Stop it you guys are bad now I'm wanting one . I know a guy who has one here but it's basically a shell he told me he wouldn't bother fixing it up kinda sad really it's just rotting away :disappoin
  2. I think i have spare blinker switch however by the time i posted it up to you and the fact that it's a 20year + old unit i don't think it's worth while because i think for about $10 i got a newer smaller one from my local parts store. I know HELLA make one that suits the 240z but that one went sour on me and I had to give the unit a tap sometimes to work again. The one i got in their now can't remember the name but was definately $10 or under just pop into repco or something. If no luck i will have a peek under my cars dash and tell u what brand and part no. Gav. As for 16" wheels never had anything bigger than 15" can't help ya

FWIW i have delt with All Z parts before and was pleased with their services. I think I will be ordering two 2 door skins off them and maybe some distributor parts also. :classic:

sounds like your SU's are in poor tune condition wise. The fuel injection is good but it actually looses power over the Twin 240z SU's because it has such small ports etc... www.ztherapy.com i believe may help you to see what's involved with getting them working well. The SU is a great carb you just need to know what your doing or have someone who does set them up for you. I took a 260z for a drive on the weekend that had been set up very well and made me realise that mine are due for a bit of work i think. :cheeky:

It's pretty funny when you take a close look you can really tell it's not real. It's true the Ferrari on the previous cover caught my eye the first time and from a far i thought it was a Z . The red car caught my eye straight away and I bought it without even looking for what article was inside. Alan did they mention anything about Goertz and did you correct them on their mistake saying he designed it?

Hi Dan i see your motor puts out an impressive 250rwhp can you tell us about the specifications of your motor?:classic:

Carl those are very good points I believe Nick lives in Australia unless he left the country . Here we get the S14 & S15 Silvia as well as the S13 K's and the 180SX with the SR20's in them. Parts in Australia are not the problem and it's basically the same with RB motors. We have R32, R33, R34 and we also have plenty of the RB30 motors. There is a huge number of imports in Australia these days so i can't imagine parts being a major issue for anyone. On the other hand a L28 turbo a motor i'd love to put in my car is a rare find in Australia. I have a P90 and F54 block but finding a computer, plenum , exhaust manifold, etc.... is quite a task and alot of people get stuff custom made. If i ever do go Turbo for my 240z it will either be an Rb26 or a L28 turbo.

You know what's funny about that? The fact that the very spoiler you have on your car everyone in America asks about and the ones your after i believe you can only order in from America. I don't know if you can get them another way but whoever you get them from here will have to probably order them from the US.

I know a guy almost making 300HP at the flywheel with SU's. Using this very set up, I can't tell you the specifics but i have a fairly good idea of what's involved. With tripples it would reach even more power. Oh by the way i'm looking at building an identical motor to this with some help but not sure when. It mainly depends on me getting the money together.

Yeah I wanna go down the Stroker path before i try turbo. I like turbo but I love the grunty noise of a worked L6. It's also the fact that turbo starts a few more headaches for me. I've seen how a well built stroker motor goes on just a set of SU's so i've been pursuaded you could say. I don't wanna do an engine swap especially a commodore engine even if it is a Nissan motor :tapemouth .

Ben doesn't sound major most likely an electrical or fuel problem, not engine. You didn't hear any horrid noises coming frm the engine did you? It could be the distributor mine died recently in terms you mention but mine was electronic. The shafts in them wear out and the points also have a habbit of going bad in the non electronic ones. it's most likely a small thign if you ask me.

Alan thanks for the information, I had a look at the magazine had a laugh i noticed under the bonnet you can still see a strip of yellow very faint but if you look closer behind the grille you can see the yellow paint in the engine bay . Funny indeed and even funnier the story you told me, It didn't match up that the cover was a red car then there was a yellow car inside, i thought that maybe they put the red car on the cover to go with the slogan. "It must be a Ferrari!". The car is a very nice car just like the rally copy from the one you saw. I do agree though i haven't found an article yet on the S-30 that's been free from flaws. Makes me wanna write my own story on the Z. Actually come to think of it there is one good article on the Z i have it was Modern motor (Alfa puppy has the same mag). It gave a pretty good description on the 432r brief but good. 1 other mag not S-30 related gave a good write up on the KPGC10. It was a skyline mag in Australia so maybe not all hope is lost just yet .

Ok well i encountered a similar situation to you Alan. I was in a petrol station and on the magazine rack I see ClassicCars magazine. A bright red object almost Ferrari like is staring right at me. I pick it up and it's a great looking 240z, the article is about badge snobbery saying that it's a great car and many wouldn't know it's a Datsun alot of people when questioned about the car after it's had the badges covered up with tape say it looks like a Ferrari/Porsche. Anyway point was I bought the mag read through it only to discover how it says Goertz designed the car and the underlying message i got was that Japan couldn't invent such a wonderfull looking car not it had to be a German or a European influence. I thought about writing to them I can't find the cover on their website. So you know the one I'm talking about when I get home if you like I can find the issue #. http://www.classiccars.co.uk/ is their webpage I am at uni now so I don't have much time to sift through it just yet. The only problem for me is that I understand Matsuo designed the car I just don't have to resources to prove it. I spose i could point them to www.zhome.com and Carl Beck's article not sure if that would do any good though. Oh well maybe it was worth the $10 just for the pics of the 240z. The 1954 Maserati A6G/2000 Zagato Coupe was also a good read. Gav.:sleepy:

So far I've seen 2 advertised, while i have managed to save some money towards one i don't know if i really wanna pay almost $1000 towards one. It makes a turbo set up almost more viable. However I will keep trying . I'm looking to spend around $600 on one.

Mr Volvo my offer still stands I am willing to come take a look at her. It seems to be a genuinely honest car but all Z cars hide secrets somewhere. It's a later model so that's good in the sense that there is less chance of major rust in it. You have my mobile number give me a call maybe next Tuesday or before hand. That's when I'm mostly available to look at it. Friday maybe but I have to work and I'd rather not be in a rush when looking at it. If all else fails maybe Sunday usually my day of rest . Gav,

I know this isn't what u wana hear but i think it's the Coil as Beandip said earlier they have a tendancy to heat up and go silly after that. I dont think it's the carbs but it's very hard to diagnose over the internet as you can imagine. Coils are dirt cheap and if it's looking old worth a change over anyway. gav
  21. Ouch!. I have to say being a Z fan I'm a bit on and off these cars I'd really like to drive one though just to see what the story is for myself. But the ZX owner OUCH!!!:tapemouth

Yes Gee $880 is pricey if you can pass on the info that would be great. I might see if I can get the price down a little but seeing as these are getting rarer I don't think they will be getting cheaper soon.

Yep this happened to me also. I parked my car out the front of work and someone drove into the bonnet not as bad as that. I had to get a vented one as here in Australia a straight non vented 1 is as rare as hens teeth. So i got it painted, then a week later again someone hit it and the bumper had to be replaced. No note noboy saw anyone so i parked it at the back from then on. Still unhappy with the vented bonnet and the paint job I finally got my hands on a good bonnet i am planning to find a good painter and fix that up. so around $1500 all up it will be back to normal :disappoin . Good luck and don't go to a crap body shop. My 2cents.

Yep it's original all right. $50 is cheap so anyone buying this will get a bargain if you ask me .
