Is there anywhere we can read about the full story of discovery, the ensueing court case etc? Off topic a bit but do any of you guys know if the Pete Brock who was part of the Shelby design team for the Daytona coupe, is the same Pete Brock who raced Datsuns (BRE?) in the States ? Jim.

Remember Ray Ferguson? PRINCE on this forum, he has a white C110 GTX with the rb20 and webers. He now lives in Brisbane or SE QLD somewhere. Sounds like it might be him. His rego was SKY 66, but I don't remember if it was NSW or QLD rego. How do you view a particular members photo gallery now? Jim.

  10. "Where's Lachlan?" My thoughts exactly... Just looking at a normal woodgrain finished one on Yahoo Japan, doesn't look like it would be too difficult to turn it into the aluminium finish?
  11. Here 'tis 5 bids, 2 days to go ~$100 aussie. Just what you need for that '73 GT-R replica ....

(Saw a red C10 GTR for $10,500 (it was a 4 door) Geez!! Ya had me goin' there for a while Mr Camo. It's not a C10 GTR, but the previous model, an S54B 1967 NISSAN PRINCE A200 GT-B .The second generation of the Skyline GT, after the initial Prince Skyline GT released by Prince Motors in 1964-65. Did you see the Green one? Same issue magazine $37,000 !!. I have seen this car and it would have to be one of the most original unrestored S54-B series on the planet. Out of interest there are a few 4 door C10's in Australia...a very few! I don't know of any 4 door S20 engined GT-r's though, the original HAKOSUKA (something like boxy shape in Japanese). Nothing in the meaning as exotic as I imagined, ...I'd still have one :classic: :classic: Cheers, Jim.

Is your aircon. original or aftermarket? My air works when the temp. and vent position slide controls are pushed to the left, and I select a fan speed...no separate switch.

:cheeky: ...but wait!...there's more! MODERN MOTOR April 1973 page 21 ; A short article on the "NISSAN GT-R" (KPGC110) "The dash layout is almost identical (basically) to the new Datsun 240K -GT released in Australia last month I dunno Lachlan, they shoulda just left 'em alone as GT's, waddaya reckon?? Cheers, Jim.
  16. g72s20 replied to SER240Z's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
You can add MODERN MOTOR May 1973 to the list. More 240K GT pics , but referred to as a GL!
  17. Z432-R as well!! Good stuff Mike. Watch it though...the damn things are infectious, you start looking at Ebbro as well, and end up with....far too many! ...and I've only bought Prince and Skyline related examples. Cheers, Jim.

Well.....I'm as sure as you can be relying on magazine articles Lachlan. One thing I've discovered researching cars is there will ALWAYS be an exception to the rule Take a look at WHEELS MAGAZINE March 1973 SPORTS CAR WORLD April 1973 page 46 The WHEELS article even comments on the fact the car has 240K GT badges, but NISSAN insists the car will be sold as a GL. Back to SPORTS CAR WORLD October 1973 (page 62)and in a comparison with a four door GTS 350 cu.in. Monaro the comment is made that the first cars they had to test were badged 240K GT, but the latest have GL badging outside but still have 240K GT inside!! Like I said in my earlier post, these were nervous times for anyone trying to market a car in the political climate of the time with anything about it suggesting high performance. So NISSAN have done the " Wha'...? a GT? no, no squire! itsa GL mate...see? Beautiful plumage though eh!"(apologies to Monty Python!) I've gathered the magazines I mentioned...yes there are photos of Datsun GT badged 240K's. I'll have a go at posting them, do they need to be hosted or can you copy 'em from the hard drive direct to the site? As you point out, NISSAN didn't do anything official, magazine ads etc. that showed a GT badged car, just checking... the brochures I have show cars with the "DATSUN" script only. I wouldn't go as far as betting me left balljoint but I reckon the only difference between a GT badged and a GL badged 240K, is just that...the badges! now the SKYLINE GT badged ones are a different matter Yours in research, Jim.

Hi Scott, The 240K is a Skyline, C110 series. The "240K" tag was a product of export marketing '70's style. For Australia we first got the KHGC110 2 door fastback in 1973, initially as a Datsun 240K GT, almost identical to the Japanese domestic market Skyline GT of the same series. In 1974 the four door (HGC110)was introduced bearing the badgework "Datsun 240K GL" , same as the majority of the two doors. The name change from GT to GL apparently driven by the bad press of the times(early '70s) for performance cars in Australia and the fuel crisis internationally. Regarding the C10 GT coupes (HGC10 & KHGC10)These were at the time ('70~'72) Japanese domestic market only, although a very few private imports have found their way here. I have lotsa diecast examples, plastic kits, and plenty of pics . I've seen a couple on the 'net stateside...both white I think? Yeah... as you can see I like 'em too!! any in your neighbourhood?? :classic: Cheers, Jim.

Steve, if you can give me an appropriately boxed size and weight for one of these wheels, I'll run it past Australia Post. In my experience with mail from the States to Australia via airmail (using USPS airmail), the cost for larger boxs/parcels has been quite good, one helluva lot cheaper than UPS I can tell ya! We can but try mate. Regards, Jim.

I have gathered the following; Service Manual L20A, L24, L26& L28 series engines (dated October 1984) Service Manual Datsun 240K GL model hgc110 series This appears to be the above manual , combined with the last Nissan publication in this list HGC110 manual (Service Manual Datsun 240K GT model c110 series Chassis and body) in one binding, dated October 1976 Sevice Manual model C110 series Chassis and Body Supplement 1 dated September 1976 "contains information concerning revised service procedures and relevant data which have been introduced in the service journals and service bulletins issued during the period from November 1972 through to September 1976 which are considered necessary for servicing C110 models". Service Manual Emmission control system, passenger models for Australia Dated July 1976 C110 L24S engine included. Great wiring diagrams, and shows where all those little rubber hoses go to, and what the widgets, rinkbaks, and zonnameters on the end of the hoses do! Service Manual Datsun 240K GT model c110 series Chassis and body dated March 1975 Seems to cover everything except the engine(see the first manual listed) Oh! Can't forget the old science fiction, I mean scientific publications or Gregorys issue No. 302 Datsun 240K service and maintenance manual(Australian). Yet in all of these...No mention of AIRCONDITIONING! :disappoin So!......if anyone can point me in the direction of a Nissan publication referring specifically to the factory fitted aircon for the C110 , 240K to beg, borrow or buy, It would be greatly appreciated. Give me a yell if you need anything from any of the above manuals Regards, Jim.

Hey Razor, mine has had an alarm switch placed there. I checked the manuals I have for the C110 .......no wiring to that position from stock, and I can find no optional wiring to that position in the cct wiring diagram, so I'd say it is simply a factory supplied position for add ons such as AlfaDog and James have already suggested. I'd try what James has suggested, trace it out (carefully!) to see what it is/was switching. Cheers, Jim.
  24. Thanks Pete, I'll be doing a bit of looking around Sydney now, for bits. I'll let you know what i find If or when it happens. Cheers, Jim.
  25. Good car cheap...so I bought it!($805) Summarised story is; One elderly owner. Had to hand his licence in. Genuine 96000 Kms, regularly serviced.Black Vinyl roof with a black bootlid. Bad respray at sometime. Some body work needed.Near new Dunlop 195/65's, Wheels are the Datsun dealer optioned turbine type mags from the seventies, same as the 200B SX wheels, unfortunately missing three of the NISSAN caps. Original aircond. working, all options, interior is amazing considering its 29 years old! Diff or wheel bearings give some noise, auto does everthing it should but some noise at idle/ low speed(tailshaft?). Engine is just great. I just drove it 1100+ Kms over two days to get it home, from bumper 2 bumper traffic, to freeway flying at ....well approaching 5000rpm for a shortish stretchs of inviting freeway ( you can work it out:geek: ). Very quiet and loves to rev.I think it needs an overdrive for longer trips. It's all original and all there, but could use some attention to detail. I think I'm gonna enjoy this!! Now! who has the good guts on replacement parts for these? It's missing the passenger side mirror, and will need some rust panel replacement. Any wreckers....err Sorry! AUTO RE-Cyclers that may be of interest? Cheers, Jim.
