I am curious as to why you didn't go turbo? Most people usually do when they go RB what were your reasons?

As much as I love the original seats and feel they suit the car, I have to admit these Sparco's really go well especially on a red car, I think they may be a must for my Z .

agreed but where are the Brembo's? are you talking about the discs? I think I'd love a set of these calipers or brembo ones. I think alot of people don't realise how good it is to have a great braking car. Tuned suspension aswell afterall what's the point in going fast if u can't corner fast .

Rust Replacement Parts
BBALLS I loved your story so true I remeber being 16 with a 240z taking it to a panel shop to fix the rust in the firewall and being told don't bother with that old datsun. The guy who repaired it even said the car was too rusted. He had a 180b and was trying to talk me out of it, but he did mention the fairlady Z's were worth a bit these days. i told him it was a 240z and he must have thought it was a 260z cause he sorta looked shocked. Anyway do you sell door skins, it's the only place of rust left on my Z the doors. Oh and bonnets what can u suggest that's cheaper than $700 for a brand new one. I have 2 bonnets both vented one is a 260z vented factory one, the other has e-type style flutes, but was damaged by people reversing into it, would like to repair it but was told not worth while. :classic: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2263&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2846&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 I like that bonnet :disappoin

Blown Head Gasket!!!
Compression results finally got a compression tester and well I don't think it's a gasket. Cylinder's in order are from 1 to 6. {181, 179, 180, 182, 182, 179} Minor discrepancies but I put that down to valve adjustment which needed to be done anyway. Trying to recall the event and definately remember a bang like sound. I remember the clutch felt like it lost pressure but the resevoir is full. The car stalled and wouldn't start back up for a while, plugs look definately flooded, was in traffic when it happened. remember it backfiring and shooting blue smoke out the intake(carbs), i've know the valve stem seals are screwed so that could be the cause. I'm thinking electrical timing also cause car would start and cut out above 2000rpm put it down to water in chamber but now not so sure. Just as I was saving for a rebuild still would like to build that motor i was talking about. Now it seems the engine is ok, as I said no oil in water no water in oil. Is it possible that the head gasket is slightly blown? but even then the readings would be further apart?. It was the first time i've used a tester and I disconnected the coil and turned engine with starter and guage went up step by step till it reached a max of ~180 on most cylinders. Other possibility could it be that the clutch that needed replacement somehow broke or malfunctioned that it caused the engine to stall and not run correctly? I will be pulling gbox anyway so I guess I'll take a look. Other than that I'm thinking electrical issue causing bad timing. HELP:disappoin I will now pull valve cover and take a look for anything like a rocker that's popped off or maybe broken cam oiler even though it supposed to have internally oiled cam as PO said never looked under valve cover will keep posted.

Rally du Bandama 1973
Well I can't add much to the conversation regarding who's car it was and if it was works or ex-works, all I know is I like reading about it, and the poster looks real cool . Love the dust cloud.

Best sounding 240/280 exhaust
Well you are up to 3 litre Brett and carbed engines sound that much angrier . To those who have had trouble with my video I apologise I didn't realise it would be so sort after. I'm not sure where I can upload it at the moment but I'll try think of something. Actually I may have a spot come to think of it Post soon if I have the results I'm after.

The truth about headers.....
Alot of the Aussie guys use the Ford 65mm throttle body I think it's a straight forward swap. I'll agree on the FI set up with those mods I think you need all 3 to really get anything from it. FI is great if you use the car regularly, Carbs are good once you understand them and can keep them running well. When it's freezing outside FI win's hands down .

Best sounding 240/280 exhaust
I think our cars are very similar in DB range, I came in at 119db at 4500rpm, and it drowns out harley's too. When I first got it I couldn't stop smiling at how loud it would be when I gave it stick. The best is near my Uni there is a train bridge and if the car is warm enough by the time I go through there i sometimes open past halfway and it echo's so loud it sometimes hurts my ears when i have my window down. The best kick I get is from the people at the cafe's under the bridge area it must blow their ears off I'm mean I know but I always think of top gun when I do it :tapemouth . My girlfriend who is usually next to me is Goose and I'm Maverick .

g-nose years
Yeah he had some bracket made up for it after it being driven into. He doesn't live in Daytona just everytime I see his car he's driving fast . It's pretty impressive to see a 240z fly towards you from behind at 160km/h or more . I never noticed the droopy gnose maybe he still get's it.

Sydney Z Club Concours
I will it will all come down to if it is indeed a head gasket I blew on my 240z and how long it would take to fix valve stem seals. Oh and cost if it's gonna cost more than i think is a good price I'll probably be saving that money and spending it on a new motor build up. It's a bit complicated in so little words so that's y it's a big maybe but I'll definately let you know if i'll be there for sure.:classic:

Turn signals again!
You've been deprived . While your at it the pass switch on the indicator can be easily fixed they come undone by not being long enough in length I think you'll see it when u remove the s/wheel. just extend it a little solder it back and you can flash your high beams just like new cars cool huh? Not for us 240z owners though .

SU carbys?
Hi Mellow your roundtops are not actually Hitachi SU's (Japanese SU's found on the 240z). They look to be the British equivelent found on MG's, Jag's etc.. Still better than the current boat anchor set up(260z standard carbs). From my experience the Japanese ones are superior in quality and have a habbit or being more relaible like anything japanese when compared with the british . I think another read of www.ztherapy.com will help you understand why they are so great. The bit about chrome plating parts is interesting as it says it helped them to last against wear all these years. I would highly recommend rebushing the carbs getting new needle seats and gaskets for the carbs aswell as setting the float level before putting them on your car. That way it should be a smooth change over good luck.

Melbourne Z shops again
Yes and no, but don't you plan on doing more than 1 Z? So the tools will be used again and not to mention nothing goes perfect on the l28 turbo say it throws a rod? back to the shop and more $$$. Also you wanna learn how to fix it right or how to build a great engine nobody said it would be cheap. Granted some things you need a specialist but for the most part I agree with Nathan(Zpeed). Ben is building a killer engine I'm sure he's not doing all the work but a large part. I'm about to go down this route also but I do not wanna leave this to a mechanic i'd rather understand how it works and how to fix it so I don't worry about driving it a bit hard once in a while. Would you agree?

Got one at last!
Hayden are you gonna put all that talk into action and build a concours 240z? I know you love the idea of original and in many ways I hear you, I would like to know if she has the original engine and are you gonna go by the books on paint color interior color engine block color etc.. Give us the info .
