Dellorto Vs Weber
on the topic of carbie comparison how about the Mikuni's? The PO of my car was running those but sold the car with the Dual SU's instead. I'm interested in the possibility of using Tripples but still have some faith in the old SU's. :classic:

Vapor Lock
HKSZ has the right idea unfortunately the non cross flow head of the Z makes it vulnerable to vapour lock. Ways around it are as follows. Is your heat shield still on your Z? no PO's have removed it have they? 1.) Install Vented 260z-280z bonnet. 2.) Use header wrap around exhaust manifold. 3.) insulate fuel lines. 4.) replace your 260z cabs with Round Top 240z Style carbs. Just a few things to look at a picture of your engine bay would greatly help with some diagnosis. Sorry it's late and I'm tired I didn't realise it was your Sentra causing trouble not a Z. I don't even know what a Sentra is . Good luck anyway.

300hp?
I thought so but I didn't wanna give misleading info because I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks :classic: . So another words he was saying that the L engine block is very durable and i tend to agree as most other Z nuts will tell you. One review on the Z said the block was bomb proof well I agree it's very strong. :classic:

Shock tower rust. Dangerous??
I think that rust on the strut tower looks ok seems that it's a bit beat up around there which is unusual so try find out why and see from the other side if anything looks bent. It looks like it could possibly be hiding a bit of rust check under battery tray , under spare tyre, behind sills , you should really have a good look under the car. The front valance looks a bit beat up as if the car hit something it would be advisable to check under the front chassis rails for signs of damage this is not an easy are to fix. The sunroof is also a bit of a concern as the unibody structure of the car means the whole car makes the chassis. So another words the roof is a vital part of the cars structure. Removing this is expensive and hard to weld properly. How much is this car and what are your intentions with it? BTW THE LINKS FOR PHOTO'S ARE. http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/01.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/02.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/03.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/04.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/05.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/06.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/07.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/08.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/09.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/10.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/11.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/12.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/13.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/14.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/15.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/16.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/17.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/18.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/19.jpg http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/20.jpg for those still having trouble

300hp?
No I don't believe that was what he meant. I think because the L engine is a smaller capacity motor he refers to it as short block. Better off waiting for someone to explain it who knows the exact definition as I don't really know it myself sorry.

300hp?
Proxlamus the later F54 block is more durable due to extra webbing in the block around the cylinders, both are durable but the later are just a bit better. :classic: . I know a short motor is half a motor ie: just the block. I'm not 100% on the definition of what you'd call a short block or a long block. I've generally heard it used in terms of V8's so it's never been my forte' can someone explain for me also?:classic:

Guess WHat?
Well you clicked so I guess you wanna know, I've been a very bad boy :classic: . My friend just bought a 2000 Honda Integra Type R and he picked me up last night and took me for a drive. Puts the power down and you can feel it suck you back I think hmm this will be interesting I wonder if my Z will keep up. My other friend who we also picked up really wanted me to take out the Z I think he honestly was hoping it would kill my Z as I anihilated him the other night :classic: . Anyway I take her down to the local servo to pump up the rear tyre that keeps going flat. While doing so let my baby warm up before her big night . So we start driving I tell my friend lead the way we get onto the main road and he starts going at it I'm a little more conservative at this point. So anyway come up besides him and we both start going at it and to be honest I'm running away with it. but my clutch has been slipping tonight and it takes a while to get power down but even so I still get him. :classic: That's not it but after that I couldn't help but be a bit naughty all night :classic: . I took on a few cars clutch slipping and all amongst those a motor bike which we were pretty even :classic: . And for the Aussies I put a VL turbo in it's place not just in a straight line but around the corners too :classic: . Had a skyline GTR play with me aswell but he was just a bit quicker :classic: . Overall I'm very happy with the L engine performance she goes very well indeed and sounds awesome. :classic: . I think I'll let her rest now she just had a hell of a day .

Tell Me Yours I Want To Know
HS30 - 10552 L24 - 078080 The car is now fitted with an L28 but still has E88 head. Mostly original except for 280zx gearbox and SuperLite Rims 15X7. The exhaust system is also modified and some suspension mods like Koni struts and poly bushes etc..

Z32 Lust
I've owned a FWD car before trust me you ain't missing out on much. However the little cooper should handle alright being so small and all. I've wanted a range of cars in the past, I've always loved my Z but the little things get me in. IE: Cruise control , AirCon, PWRsteering, Electric mirrors, windows etc.. but I think about it real hard and being a Uni student/Part Tim Sales Person I realise I couldn't afford to maintain one the way I can my 240z. Even if it's hard to maintain the 240z at times I still love it to bits. It's the old story you always want what you don't have, however I'm learning not to be like this or at least try afterall it's human nature. As a daily driver a Z32 would be an excellent car but if it means exchanging your early S30 it's north worthwhile. Just think if you do have to sacrifice one, one day a gleaming shiny S30 will be coming the other direction (Driver Huge SMile and ALL). You will think back and go damn what have I done .

"charging" light?
Sounds to be like the second hand alternator is also playing up either that or it's your voltage regulator. I don't know if 280z's had these or if they were internally regulating like the 280zx. Do you have an aftermarket thermo fan fitted to the car? I did and it burnt out 3 alternators on me so I decided to keep away from them for now until I rewire the whole car probably not likely for a long time. Check the connections on the alternator if they look burnt or very corroded this could be a source of troulbe and I'd say your starting trouble is also likely linked to the charge issue good luck and also I should mention get an auto electrician to do a test on the alternator to see if it's cranking out enough amps. I would have also suggested the battery but you say that's new still it can't hurt to check the fluid level in the battery is up to spec. Cheers

Melbourne Z Shops
Zworx Phone Number : 95875500 http://www.zworx.com.au/ But I don't think they have it most likely Zspares because one of the guys had a 240k there who was putting an L28 turbo in it a while back. :classic:

Emblem Missing ?
I have seen the NissanMatic Badge on that side also. On both 240z's and 260z's, from the sounds of it this was an australian thing possibly a dealer thing also. Hmmm very interesting. Looks to me that the Aussies have seen it but the Yanks haven't. Any europeans know of this badge?
