  1. Truth be told I don't hate it we've all seen some pigs on E-bay abondoned like bastard childs . I agree why try and make it look like a Ferrari? I mean the kit is half ZG half Ferrari, Would have looked much better all ZG that's for sure. If you see a ZG up close it does reminisce the word Ferrari, my mates yellow Z has a Gnose and I remember thinking it looked like some kind of old Ferrari X with a porsche. It's in my Gallery called Jack's 240zg. The turbo engine is what I like . Can anyone explain what that piping that came on the ZX Turbo engines really does? I'm talking about that one that goes from the spark plug side and over the valve cover and down onto the intake manifold. I mean was this to cool the manifold? doesn't look like it would do much. Most owners have removed these or they don't exist on most turbo Z's I see so just curious. Anyway I have a habbit of going off topic. All I can say is that I'm glad that Gnose doesn't look like the real deal OEM piece so I don't mind if he cut holes in it.

Never even heard of an 05l head before??? I don't know which engine heads the L20 had but I'm pretty sure I recall something about a E30 engine head. Seems a strange setup is it the L20 six cylinder? If you going to go with an L24 setup I would change over to a early E88 or E31. I've learnt the early E88 were almost identical to the E31's. Also the earliest of the 240z's had about 9:1 compression and the L24 loved to be revved with the 3.9 rear end. :classic: Here in AUS anyway.
  3. Yeah I think there the same commercials on both.

Thanks for that guys, I liked the Dream Garage one . Here's a pic of what I've done so far, I've used some images that Mike provided on this site as well as a Datsun symbol. I also used Flash to give it that cartoonish feel when it's converted to a vector drawing. You see my assignment is to design an advertisement for a product of course I decided to market the Z. I wanted to add people to the picture but I wanted to keep it period like and have a 70's guy and girl but found it hard to locate pictures of people from the 70's on the net. I just feel the add needs something a little more. Gav
  5. http://www.yadamnfool.com/Z_Commercials2.htm here is some old Datsun commercials for the Z car. Alot of it is based on the 280zx but there is some S30 Z stuff to be found on here. Enjoy I've downloaded them all

I'm after pictures of old Datsun posters for the Z car. I've seen a few in the past can't find them at the moment. Does anyone have any links to them? Or photo's they could post up here. I'm looking to make a commercial for a Z as part of an assignment I have to do on principles of Design. Thanks.

  9. I'm pretty sure that the Skyline GTR wheels were 5 stud. If you were in Australia getting these would be fairly easy not sure how you'd go about it in the US. Good luck
  10. Hey don't worry same thing happened to me except I got transmission fluid in my eye yukky to this day I hate the smell of transmission fluid it smells very strange and I always think of how I copped it right in the face. .

I don't see why the other guys T-Shirts are allowed to sell they clearly say 240z and Datsun on them. Maybe it's the official Datsun LOGO? You know the blue and red symbol.

From what you've told us it sounds like a valve has broken or something like it. Do a compression test on all cylinders to determine wheather it's an internal engine problem. The fact that it made an awfull grinding noise when u tried to give it a roll start would indicate something internal on the engine. Anyone else have any ideas????

Well I finally saw CrackerJack. Two things got me about the film 1 was the fact that the 2+2 was driven by Mick Maloy and the other was the apartment they used. It's located in Collingwood and believe it or not I actually did some work on the place with my uncle who's a construction company owner. We erected (yes funny word) the wall that would subdivide the place. You see it was a factory at one stage converted to a house converted into 2 places. The place where we were working from was the one they used in the movie looked a bit different as the furniture was all dolled up but it was actually filmed inside and outside the place. By the way the 260z is heavily featured in the movie as he operates a dodgy car parking scheme. The new movie Bruce Almighty has a 280z 2+2 I believe in it and I'm suer someone has mentioned it in this thread but thought I'd say again in case I was wrong. Cheers

These are very hard to find unmodified in Australia. I've always loved them although a stock one wouldn't be my cup of tea. I've only ever seen 1 510 2door here in Australia and I've always wanted one since. Good luck with her.:classic:

I'm not expert but from the description you gave us sounds like an internal engine problem. That rattling noise could very well be a valve issue, I'm not sure what kind of problem a fly wheel could present but thinking about it the only problem i could see is if the clutch had binded itself to the flywheel. When you say drop the clutch were u actually dropping the thing to get your wheel to spin or just letting it out? If the clutch had binded itself to your flywheel I suppose it could stop the engine spinning freely and cause it to stall. Maybe some more descriptions of where the noise is/was comming from and maybe someone else will be able to chime in and give an explanation. Good Luck.

Nathan you are not asking an unreasonable price. You just haven't found a serious buyer. Don't dispare it's just a matter of time. :classic:

Now not saying you should buy this car and no I'm not the owner :classic: . The rest of the car looks great from the photo's. Sure rust in the roof is not great and repair can warp the roof if not done correctly. I think what it comes down to is what the owner intends to do with the car? My Z has rust in the doors it's pretty bad in some parts but it's not gonna stop me from enjoying it or fixing it up. I think you could use this as a bargaining point for the car. If the rest of the car is structurally sound then I wouldn't worry about a few holes in the roof. Be more worried about the chassis, you wanna check the car hasn't been in a big accident. That's my 2 cents.
  22. Off topic here but there's 2 reasons I like the 240z better than a 260z. 1.) I feel the Dashboard looks better. 2.) I much prefer the 240z rear lights and the way they stick out. There's other small differences but there the main 2.
  23. I think the dashboard is so that all the instruments work with the new engine. Not my taste either but neither is a SR20, sounds like alot of work .
