welcome and congrats on your find. i used to live in Greenville, and now reside in Harrison, AR. you list central MS in location, so maybe we are from the same area. if you ever get up this way, give me a shout.
  2. no pics of the engine bay????????????

yes thanks, i got that from you and didn't give ya credit, sorry. but found out how to wire it up elsewhere, as you didn't explain how to do it.

wanted to post an update as i went a different route for fixing my starter problems. after doing some research i find that adding a Bosch four pole relay into the starter wiring might work. tried that and yes, my starter hits every time now. $10 for the relay, and another $5 for the crimp connectors, and 12 ga wire. took the ignition switch wire off the solenoid, and ran it to the relay, pole 86. came off the battery with a wire to the relay pole 30/51 and out the opposite side, pole 87 back to the ignition switch connection. and last pole 85 was grounded to the car body. this took maybe thirty minutes and was a very easy and cheap fix. and i read where this takes the load off the ignition switch as a bonus.

this was from last weekend. we dodged a bullet this weekend, but snow is back in the forecast for this Monday, and this coming Friday. and we swept the snow off the z after this picture was taken, so don't go dripping on me for mistreating my z. the wife's Maxima and my roadster have the garage. if it keeps up with this snow, which is very unusual for us, i may be looking for a four wheel drive Nissan Patrol or Exterra, sigh.

replaced both cables as mine were not that good, and I still need to pull my starter and get it rebuilt. i did get the z to crank with jumper cables yesterday, and put some time in it driving around town. my car should be good to go,once i have the starter taken care of. glad to hear that you got your z running too OniZ
  8. Jared, get the fenders on that z and drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. any chance the 260Z and fairlady roadsters might be considered? too many models i am sure, but there are alot of those around.
  10. i hope he is reading this, because i think he is a super cool man, main reason, for loving the Z car. and i would consider him a very sharp businessman. i think we need to be glad that he recognised the importance of this Z, and snapped it up. keeping it from the elements as best he could, and is now hanging on to it. with intentions of getting it driveable again. thats' just too cool. and i wasn't knocking him at all, for not selling the car. if you took it that way, i sure didn't mean it. just taking a poke at the mag for a very enticing front cover, and then being let down or dissapointed from my view of a barn find. where i imagined someone taking this off his hands. as for the negative comments, or slights coming from some folks. i won't get in on that, but i think they should be called out for what they are. first guess being insanely jealous;)
  11. Jared, you are welcome. but i meant every word. beautiful build, and one that will inspire everyone to take it up a notch or two for sure. i see you are in Knoxville? i have several relatives in Maryville which isn't too far away. if we ever make it back up to vacation around Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg, will try and see if we might hook up while we are up. and one more event, you might consider, Branson Z fest. i am just thirty miles from there, and would drive up for sure to see that z.

I'm right there with ya, and i thought i knew cars.:disappoin
  14. not trying to slight the write up in Sport Z, but when i read the cover, and then go to the story, i was dissapointed thinking someone had PURCHASED a rare Z barn find. only to read that the owner has no intention of selling. he is very sharp though, give him that, in recognizing the importance, and value, or a very low vin. and remember everyone, this gentleman is getting on in years, and his recollections may not all be accuarate, but he deserves our respect, and love, as a fellow Z owner.
  15. i had an uncle tell me one time, if you run a hundred, and crack your windows a little, its just as good as a c.
  16. Jared, this is too much. the attention to details, and the effort of all involved are amazing. the shots of the engine bay, took my breath away. i offer this, for a long term way of recouping some of the money spent building this beautiful car. anytime it is at the track, offer rides for $20 to whatever the market will bear, for a chance to say, that i rode in the z owned by Jared. they will be lined up, with money in hand, and i know that i would be first in line. one or two laps around the track, drop them off, and take the next in line. you might be there all day. pictures extra ofcourse. hehe. i can only dream of having something this nice, and being able to see it, and ride in it, would be priceless, and make a memory of a lifetime, for all z nuts.
  17. bump keep voting everyone. mustangs are a dime a dozen. we can't let a mustang beat out our z!!!!!!!!

i hate to admit this, but after buying my roadster the z is sitting for the most part under a car cover in our driveway. having had back surgery three weeks ago, i can't remember the last time my z was cranked. four or five weeks i am guessing, since it was last started. yesterday i go to crank it, and it won't do anything. we get the jumper cables out, and after a few minutes, it starts up after turning it over several times. i drive it down the road on an errand, and leave it running while i step inside. then on to my next stop, and this time i shut it off. go to crank it again to head home, and it won't do anything again. ask for a jump start, and my buddy gets his cables, hooks them up to his truck, and this time it won't start. no click, nothing. we try hooking direct to the starter, and still nothing. so three guys proceed to push my car and we make a rolling start in second, and i manage to get home. now i am asking, why would it start at home jumping it off, and maybe twenty or thirty minutes of running, it wouldn't jump start the next time??????
  19. Terry's car is awesome, and I have always loved it. it is a great honor indeed, but this has to be killing him too, since he no longer owns the Z. and i bet he is missing it right now, more than anyone will ever know.
  20. i have posted this before, but can't remember if it was this site, or hybrid z. i found an old filter box, incomplete, and took the back part, with the air horns, and cut them out to fit inside my K & N filters. very easy to do, using a jig saw or saws all, and then smoothing them out with a bench grinder. i am sure several of you dont care to take a hard to find part and cut it up, but as i said, it wasn't complete, and i prefered to go with this set up instead of keeping the car original.
  21. mine was doing that, and the guy who helped set my carbs up claimed it was idleing too fast, and after adjusting the idle down, it quit. goodluck on fixing your z.

i bought my new o ring for the fuel sending unit from my Nissan dealer. all of three bucks if i remember right. sorry i don't have the number for it, but if you have a good parts man at your dealership, he will take the time to find it. good luck on the pump.
  23. i just ordered a plastic battery tray from my Nissan dealer for the '74 260 Z i own, and it was $3 or so. i have one on the roadster also, since it was so cheap. the sticker on the part bag had Tray Support BA Part number : 244428-N3600 this would be for a series 24 Battery.
  24. Griffon, i looked at your pictures and must say that you have a very nice z. i have never seen a roof air scoop and must ask its purpose. good luck with your sale.
  25. that is a beautiful z, but i noticed that it had flat top carbs. would that have something to do with the previous owners having trouble with it?
