Just recieved my new muffler, and its a big kahuna!
That sounds great Tom. Can you tell us the process of getting the sound from recording it to a format the PC's are happy with, be it .wav, .mp3 whatever?? I would love to share the sound of the C10. It appears to be a complete Fujitsubo system. BIG stainless extractors into a full length twin system. The pics I've included seem to be the correct bits? We could end up with a library of sound! All the various systems on this forum. From those still equipped with all the original Datsun/Nissan bits, Japanese air in the intake etc :cheeky:.... The spine tingling S20 howl, to the unique personalised setups like Sonofzzzap and your'n. Mmmm..Vroom Vroom  Jim.

Police Version
G'day everyone Ever seen evidence of a KPGC10 or KGC10,(old Skyline two doors) in a Police Car? These kits are the closest I've come to anything in an old Skyline... Cheers, Jim.

A Thirst for Oil
Just remember, that figure is with a filter change as well. Always put some fresh oil in the new filter, and smear a few drops on the rubber gasket before spinning it on. Without a filter change, it's 5.0 litres. Jim.

A Thirst for Oil
I realise this might be a silly question, but when you did the oil change, did you put in 5.7litres? I have seen some guys just add the oil 'till it first shows correct level on the dipstick, without regard to how much oil they are actually putting in the engine, consequently the sump gets short changed! Then there's the other extreme. Ever seen an engine filled...I mean filled with oil? Right to the brim of the oil breather in the tappet cover I shouldn't laugh...at least he was having a bash at doing it himself. That is a lot of oil to simply go missing. How did you decide it was 3-4 litres? Is this what you had to add to bring the level of oil to the correct point on the dipstick? Speaking of dipsticks, I don't know about Nissan sixes but with various other vehicles the oil level markings vary with the sump (ie, same engine in different body shapes need a different sump so the correct oil level at the dipstick entry point varies, the height of the markings reflect this). Any chance the dipstick could be the wrong one? It does happen. Thats why I ensure I find the correct capacity from the owners handbook, manual etc. and add that amount, fire it up for a short while, stop, let it sit a few minutes and then check the dipstick. If it's the correct dipstick it's always spot on! If not...make a new mark! As Gav said, it may be sitting in the bellhousing, but if 3-4 litres is correct that's a sh*tload of oil to be sitting in there!! If the motor was simply pumping it out the exhaust, there would be plenty of evidence. After your trip the rear of the car would definitly have a dust covered oil film. What oil did you use? Any chance it was a cockup with labelling? Dunno Tom, but ya got me intrigued now.... Jim.

Old Nissan Cedric
Many years ago, so far back in fact I cannot honestly say where I heard this ...but here goes; The scene is Nissan Japan, early 1960's. The players are market researchers (or the equivalent) and a gathering of motoring journalists from Australia. Nissan was keen for some Australian market penetration and was canvassing the visiting journos with names that they hoped would be appealing to the Australian public at large. Now one must understand the perception of the name "Cedric" in Australia in the early '60's to appreciate what happens next. In some circles if a guy was a bit of a "Mummys boy" or overtly effeminate he might be referred to as "A bit of a Cedric".(try and say it with a lisp...you'll get the picture!) Gawd only knows how this name ended up on the list of names to run by the Journos but the story goes when it did, one of the journos, in a bit of a private Aussie joke , turned to one of his mates in the room and said (tongue in cheek!) " 'Ay , here's a good one...CEDRIC!! There's a few "Cedrics" in Australia isn't there mate ...hurhur hur!"...and thought no more of it, just a light moment in a day at the office. Well... the Japanese researchers, not being endowed with an Aussie sense of humour, or privvy to the alternative meaning, took this as a sign of a standout name that would be well accepted by the masses, after all, if they get excited enough to yell it out and draw attention to it .....well it must be a winner! The rest is marketing history! Like I said, this story was relayed to me as fact, but if it's not quite the truth...well it's still a good laugh :cheeky: Cheers chaps  Jim.

How Old?
48 years old in April....funny isn't it ..still nothing relaxes me as much as tinkering with a favourite car, or satisfies me as much as pulling something mechanical apart, cleaning it, figuring out how it does what it does, and setting it up properly again. Been this way since I was a young kid. Seems to settle the mental dust that day to day living kicks up in the mind. Jim.

300 miles without missing a beat!!
The difference is because a US Gallon is equal to 3.8 litres, where the imperial (what the rest of use) is equal to 4.54 litres. Why is this so?? (apologies to Prof. Julius Sumner-Miller...! Who here is old enough to remember him? ) When I bought my 240K auto last June, I paid my $700, drove it 1100+ klms home for an average of 29mpg...didn't miss a beat, still hasn't 12000K's later, with an average of 430 K's per tank, or about 24mpg around Sydney! These Nissan sixes really are a good motor. Even the C10, with the triple Mikunis, lumpy cam and short diff gears gave 23 mpg Melbourne - Sydney, around 900 K's I'm happy. Jim.

Datsun 140Z.... Yes 140Z
Around 1974 there was a JDM Datsun Sunny Coupe 1400 GX , badged "Excellent GX". 1.4 litres twin SU type carbies, 95bhp and 875 kilos . Aimed at those that could not afford a 240Z but still wanted the features. Very similar to these South African coupes. Jim.

OT: 1968 Honda S800 for sale!
Hey Coastie, I thought ragtop was any softop car....and a cabriolet was the centre section slidin' back?? leavin' the sides in place?? I must admit I'm just throwin' around terms I've heard over the years!! regardless... I've never seen a convertible that didn't look better as a hard top.. Frinstance...a ' 67 Corvette, a softop with its lid up or down wouldn't rate parked beside a coupe of the same vintage, to me anyway(btw I'm 47years old ) Jim.

87000-U0175 Datsun Competition seat
I have a Corbeau equipe rally seat in the shed . It was given to me by a mate who bought it in 1974 for his 240K. It is similar to your pics Ben, but has higher sides with cut outs for a harness. I actually grabbed it out of his fishing boat for a driving simulator I was building last year. It'll probably end up in the KGC10 now though.....I'll get it out for some pics if anybody is interested....

OT: 1968 Honda S800 for sale!
C'mon Mr Cammo!!! attention to detail!! The ad clearly states an S800 coupe! 600 cc was earlier. They had a diff driven by a prop shaft. Those extra 200cc's did make a different beast!! The prop shaft was driven off a duplex chain drive out of the gearbox. Gimme a coupe anyday... ragtops suck, big time!! Back in my tech days we had one of the 600s happily running to 11000 RPM ......all the power of a thousand startled butterflies

Nissan Datsun Nationals Easter 2005
OK guys, how many C110's are rock up to this one? I'm sure you've seen the original post in Regional Discussions. I think it's a great opportunity to further and foster interest in your chosen model. I know it's a long haul for most here, but think of it as an adventure . The C110 is thin enough on the ground these days, so to have a few show up would really turn some heads. So start thinking of reasons NOT to go now....and work on eliminating those lame excuses before the end of January so you've got plenty of time to plan to get along and meet up with the other shining examples of C110 ownership....waddayareckon??? Jim.

Toyota 2000GT interest
It was called the "Holden GTR-X" Rick, I've got a sales brochure and assorted pics around here somewhere...I'll see what I can find, here ya go I snaffled these of a google image search, much easier!! This thing was a fibreglass shelled car. I remember reading one of the reasons it was killed off was the release of the 240Z in Australia. They didn't believe it could compete price wise. Performance was no problem. A 3 litre triple Stromberg CD150 fed with a lumpy cam and real headers, and bugger all weight!....If only.. Jim.
