love the racing stripes Z is that your Z or a friends. I've seen it around have a few pics of it on my PC very nice the under bonnet lady is cool and the side pipes
  8. You have a 280z with steel valve seats the early L24's and L26's mainly had the brass ones. The l28 came with hardened valve seats . I know it's illegal to run a unleaded car with lead in Australia dunno about the states.:cheeky:
  9. i know a few people who would be interested in that motor have you sold it?
  10. they should be labelled mine were with an indications as to which one faced the front of the car and which one faced the back. They are a bastard to install and i would highly recommend having the old ones pressed out and new ones pressed in. The car feels alot better if your old bushes were worn when you replace them .

Hi guys I want a new set of mirrors for my Z I'll post pics of the ones I have if you look in my gallery you can see them I'm a bit sick of them thinking of some new ones. George (That Ozzy guy) has ford XY ones there pretty trick on a 240z but i was also considering the bullet style ones found here http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=OM03 it will be expensive to import to Australia but worth while. If anyone knows where to get them in Australia please let me know. BTW I like Chrome mirrors not color coated or plastic.
  13. Oh George is correct I've found that BP Ultimate had made my high comp E88 F54 blocked 240z run the best. I had major pinging problem but i put this down to a faulty module on my electronic distributor. I have a new distributor, and soon a new E88 head with larger camshaft profile wanting to see how this goes . I will also see how smooth the chamber is etc to see if this was causing any knocking although this would be more of a problem in a turbo motor. Let ya know.
  14. A few reasons really the first is that the substitute they put in for the lead isn't all that good. Second it's not as powerful as the old leaded fuel was and third because it's overpriced and really no better than normal leaded fuel. I have been running the car on optimax for more than a year and it definately runs better than premium fuel.:classic:

  17. Dunno about optimax destroying gaskets maybe the cleaning agent inside it might cause it to deteriorate them dunno I've run optimax with my Z on Su carbs no problems so far. A stock 260z wouldn't require a high octane I think the manual says 88 octane and up. However if your valve seats are brass(notsure) you might wanna use a lead or lead substitute however if your Z has done high KM's then you will need to rebuild the engine within the next few years anyway and therefore it won't make a difference till then. Lead substitute is a joke in Australia. You can run normal unleaded but you'll probably loose some power. Stick with optimax or premium.
  18. what timing did u adjust? If not electical then mechanical timing if it's feeling really sloppy could it be a timing chain that has streched and slaps around? The tensioner could have broken? Sounds like detonation to me have you done as other suggest check valve clearance electrical timing etc?? Maybe it's a broken valve is it just under load what if you rev it at idle sound ok? You can always check if the engine is on the way out by doing a compression test and checking your oil pressure for a start. You could have a problem with your distributor are you running a mechanical points type or electronic one? Pinging is difficult to describe I always say it's a clacking noise sorta like a chain slapping around or when u almost stall a car you hear a similar like noise. The fact that you mention is higher gears it being more common would mean under higher load and usually means pinging also if your travelling along and your at fairly low revs like 2500rpm - 3000rpm maybe a bit less and you give it wide open throttle do you instantly hear the noise? If so I'd put my money on an electrical adjustment and definately pinging.

Might be a silly question but what is the condition of your lower bushes? Are your drum brakes in good condition? just trying to get an idea here. :classic:

BTW i wax her often but hadn't had the chance yet hence the car cover . So i don't have to wash again before applying the wax . Do you go with the canauba wax that's meant to take really hot tempretures?

voyeurism - An obsessive observer of sordid or sensational subjects. Hmmm I can live with that . It strikes me though how i can leave the car under a cover in a garage free from car parks to find that someone within my house knocked the side mirror so hard it won't screw back into the door properly. I feel i can never win why me :disappoin . I had it reversed into once and the front of the bonnet damaged $700 and 2 weeks later someone does it again this time the bumper $300 more. I go to great lengths to look after my precious maybe I should just stop caring .

What's your location in Australia I paid $700 for 4 new struts all around in a 260z that included labour somewhere close to $600-$700 anyway. Depends on what brand they are I guess. To me it doesn't sound unreasonable.

I had GT2 on PS and I managed to get the S30 Fairlady Z it was a 240zg oh yeah I had fun I used it to win alot of the races did it up to 350HP shame no turbo L28 engine could be done just N/A Tune. A friend of mine got the KPGC10 GTR in the game also but i could never find it at the dealer ship . I just watched the GT4 game trailer and loved it I'm so inspired now I've always wanted to program PC games like this hence the reason i'm doing a multimedia stream in computer science for an additional 1.5 years after my advanced diploma in computer science this year. Looks like alot of fun. Also did you guys note that the factory from which they were taking photo's of the cars in Japan from the Nissan factory was the same as the one Alan visited a few months back? Saw alot of great cars and from the fairlady 2000(Roadster) to the 350z. Hmm i'll have a look this week for the Nissan game again have a feeling i lost the cd cause I just didn't care about it.:disappoin
