  1. I bought 194 wedge style Inverted LEDs to replace teh standard bulbs in my dash, Being inverted they spread the light around so its not so direct. They plug straight in to the socket. Got them off ebay.
  2. Ok, after playing some more, i tightened up the boot in between the AFM and TB. I just took it up to 5000rpm with no probs, it still seems to hesitate a little after. The boot had a few smal cracks but they only looked like surface cracks. I might get the boot replaced, at least it seems to be running alot better.

any pics of the body kits?
  4. Any more suggestioms anyone? I've just ordered a service manual, hopefully that will give me some ideas also. In the mean time i'm driving around with little power
  5. Ok checked the throttle body sensor, theres no corrosion on the pins or plug, both seem to contact well. What is the part thats connected to the radiator hose and manifold, it has an electrical plug on it as well?
  6. thanks i'll check it out. What does FSM stand for?
  7. thanks rob, all hoses have been checked and a few replaced. I've have checked the big hose/boot from the AFM to TB but maybe i should double check it again.
  8. I havn't checked any of the sensors as i'm not too sure how. I've searched and read for many hours through many posts but still unsure. My mechanical knowledge is very limited. Where is the throttle position tester and how can i test it? thanks!
  9. Ok, Car was running well a few months ago. 1981 280zx N/A (n42 head) EFI Current problem. 10-20% throttle engine runs fine. When throttle is half way the car chuggs and strugles, when its pressed to the floor it takes off and runs fine up to 3500 - 4000rpm, Once it gets to about 4k it struggles to get any higher. Engine idle is good usually around 800-1000rpm (althought i have seen it idle high at 1200rpm) All injectors & electrical connectors have been checked and are fine Injector seals, rubbers plasitc caps have all been replaced. Fuel Filter is clean Fuel system has been cleaned Rebuilt distributor new spark plugs & leads My mechanic seems to think it may have something to do with the air flow meter? As if its not getting enough air, or getting to much prehaps? I've taken the cap of the AFM and reved the engine, and the AFM seems to be opening & closing ok. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

hey, that zed in the first pic has same paint job as mine. First time i've seen another like it. Good luck with your Zed hunt. my 280zx
  11. Thanks guys. I'll look into those wedge LED bulbs. Heres a few new shots of my zed with the headlight covers on. pic1 pic2 pic4 pic3
  12. Thanks for the info guys. Appreciate it BleachZee: Never new they existed, maybe this is what i'm looking for - a wedge bulb with 2 leds in it? Anyone know if these would work? http://stores.ebay.com/BestHongKong-LED-and-More_LED-Applications-for-Vehicles_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQsclZallQQsotimedisplayZ2QQtZkm
  13. Sensational, thanks for that, Could you please clear up which parts of the dash the combination gauge illumination lights and the instrument console lights are. I was thinking 5000MCD blue, would that be too bright? 2000MCD be siufficiant?
  14. Hey, Been a few months since my thread. Ive had my '81 280ZX T-Roof 5spd Manual for a few months now, after my brother has had it for the past 10 years. 280zx Front pic1 pic2 pic4 pic3 Runs excellent. My dashboard is very badly cracked. Cracked Dash pic1 Cracked Dash pic2 Cracked Dash pic3 Was planning on send it for a restore, but I managed to pick up a complete dashboard with gauges and all that was in perfect condition, but it was red. New Dash p1 New Dash p2 So i've striped it down and used Vinyl Die to turn it black, so far its looking great, looks new! New Dash - Vinyl Sprayed p1 New Dash - Vinyl Sprayed p2 I also sprayed the Guage inserts grey/silver - Plastic Gauge inserts On the back of the main dash panel (speedo/tacho) you can easily twist and pull out the lightbulbs which illuminate the dashboard. Red = Orange Bulbs, Yellow = Clear Bulbs for Warning Lights/ Indicators. Back of Dash Panel The Bulbs are just a clear bulb with orange wrap around them. Bulb In Socket Where bulb came from You can take the bulb out of the socket as well bulb seperate Now i'll tell you where i'm heading. I want to replace these dim bulbs with Bright LED, either a White or a Blue, i think this would light up the dash much better plus add a nice look to it at the same time. I presume i'll need a resistor on each led. I was planning on soldering it straight to the rear of the dash on the gold contacts, or i could solder them into the orginal black bulb bases and screw the bases back in as normal. The manual says - Combination meter - Illumination/Warning Lights - 3.4w Combination gauge - illumination light - 2.7w, Warning Lights - 3.4w Instrument Console Illumination light - 1.4w So i'm not sure which of these refers to what i'm after. Any ideas? If i can find the wattage, and the volts would be 12v i could calculate the amps etc and find an appropriate resistor. Let me know what you think! Any help would be appreciated.
  15. OK i've managed to source some wheels, they are 4x114.3 stud pattern 16x7" just awaiting confirmination on offset, i hope its ok. What is the max offset that will work for my 280zx? I've read many threads explaining offsets, I think understand them. I believe the stock rims for the '81 280zx where +12mm offset. So how much more is too much? Thanks
