What'd you get for Father's Day?
Hope You all had a happy fathers day. I'm still too young for that kind of commitment. I spent some time with my father in the evening. Texasz you are a very Lucky man. I hope everything goes well. Enjoy your New watch. I wore a Seiko automatic up until my father gave me a new Seiko Kinetic 3 years ago. -Brandon

Forgive me father for I have sinned.
Keep it yellow!! I love orginal yellow Z's. I dont see a problem with a middle age man with a Yellow Z. Who the F*** cares. It's all about the enjoyment of the car. When you look at your car in the garage, what color do you imangine it being? Chose the color *YOU* are going to enjoy the most. If I was going to change the color of my Zed I would pic one of the orginal colors. I also advise chose a color thats close to the color on your floor board and engin bay. That way it's not so tacky when you look down or when looking at the engine bay. -Brandon 71 240Z 918 Orange orange. 71 240Z 901 Silver 71 240Z Gold&black.

WEIRD Found A Nissan 4cyl, With "Z" on the vlave cover..
Those must be different from the ones we got. U. S got 2.0 2.2 2.4 hemi heads. They have 2 spark plugs to each cylinder. There in all Nissan trucks from 80-85,86-89 fuel injected (those suck)! Back when they were brand new they were these high fuel economy quick engine. They came in other cars here in the us. Most notably is the 720 Nissan truck. As reliability goes I would never say the are junk! My fathers 84 truck has over 300,000 miles and never had a rebuild or any tranny work. -Brandon

toyota engine compatability
Welcome! I personally have never seen any Toyota engine in a Z. You might want to try http://www.hybridz.org/ Over here we are dedicated to the first gen Z. there are guys on the board who have done engine swaps. Mainly Nissan power. We do have chevy guys on the board. I wont swap anything that's not Nissan power. As for the Celica...well there nothing like a 240,260,280 Z! Feel free look around. Use the search feature. See what you can find.

Frame rail repair?????
For $85 I think I would go with the better qualty Zed findings ones. If the reserve was set at the current bit price($55) I would have to problem purchasing the rails for a daily driver. By no means would I put these on my resturation project. -Brandon 71 240Z P.S why is does he have a 280Z but selling 240Z parts. Where is the tranny at?

chrome headlight covers for sale
WHats happening to all of our parts? Is it the fact that all the old parts left on dealers shelves are slowly drying up? Has Nissan just quit supplying the parts?

Anyone have a DVD video setup in their 240Z or even a 280ZX?I might do this 4 my 280Z
Besides the fact that it is totally illegal to have any video screen viewable of the driver while the car is running. Kinda like the DWI laws, if you have your keys in your hand that's a DWI. I say go for it. I wound go with a visor or the glove box. I'm very interested in the exact equipment you are going to use. Wouldn't mind having a video set up in my truck. So let us get this straight. Your buying an LCD display, buying a portable DVD player (IS this the size of a CD player? Didn't know they make em) And a Head unit with audio in and out? And somehow your going to hook up a PS2 or XBOX. You can buy a view screen for a PS2 And Xbox for a $100. That's the cheapest. You've got your games, movies, Linux computer. My last note, what security system are you drooping in your Zed? Xbox is a $300 piece of equipment+$60 games. -Brandon 71 240Z

Should I buy this?
There is nothing like L24 power. The sound alone is a killer. If you want horsepower go with a L28T swap -Brandon 71 240Z

How long can a rotary last at 9k rpm?
Thank you mikeW and Ed. Mikew I really enjoyed reading your post. So if they left water in the engine it probably would have lasted a lot longer. Guess the engine was not blown if the car was running. -Brandon

Whats the difference Z or Zx
You've got the Japanese domestic market Fairlady Z with the 2.0? 2.4? inline 6? SMUSICMANS Personally I like Z cars better, including the new 350Z. The ZX are bigger heavier and not to mention not to appealing. We have to sperate the 1990-1996 300ZX. I think the Z32 is a classic body style. The problem with 90-96ZX is the $$$ tag. The best Z in my personal opinion is the 70-73 240Z. When you stop and look at an early Z, the view just says it all. Those of us with 240Z's know what I'm talking about. Then you've got the 1970 model. I enjoy the history and heritage behind the Z. Most of all I enjoy the great people the Z draws like myself, you, and all others. Zmefly (James) comes to mind. -Brandon

Original 240Z A/C
R12 is a much better coolant. Personally I would not buy a kit thats 30+ years old. If you cant afford r12 would go with Freeze 12 which is compatible with r134a and r12. When it comes to A/C in the 240Z. Nothing will really do the job. -Brandon 71 240Z

Whats the difference Z or Zx

L28ET into my 280Z
SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH! HybridZ.org is a good place to start. Zcar.com has some great info on the site. Our club has some info on a turbo swap. There is no such thing as a how-to. As long as the lawn mower isn't scary you should be fine. Just make sure you search as much as you can. you will need a Factory service manuel for a 280ZXT. A FSM for your 78Z would also be very useful. I would also grab one a Microfiche CD sold by our club. -Brandon 71 240Z http://www.zcar.com/forums/search.php?f=1&search=turbo+swap&globalsearch=0&match=1&date=0&fldauthor=0&fldsubject=1&fldbody=1&start=151

How long can a rotary last at 9k rpm?
For those of us with dial-up. What happened to the engine other than catch on fire. How long did it take for the engine to blow up? What did they do and how did they do it? -Brandon

OT - Really bad riced up cars
Isn't there a pic of a guy who put their 280Z on a Toyota 4x4 frame? The picture should be around in the gallery. -Brandon

Factory restored Z
If you were to show up with Her Majesty and I was the judge I would commend you on all your hard work it took to restore her back to the way it came off the assembly line.

Factory restored Z
I think it's a $10,000. Just so happens to be the current bid. The owner probably drive it off and on. A dealer has it. Probably a local trade-in. if indeed it was a trade in, the PO had no clue what he owned. -Brandon

Insurace Question
Todd Welcome to the club. It's great to have another knowledgeable member. Here in Florida they nail you to the wall if your under 25. I keep a 4X4 truck under full insurance. Anything with a 4X4 is insured as a sports car. What a bummer. needless to say I'm unable to keep the Z under full coverage. Neither can I get Collectible Car Insurance:stupid: I never drive the Z. No worries about thieves

Poor item description
Is there supposed to be a link? I don't see one

1973 240z $$ question
What are you trying to do? Is this going to be a restoration project or a daily driver? Sounds like the car could be a good candidate for both. 1,000-1300 for the car is not that bad.

Air Pump?
The old plugs are probably miss firing like crazy. A cheep fix to this is to take a wire brush to them. Make sure they are gaped right. They should be pre gapped. The wires should be fine as long as a mouse has not gotten to them. Check for corrosion. Check inside the dizzy. Make sure everything's right. Points might need to be cleaned. Z cars are cold nature. Use the choke to keep the engine running until worm. You've made the first big jump. Getting the car started and moving. -Brandon
