  2. Nissan Parts Zone is NOT a Nissan official site. It is set up either by a dealer or some other party. The official Nissan site is at http://parts.nissanusa.com/ The official Nissan site will ask for your zip code to refer you to your closest Nissan dealer for the actual purchase.

Kurt here a solution for your question on how to keep the same look and appearance for a stock class car. I put a new dash in my Z a couple of years ago and I wanted it to look like it have never been disturbed. The concern was the rivots today are different than those used in Japan in the 70's. If you are replacing the whole dash then once the dash is out just take a Dremel and cut off the metal tabs that the vin plate is rivoted to. Then from the back side loosen the rivots and fully remove the vin plate. Then simply glue, epoxy or CA the plate in position on the new dash tabs. From the outside no one will be able to tell the vin plate has ever been off. If you are not replacing the whole dash, you can still gently remove the vin plate from the underside of the mounting plate. The dash needs to be out of the car or the windshield out to gain access to it. As far as transfering a vin plate from one dash to another that is legal to do. The vin plate must always match the car. I hope this helps. Bob 72 240Z 96 300ZX

  5. Shane, Unfortunately I do not have an email or phone #. I think Fred lives in the Thousand Oaks are of CA. Fred was award winner at MSA so you might check that site for a last name etc.
  6. The car in questions belongs to Fred S. It has the full 350Z running gear and dash and consol in it. You would have to see it in person to appreciate the engineering that went in to it. Fred has also built a 240Z 4x4 that has been at MSA as well. Fred great job!!
  7. If you do not like the "bug" yellow, you can also get the 35th in Black and Silverstone. If you go on Nissanusa.com you get get more specs and configure your choices.
  8. On line registration for the 10th Annual West Coast Z Nationals is now available. I just went on their site and saw that it was up. Z you There
  9. Carl, Thanks for the comments. I am in So Cal
  10. "I'm hoping that someone can look up a good part # for me for a 73 240Z windshield" The part number you need is 72631E4100. However Carl is correct that Nissan no longer carries it either here or in Japan. One did just recently go on eBay for about $800. You never know maybe a dealer has one collecting dust on his shelves. Installation can be tricky. I would definitely recommend a new weatherstrip and a profession. Then hold your breath while they slap on it to slide in!
  11. I used Minwax Red Oak on mine. It came out really nice. Just a quick how to- sand the metal spokes with fine sand paper; use ultra fine steel wool on the outer rim area. Once both surfaces are smooth mask off the rim and spray the spokes and center with a can of Satin Black. Then stain the rim and then apply the gloss urethane to the outer rim. If you do not want a high gloss on the rim you can use semi glass that will dull it a little.
