240/260z Magazine articles
Yeah I understand your complaint my friend, I think you'd enjoy a article on Simon Degroots 240z turbo it mentions alot about it. I have a couple of articles I've been meaning to scan in for a user in this thread don't worry it's on the way just been really busy. I have alot planned this weekend indoor activity wise so I may get it done then. I might try post them up here so everyone can enjoy them also.:classic:

Hey! We hit 4,000 members today!
Yeah I'm wondering where they all are too??? We get the frequent members as well as the 1 or 2 post members which is a shame maybe some leave the Z scene altogether but at least it's good to know there's a large number of Z nuts out there. This is the best Z site on the net for sure.

Tie Rod problem
My tie rods were of equal length although I did compare them with the originals when I took them out. Kept thinking they were longer but that was just the way it looked. Where did you get your tie rods from? Later 280zx ones are different I believe and most likely wouldn't fit.(not 100% on that though).

I hate to eat my own words but I guess Porsche's are good I did always want one as a kid. It's just the image that goes with it that puts me off and the price tag $$$. Can't agree with the green but they look great in silver and red. Don't worry Alfa I get the point .

What Changed??
I often find the answer is the most obvious that I haven't even considered, can't give you an explanation myself just felt someone should reply to you and feel pity for ya . Could the washers be helping the contact in anyway?

Kart Racing
I've been go karting down at the indoor setup here in Port Melbourne there's another near southland I like the look of. One thing I remember is how much it hurts when your friend hits you hard from behind ouch. I was the best out of my friends(yeah i am showing off). I had heaps of fun used to take it really serious too . One thign I remember is the pain my hands were in afterwards they cramped right up from grabbing the steering wheel really hard and those tight corners. it's also funny how I noticed the grip on my tyres was alot worse after alot of laps. That was my only complaint , some karts were better than others I remember one had awful steering and I hit a wall trying to hard turn to one side. I guess when it's like that you can't complain they need to make $$$ to survive , from what you've told us sounds alot more pro. Keep it up .

Transmission Noise
Now why is it most people you talk to say not to rebuild a gbox or diff? They say there complex etc but I've always thought how so? I guess it's something I should learn especially if I ever plan on racing Z's at a later stage.

You have a good point there Alan, in many ways you are right I judge a porsche on it's "image factor" that you see too many yuppies driving these days. I tend to feel most buy these cars for their wow factor not the driving sensation. I've always felt Z enthusiasts are more the "drive for the pleasure of driving" type. Personally I still prefer the Z's looks but do admit the earlier 911's are a nice car. A friend and I always like well looked after early examples I think it was the late 70's early 80's models that have put me off. I suppose the Z appeals to me because it's everything I've wanted as a kid growing up, I always loved porsches but being young and still studying could never afford a 911. The Z has given me everything I could have asked for from a car and for that I am entirely grateful. You may be right we may be comparing apples and oranges here but I can almost guarantee that the 911 in that picture would probably be worth twice as much as the Z and for what reason I'm not so sure? Still I'm glad that you've given me another perspective to consider.

Hey Rick I wasn't actually refering to the 260z 2+2 but bear with me here. I like the 240z over the 260z 2 seater mainly just because I'm more partial to the rear lights, the 240z dash, some of the badging and the steering wheel and ever so slightly lighter Very minor differences but to me I just prefer the early of the Z cars. Don't get me wrong I still really like alot of the 260z 2 seaters by all means and I am partial to the 2+2's slightly. I'm currently looking for a 2+2 for a friend but most examples have been poor and made me realise the 2 seater is just a better car in so many ways. Don't feel any less towards your efforts on your 2 seater 260z that's just my 2 cents that I like 240z's more.:classic:

Won't Rev past 2000 rpm on the HWY.
Definately sounds electical to me, I put my money on the alternator had a similar problem but when i got mine tested it was putting out ok voltage about 12.5 volts I think. Bought a new battery didn't fix it, but i agree still get it tested and see if anything is obviously wrong. don't think it would be fuel pump never know.

I can't stand the older 911's the Z to me had so much more style. It was sharper, and if not for the price tag I believe a better car. Rear wheel drive is just my preference and there's nothing really exciting about there boxer style engine that just sounds like a VW on roids. The 80's saw ridiculous whale tails(functional on a 911 for the intercooler) but many Z owners emulated this and I personally don't approve much. They are a nice car but I like the Z's dash more the styling of the instruments is timeless especially on the 240z's(not so much 260z for me). However the interior quality of the 911's is admittedly better, the genuine leather is very nice. I prefer the Z's sugar scoop headlights to the 911's style front lights, I look at shop windows when I drive past at night and love seeing those glow . Oh and I really like the back of the Z especially 240z(again not so much 260z). The rear lights are a work of art very similar to that of the alfa's GTV's , they remind me of a Daytona Cobra Coupe at the back without the bumper on, a Etype jag at the front and a 911 on the side. I guess I'm Z nuts but that's just the way I feel I see so many porsche's around I see alot less surviving Z's. It's good to be different and stylish while your at it I think the Z will always be remembered for this . I do like the newer porsche's though must admit very well designed but you do pay a price one that I can't afford at the moment that's for sure. End of rant .

TRUMPETS FOR SU's, WEBBERS, HITACHI's...BRISBANE.
I suppose a drive in the mountains would be great wheather it's to prove a point or just meet another Z nuts. I love it up there and have been many times in my old Z not my new one but the high compression l28 in my 240z really likes to pull up the hills much more than my old L28 in the 2+2. My plans were to fabricate some sort of heat shield and use header wrap anyway at a later date. I don't spose you fabriate good head shields? I didn't look through your gallery because my cable internet has been slowed to 28k for the rest of the money and images cause too many time outs when u have networked PC's in the house. Is it the K+N style filter? If so I am not so fond of these as they have a tendancy to dirty the engine bay up. Thanks for your patience and response anyway much appreciated. Apparently the stock air filter is a bit restrictive but I threw all that into doubt when I saw a friends 240z perform the way it did. :classic:
