What motor is this?
If your intake manifold says N36 it's most likely L26 if it read E88 then your looking at more likely a L24. P30 came on both l24 and l26 blocks as already stated. What year is your Z also? If it's a 2+2 parts car I think it's gonna be l26.

Blown Head Gasket!!!
Well finally solved the problem it was the distributor module that was causing all the headache's. I had the rarest of all dizzies too the series 2 turbo 280zx electric dizzy(mitsubishi) so the module wasn't easy to find. I ended up forking out for another electronic dizzy with the E12 module(Hitachi) I think is the one. The car is going ok but I'm also bought another cylinder head with a larger duration camshaft. Around 76 degree's which is what I was thinking of doing. I was tempted to go with a turbo set up I saw for around $3k but decided I was best of not doing that just yet anyway. Thanks for the advice everyone and I'll let you know how my new camshaft profile turns out. Will have to get the dizzy recurved also . BTW: If anyone has a module to suit the mitsubishi dizzy let me know.

Turbo onto triple webbers
You'd be better off using a single weber to suck thru the air into your turbo. Just a thought.

value 1977 240z
It's a 280z and not a 240z, I don't know the current value of a 280z maybe one of the others can help you. BTW a 280z can be identified by it's larger front bumpers. :tapemouth

Interior of my 240z
Yeah it's truly great I give it a dose of Flash Dash something sold here in Australia that's IMHO much better than Armour Oil it keeps the dash looking wet for 2 months + and even feels wet to touch. Great for protection and it was really well restored I'd give it 9 out of 10, 1 point lost because at the top there is an ever so slightly ripple that most wouldn't notice but I do. Otherwise 10/10. and highly recommended.

Rear of my Z
The bumper is in the garage needs to be rechromed not rusted just dirty and worn. I've considered smoothing it off but I'd like to keep the car as original as possible so I'll probably rechrome the old bumper .

most likely from the gearbox if not from the rear gearbox seal where the driveshaft enters try looking at the speedo cable input and reverse switch areas.

I fit the 10 - 25 k bracket doesn't help when trying to restore the car, but it's the best I can do being a Uni student at the moment unfortunately .

NEW MEMBER, need help with car...
My friends VL turbo had a crank angle sensor problem, didn't stop the car from starting but it did cause it to stall or die for no reason it would missfire and cause all havok. A VL turbo is an RB30Turbo (Nissan Turbo) car and straight 6 basically a younger brother of the L28. I guess it would be best to wait for pictures. As I understand it the L28(280zx) turbo had a different intake manifold, and distributor.

NEW MEMBER, need help with car...
The black module u are refering to does exist on a ZX I have a ZX distributor on my 240z and it has the module but some modules don't work on carbed cars. If you don't have the module is it possible it's been replaced by a points distributor or something like the petronix ignitor for some obscure reason? I am having a similar problem ith my 240z currently that I believe is electrical. Have you disconnected the spark plug that goes from coil to distributor? hold the lead against the valve cover and turn it over it there's no spark there we know it's someting other than distributor. Good luck will keep you posted on my progress with the 240z.

HMMMMM, interesting
What if my Datsun sounds like an Atomic Bomb? You've seen the video heheeheheh. I agree but I like Datsun more than Politics or religion, actually the Z is a religion . Anyone seen the add for the 350z that states Z as a religion?

280Z vs. Honda Civic Del Sol......... help
Let bygons be bygons, so he's a BS artist give him a paint brush and let him keep busy . If he needs to pretend he has these things to make him important then he's already lost. You have a 20 year + old sports car which has probably been driven by people like him 20 years ago. It's gonna need some work and it's gonna need research to make it do what you want but at the end of the day you will end up more knowledgable more proud and you won't be like every other tom d*** and harry on the road who needs to pretend to look special. my moto there's always a bigger fish, there will always be someone out there who can beat you, rather than get annoyed about it don't worry about it, I've been there done that myself. The Z is a great car because you can learn so much from them and have so much fun at the same time. They have killer looks and with some research and $$$ you can make them handle great, go fast, and still be daily drivable . Sorry to Rant on but he's just no worth while

13.5 @ 106.5, Na L6
Dan what engine head and cam are you using? Curious because I have the option of using an E88 or P90 and have seen what a mates P90 engine can do. My E88 has had larger valves installed and slightly lumpy cam with some porting etc.. it goes alright probably 14.5 down the 1/4 and trying to decide if I should start from scratch with a p90 or do more work to the E88 .

I see your point of view as I said I'd like to give body work a go myself and if I'm unhappy with it then I guess I'll leave it to the pros but everything is worth a shot once.

Gawler Swapmeet
You know what I might be later on in the year. I'm not happy with the vented style on the early 240z's. I still have my old bonnet at Zworx and didn't repair because the front of it was damaged and apparently it's not worth repairing. Can't guarantee there's no bog but it's definately straighter than my old one was before it was knocked. PM how much you'd be willing to spend?
