stopping after 2km
Hey Rob, If you are confident it's not the coil packing up, check the spring loaded carbon contact on the inside of your distributor cap that completes the cct to your rotor button, they do get shorter as they wear and may be sticking with temp. change? If you have the bits handy replace the coil to dizzy lead, then the dizzy cap, and if still no joy.. the rotor button. Let us know how you go. Jim. P.S. Assuming conventional Kettering points ignition here!

Screen Names - Where Do They Come From?
g72s20 for ease of typing. It is actually G7 to S20, the range of engines of interest to myself from Prince through to the Nissan S20. 1963 through to 1973. The G7 first appearing in the S41 Gloria, I prefer the S54b version with the three webers. G7; 2litre 6 Glorias' and Skyline gt's G11; 2.5 litre 6 S44 Gloria ( I had one of these too!) Gr8; 2litre twin cam for the r380 S20 ; what a beautiful noise! I must admit, the L series sounds awesome with the right wind section hanging off it  Jim.

1966 Toyota S800 on Ebay!!!
I'll second that! Kings Langley area, Sydney ~1987.....A neighbour had an electric blue one with a black top from memory. It was a daily driver parked in the street each night!! I remember thinking how tiny it was, and the resemblance to the 2000 GT. Then there was the 2000 GT that had been fitted with a Leyland V8, sometime during the early eighties. Sutherland shire ...again from memory. This car suffered an interior fire at a beachside carpark. I heard recently Someone had located the original motor and gearbox stashed at a panel beaters, and is planning to re unite the car with it's driveline. Usual thing though, all very secretive and hard to confirm :disappoin

Left hand drive KGC10? 2400GT?
I'm actually of the same opinion Ben, Lachlan. I guess this thread is a bit of a fishing expedition to try and catch a few facts . Just what I'm trying to flush out!A Tenuous connection...Okinawa mentioned in the Yahoo auction, and also in the ebay toymota 800 auction. I will have it substanciated one way or another! I'm hoping one of our well travelled Japanese connections on this forum can put me out of my misery  Just had a look in my old Prince Motor Company Parts cattledog for the S54 series Skyline. There is reference there to a LHD (LS54AE) 1966. thats the single carby export car. It may be the C10 as a 2400 GT LHD never made it to production, but got as far as a brochure? i have an example of this with the 1969-70 Holden Torana GTRX, have a read ! It even has a 240Z connection....true! Well haven't we covered some cars and connections in a few short paragraphs? Lots of room for myth and speculation about IF or WHY LHD versions of cars of interest to us were built....I won't be happy until they are scotched or proven..one way or another......., Cheers Guys, Jim.

Left hand drive KGC10? 2400GT?
Good Ol' V12 Horse found a Toyota 800 sports on ebay, I found the above in the description in the auction! That military base must have (had?) same sway in Japan to warrant cars being marketed directly at the servicemen. Anybody know anymore about this? Jim.

240K-GT grille for sale
Hi Guus, no mate, what I'm after is the real thing!! I need some of that mesh used in the Nissan grills to tidy up my KGC10 grill,... make it more like the GT-R. If you look at the attached pics you'll see what I mean. The gold grill with the big "belt buckle" stuck in the middle is what mine used to look like. (pics care of Yahoo auctions JP)

The two S20 warriors
I have a one and a half A4 page article here from an Australian motoring magazine ~1973, relevant to the Fairlady Z432-R. I can scan it but can't get it to a small enough size in bits(<100Kb) and still be legible. I have seen examples here I'm sure, so I'm guessing it's possible.... Can anyone direct me to some useful tips? Cheers , Jim. Or I can email the whole jolly thing to someone more competent than I ?

converting ignition to electronic
I can put you in contact with Ray Ferguson (Prince) builder of NA RB20 into his kpgc110 body. He did convert to dizzy ignition though. I'm bettin' he'll have wiring diagrams? I can't see it being too hard to set up though..as long as you can get the cct diagram of the donor , and drive a multimeter, you'll be able pick up the battery or ground from the C110 key ignition action, as required by the ecu of the new motor and then run it via relays as required..I don't know if it really is that easy in this case. For me it's usually a case of try it and see!! That pinout diagram is a good start, but I would still like to see what the ignition switch is doing ("ON" and "START"positions) in the donor car.

converting ignition to electronic
Sounds like they just patched around the loom path. They've identified the point that needs +12V and run a direct feed from the battery, a brave move in electronics unless you are sure of what you are doing! Do you have a wiring diagram for the donor engine or loom? You don't wanna let that smoke out...they run on smoke you know....
-
converting ignition to electronic
I suspect Mike is on the right track....But you will need wiring diagrams of the C110 and whatever the donor loom came from. It sounds like a difference in sequencing during the keying of ignition(Gawd! sounds like something from "APOLLO 13") . Do you have the ignition and lock from the donor? It's just a guess but you may be up against a difference in what gets connected to what as the key is turned. This to me explains the need for extra relays, remembering that (basically) a relay simply "relays" the switching of +battery or ground(-battery). Remember, it all runs on smoke....if you let the smoke out ...ya buggered  Jim.

Hakosuka on E-Bay
U.S. $11,100. Anyone here? Bit hard to say if that's a lot or not. Considerably cheaper than mine was, but just from the photos it's a lot rougher around the edges so to speak. Just how much is "enthusiast value" worth? It's all in eyes and wallet of the beholder I guess. Being "Rare, Rare, Rare" can be a double edged sword. Chance of local parts unique to this model almost nil. That's the beauty of "Z" ownership in your market, they were sold and supported locally for years and 30-35 years on with a bit of searching and luck you can still turn up that elusive part. Yet with all the practicalities against it I couldn't be happier with my own purchase. It just satisfies ALL the senses :stupid: I totally understood Erics post, in a way any car lover here could appreciate....some things are more than just the sum of their nuts and bolts, waddayareckon? Philosopher Jim.

Getting the C110 to handle
Here's a pic of Ray Fergusons (AKA Prince in forums) KPGC110 with RB20 . The sway bar is yellow, SELBYS suspension, popular during the '70's was all yellow. Perhaps Ray has found an aftermarket selbys bar for his '70's Skyline? He may be able to help further. I pinched the pic from an early Skylines thread over at Skylines Australia, thanks Ray. Jim.

KGC10-R Pics
Thanks for the photos and link Rob, Joes' little write up on the C10 made excellent reading. I've now been made aware of 4~5 older Skylines..say pre 1979, landed in the 'States by Servicemen returning from Japan. I think they've all had the L28 with triple twin choke sidedraughts, sweet exhaust note and as Joe says a high head turning factor! There was one for sale (in Florida think?) on Ebay a few months back. Blue C210 two door ~1978? with all the nice bits. Same story...Serviceman brought it back from Japan, keep looking Joe, you never know what you may find. Elsewhere on the 'net there is a guy in th U.S.(ex-Serviceman) with a white 1972 two door, he was advertising the fact the car was available for displays, shows, openings etc. Whatever the site was that I found him on, he had a friend with a four door c10. I looked for some time to find it again... no go , sorry. Hey, I did find a Z related pic with a skyline connection...wanna see it? Cheers fella's Jim.
