    Metallic 2

Yes, the paint was based upon the original 1973 green but it has a lot of gold metallic. Thanks again. Cheers,

    New Tires

I purchased these tires based partly upon the recommendations I read on this site. My first impression is that the sidewall is much stiffer than the BFG Comp T/As I had on there previously. Consequently, initial turn-in is much quicker than with the BFGs. Additionally, steering effort is lighter than with the BFGs. I also went from 215's to 205's. The Iron Cross' are painted a dark graphite gray while the rest of the dark parts of the car are a flat black. The wheels were already painted when I bought my car in 1991. Thank you,

Thank you. The car was painted in 1996 in the original green but with a lot more gold metallic than stock. The paint is holding up really well. After my new tires were installed yesterday, I now need to touch up the paint on the wheels, though. Cheers,

We were very fortunate. On Friday it looked like Katrina was heading for Panama City and we were all set to evacuate to the west. Fortunately for us, the hurricane struck well west of here. We did have 60 mph winds for most of Monday and I hear that a tornado touched down near here. The devestation from the hurricane is just awful. These pics were actually taken today. I just installed new tires and thought I'd take some pics. Cheers,

  11. A few months ago, I had a similar miss. Just prior to getting the miss, I had been fiddling with the carb mixture and pulling the plugs out frequently to see if they had become carbon fouled. It turns out that during all of the installing and removing the plugs, I had inadvertantly unthreaded the screw in receiver at the top of one of the plugs (i.e. the part where the plug wire connects to the plug) and bent it over while trying to force the plug wire on. I replaced the plug and I no longer had the miss. This may not be your problem as you recently replaced all of your plugs, but I thought I'd through it out there. Cheers,
  12. Marty, I've had fuel vaporization problems twice since I've owned my car. The first Fuel vap. problem was due to a leaking exhaust manifold. While learning how to maintain my car, I ran the carbs overly rich for an extended period and warped my exhaust manifold and ended up shearing off the manifold studs at both ends. Prior to fixing the actual problem, I ended up installing a later Z hood with louvers. This had two benefits: underhood temperatures where reduced and the front end lift at high speed was also reduced (evidenced by the fact that the rear corners of the hood no longer lifted at high speed). To further alleviate the fuel vapourization problem I re-wrapped the fuel rail with insulation and covered with aluminum tape. More recently, I installed a MSA 6-into-1 header (coated) and ended up having a fuel vap. problem again (especially if I went through a drive-thru). The problem was that one of the header tubes passed directly underneath the rear carb float bowl. After a few minutes at idle, the float bowl would get very hot and fuel vap. symptoms would occur. To rectify the problem, I got some scrap metal and manufactured an extension to the stock heat shield which extended under the rear carb bowl. I covered the under side of the new heat shield with insulation and aluminum tape and have since had no problems. This solution is not the most aesthetically pleasing as the view of my coated header is obscured but it works. Cheers,
