yea!
  19. From what you described, It's long past out!
  20. I can't for the life of me see how these kids could possibly have the money they sink into these cars! In my town, Late model Acuras with at least $20K of bolt-ons are driven by 16~20 year olds! How can this be? At that age (in 1977), I had a job, a 68 Dodge Polara that I bought from my Father for $50.00 and could just - JUST - afford gas and insurance. Where did I go Wrong?
  21. Eric, Just like Steve, I have the "Match book" Nissan EI Distributor, With the Balast circut bypassed and a 12 Volt coil in my 72. The fellow that rebuilt and recurved the distributor for me (Gary Boone) warned that I MIGHT have a problem with the tach. But After installation, No problem. Then, when I scapped my first 72, I swapped the whole set up into the new Lime Green 72 and still had no problem.
  22. I must admit, when I first did this job I considered using this method - for about 10 seconds! Then I changed my mind and figured It was much better to release the cables. I've got three or so heater/radio panels downstairs, hanging from the ceiling by the cables like spiders.
  23. Enrique, That's what I'm talking about. Not taking the panel apart! I guess I wasn't clear? The 90 degree screwdiver is for the heat control lever. Since the blower housing in so close, It's the only thing I found to get at the screw. The other three are pretty easy.
  24. You'll have the best opportunity to lube the heater cables and control sliders! Use some Teflon spray cable lube (SuperLube?) from a bike store and some white lithium grease for the slider mechanism. And when your finished - SMOOTH OPERATOR! The 90 degree screwdriver is a $3.00 affair from pepboys or Kragans or where ever! the best ones are the ratcheting ones from Craftsman. Be sure to use some penetrant juice on those screws before you try to tackle them. Don't want to strip out the Phillips slots! Hopefully they didn't cut up the radio faceplate for the old radio install! Most times they did, and it just about ruins any plans to go back to stock. This wasn't a concern for me, replacing a Radio-Shackup cheapy with the fancy-smanzy JVC!
