...and a bit later. A few oil cooler related shots. The parts book page is from the racing tune-up section of the 1966 Prince Skyline GT-B parts catalogue. A good indication of the older cartridge type filter used on the G7 2litre OHC six. This particular one is for use with oil cooler equipped cars but is very similar to the standard (no cooler)equipped cars. Sorry I don't have any pics handy of the Prince oil cooler. The other pics are of the only oil cooler,(shiney thing behind the grille) I have seen fitted to a factory production KPGC10 looks just like the one for the 432R? Alan, do you know if this was a production option for all the S20 powered cars? Or is this an owner add-on? The rest of the car (KPGC10-000013) looks like a museum piece, stock steel rims running Bridgestone Skyway 6.45H-14 crossply tyres! Looks like the benefits of lower engine oil temperatures, along with the bonus of greater oil capacity was not lost on the Prince or Nissan engineers. Jim. :classic:

AAARRGGHH!! not built for a turbo :(
He has installed an RB 20det into a 1966 Prince Skyline GT(called Marvin ) He resides in South OZ. Here is his CarDomain site http://www.cardomain.com/ride/547037 I know Pete (a fitter and machinist by trade) spent a lot of time working this out and then implementing his ideas. All his own work as far as I know. Nice bloke, and he should be at Bathurst Kent! I've got his contact details at home if you need them. Jim.

Hey John! How are ya mate?! I gotta point out there is a BIG difference between Alans' phrase "being laid into" (copping a hiding/ gettin'a beltin', American idiom equivalent; Whalin' on 'im:laugh: ) and being "laid" or getting Ben Dover:laugh: .... have I just earnt the title Captian Obvious:nervous: ? Sometimes it's bloody hard to get the jest/ innocence or well meaning intent of a post across in type. You just have to hope the interpretation is read as the intent:geek: ...Well, here's me bus! I'll be off now. Hoo Roo!!

Driving gloves
Gotta say I've used the nomex gloves, and kid leather, and believe it or not...kangaroo leather:D A fine leather glove whilst driving/ competing is like a good tool, you get on with the job and don't even notice them......until you have to do without them! As corny as it looks:rolleyes: I have a pair of very old stringback gloves in the Skyline, just like the ones in a few of the sales brochures. With a leather bound steering wheel they go like......well, hand in glove!!

Sure was Steve, ~1962 BBC made it, not sure when it first aired in Australia. It had a real cringe factor to it....always wondering what "Father" (Albert Steptoe, the original "dirt...ty old man" was going to inflict on poor young 'Arold. Here's a decent site about it, but there are lots more.http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/s/steptoeandson_7776035.shtml Sorry, bugger-all about 240 Z oil coolers I'm afraid:laugh: Cheers, Jim.

Seeing Alans scan, and Steves pic, and realising.... I HAD THESE PARTS:cry: . I bought a Prince in pieces, it came with many boxes of parts, some I discovered had nothing to do with a Skyline GT, in particular a plasic bag, with "DATSUN" written in permanent marker on the outside, inside, a used oil cooler with those brackets and lines loosely attached along with some cast pieces I suspect were for the filter. I gave the lot away to an aquaintance who played with Datsuns.....well I was a one eyed Prince nut, and "odd Datsun bits?..huh, ptooie" ..damn, I really had no idea. Woulda looked cool under the bonnet of the C10. All part of my dim , dark past now, I'm afraid. I was just thinking, it's things like this that cause my "Steptoe Gene" to kick in. Steptoe Gene; causing sufferer to horde every little bit of "hmmmaybe useful stuff....you know, just in case it'll come in handy one day":rolleyes:The resultant mess reminiscant of "Steptoes place" (Remember "Steptoe and Son" Alan?? ) "Sanford & Son" with Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson was the U.S. equivalent. Which just happened to air in 1972, hey isn't that the year model of 240Z NY Z was enquiring about?? gotta keep the thread on topic ya know:laugh: Cheers, Jim.

what grill is this from?
Hmm...I think what you theorise may be so. The first reference to a C111 in the Skyline range is from March of 1976, a BC111T, a 2515mm wheelbase 1600cc 4 cylinder sedan. Note no "E" on the end so I'm guessing no injection. The first 6 cylinder is the ..big breath now... KGC111JTFE, running an L20E donk. This is the first appearance of the "Belt Buckle" grille also. Released June of 1976. Next model release would appear to be the 210 range in August of 1977. If you look at the Yahoo pics you can see where the horizontal bar would fit into the mouldings for the inner headlights. Geeez, talk about hijackin' a thread:stupid:

Yair, that's the one I was thinking of Alfa, I thought they called that model the C111, domestic only? Hey, Kent, there is a 240K coupe in the Riversone wreckers with one of those grills.....If you can ever catch the owner with the place open! The rest of the car appears to be an Australian delivered 240K though.

what grill is this from?
Possibly a C111 grille with the chrome guts removed?

Oldest car to wear GT-R badge
Good post MoonPup! I briefly owned a Bridgestone 350 GTR ~1974-5? Awesome bike for the time, and yeah..showed the RD 350's the way:devious: Previous ride was a Bridgestone ....90cc! and I thought that was quickLOL . The 350 made way for a panel van/sin bin/ shaggin' wagon. Ya just had to have one back then:love: :devious: As a (younger) kid I got to ride in a 2door Bellett belonging to a friend of Dads'. It had a half cage fitted as he club raced it, I can remember thinking"WoW! I'm in a racing car"LOL Jim.

240K Coupe Spare Parts
Hey Rich! Not a dumb question at all. The short version is ...A Datsun 240K is a Nissan Skyline for a different market/region. Some compliance and cosmetic differences for sure, but still really a Skyline. Best bet for "what" they are, do a search of the 240K Forum and have a dig through the pics and posts. If you're still not satisfied, give me, or just about any of the regular posters here a yell.....we'd be glad to help you out! :classic: Cheers, Jim.

240K Coupe Spare Parts
Hi ya Bruce, They may fit a Sigma, but I think they are a Nissan/Datsun Australia option wheel. My '75 240K has them, including the spare, all with spacers. i did have a brochure from ~ 1979 showing optional bits available from your friendly Australian Datsun dealer, these wheels being amongst them...even had a bit of a speil about them being made in South Aust. It came, and went with a 200B SX we sold years ago. I wondered when I saw your pics if the centre caps were still around? I only have one, and have never seen another. I have seen centre caps on these wheels since, but none the same as mine:disappoin ....anyway here's some pics of the missing items. Keep up the good work in gathering & saving the old bits, GoodOnYa!! :classic:
