I like the GT ford's but I'd rather own a Mustang :classic: . Besides a Z looks better than both . Still good to see you appreciate other old cars George :classic: .

I'm beginning to agree with you that it's a gearbox mount it would have all the symptoms of one. It's a good thing I drive my car fairly easy I hope it's put less stress on those parts are a result. On the freeway at 60 miles + there's alot of vibration. It's not fun to drive the car like this. I might have a spare but it's probably just as worn as I think the last car had the same vibration problem. Hence why I thought it might be normal. Do you know if you can just get the rubber bit as oppose to the whole mount? Unfortunately I can't help you with the white 240zg in the gallery. It's a Japanese car that I came across I'll try find the link. I really like the look of his setup too. :classic: I'll hunt for that URL. Thanks for all the quick reply's guys I should have posted earlier.

The gearbox is leaking oil. I keep topping it up and plan on fixing the rear seal soon but I haven't had time. I'm doing my tie rod ends first :classic: . I recently replaced the clutch hose and bled it properly worked fine for a couple of weeks but I think the oil get's low or old. The oil is cheap stuff from the local servo because I figure no point putting good oil in a leaky box. I think it could be a worn transmission mount thinking about it. When I first got the car I noticed that when you accelerate from rest and the engine torques if u let go of the throttle while it's doing this usually if your just getting moving u can feel the whole lever sorta snap back as the engine moves back. <--- Does that make sense??? I know Nissan will charge me 2 arms and 2 legs for a mount won't they? :dead: . The stuttering is worse when the car comes out of tune damn those SU's. I always notice that when they come out of tune one carb starts to suck more than the other. Do you guys know how bad it is for a Z to run untuned? I wanna get her on the Dyno first and get the correct needles and nozzles but I have to tuck away some spare cash for that sometimes being a Uni student really sucks. I'm pretty sure another vibration I notice at higher speeds is a worn out Uni joint on the left hand rear of the car. It happens at higher speeds. but I don't think this is related to the clutch gbox area. Things to do things to do.

Ok my car seems fine to drive most of the time but it has a couple of issues mechanically that are annoying me. I notice when I take off at say lights or from a stop the clutch seems to stutter or vibrate the car a bit and then it picks up and the car drives fine. It's not so bad like that though, it's more when I down gear and I can feel a vibration that I'm sure isn't normal or maybe it is in Z's. It's most obvious if I'm going slow and I have lower RPM's I'm not sure if it's just the car's tuning with the low idle or if it's something to do with the clutch or flywheel. I notice my car is hard to get into gear without feeling very rough but I think this is a case of worn synchro's and not so much clutch. However I thought it might be related. Anyone have similar experiences or problem??? As I said though it's not major just feels wrong.

Damn right dude, I know you just wrote off your car but those spares could be invaluble to you later if you get another Z. I learnt the hard way I parted out a car and wished I'd taken all the small things later that now I can't even get at a wrecker. Like that damn license plate light surrounding damn kicking myself :stupid: . Not trying to take anything away from Tourniqet just passing on wisdom learnt the hard way . It's just a suggestion.

out of curiosity what simmons wheels were they? I really like the B45's on a Z. :classic:

This is what I was talking about. :classic: . I love the polish I'm wondering if I can do the same for my wheels.

The engine head with the square exhaust ports are supposed to be better in terms of flow. This is how the turbo (P90) head was designed and the early 240z heads were (E88) (E31).

So is this the famous metal Gnose? If so can I have one . I really want a Gnose :classic:. Hard to tell if it's metal from the pictures as it looks like there's a bit of white paint on it but I can see a metal like surface on the bottom piece. Wonder what Alan will have to say about this?:tapemouth

Although I'm not 100% i'm fairly sure you can remove the diff without it effecting rollability of the shell. Actually make that 99% as I've never really had to do it but I'm pretty sure the control arms bolt up to the mustache bar which is secured to the shell. The diff should pop right out and cause no problems. I would have done this with my deceased 2+2 but I could not remove the bolts it was mounted to back then. Now I know a few more tricks with firm bolts in the rear end of the car. IE: Using torque to turn them. In case you don't know I use a PIPE which I slide over say a rachet to give extra torque for turning the bolt. I had to do this with a set of CV joints on my old corolla. Otherwise they were just on too tight. Good luck and it might take more than a day to salvage stuff. Just my 2c

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2+2's have a 3.9 or is it 3.7 diff. What's the ratio for our 240z's again? I'm looking for a higher ratio diff. But you might want that. Anyone know if the rear license plate light cover from a 260z will fit a 240z? Mine is cracked and I'm looking for an uncracked one. I'll buy that off you if it will fit and is uncracked. Those windscreen metal pieces are a prick to get out without bending or damaging I tried . Save rubber bungs etc... They are useful. Not sure if the control arms are the same in a 2+2 as the 2 seater they could be usefull. Keep the rear lights they are important for spares. Only leave the shell of the car almost everything has a use or can be sold to someone.

I luv the first one just as Alfa said, it's so low and mean the suspension looks awesome and I like the little lip spoiler I can probably get my hands on one but I'd have to drill it into position if I'm correct. Looks alot like my 240z do you know if those wheels are superlites from the angle it looks like it. I even recently got that kind of vented bonnet on my 240z aswell. I really like it
  15. Well does sound like a good deal. Cheaper than what I paid to get stock suspension fitted to my 260z 2+2. I paid like $700 + for stock struts that didn't include new springs or bushes. I got ripped damn Pedders. Looks like I'll be getting a set of adjustable ones. and I really wanna know if you got the rear control arm bushes aswell, in poly euerathane damn can't spell. I couldn't obtain them here . I could get the front ones though. I've been thinking of importing parts from the US as they have so much on offer for early Z's compared to here in AUS.

My Old 260z had it to cover the cracks in the Dashboard. I didn't put it there but I also didn't take it off. MInd you it had also had the cracks filled with Silicon . . But who am i to judge??? . My new 240z doesn't have one of these mats and I NEVERNEVER plan on putting one on it. The Dash looks ridiculous with it on and that smooth vinyl should be shown off. :cheeky:
  17. To check ratio's in case you weren't aware, you will need to remove the rear cover which means removing the diff. The ratio is printed inside. On the main gear not sure of it's name . That's the only way to know the ratio that I know of.

If you find a car that you would like to look at in Melbourne sometime I may be able to help you at some stage. :classic:
  19. Lucky for you boys I have a sense of humor . Yeah superglue = big no no sorry but I do admit I'm a bit of a perfectionist. What can I say I love my 240z and it's not that other people won't notice it's that I will. mperdue I'm stumped I have no come back but I'll post one when i think of one to match you . SHould never say money is no object cause I is broke :stupid: . Anyway im still in need of that piece of plastic. Cheers.

Feel free to have a poke around and see if our cars take your fancy. Be warned it could become addictive, four years ago I got Z fever . Haven't found a cure yet check out the gallery section there's plenty of nice rides to perve on there. Cheers
  22. Unfortunately the 260z one is different as you actually flick the 260z one down and the whole thing moves. The 240z one is a push button operated one. Nissan haven't made them for years so I'm hoping someone here has one spare. Money for me is also not a big issue but there's still such thing as reasonable price. Mine has the typical cracks due to overtightening. If worse comes to worse I could get ahold of a fibreglass company or plastics place. But I really wanna get that nice and neat. And while were on the topic anyone know where to get the little stickers that tell you what the heater controls do Ie: the ones that say heater / vent etc.. I was thinking of getting a labelling company to make up some. oh and if it's absolutely neccessary I'll use a credit card.
  23. I need the plastic bit that goes around the map reader light. It needs to be in uncracked condition. Willing to pay good price preferably buy it off someone who lives in AUS but will make exceptions depending on price. It's for a 240z I should mention, and I can't pay by credit car either.
