Do you know if these actually work? The price you've listed it for seems a bit high. I've seen NOS sell for that price (but I'd have to double check to confirm). I know someone with a Fairlady Z in the states I'll let them know about it.

Can you let me know what you want for the door spacer shims? The ones that go behind the hinges etc..? They are in the ziplock bag pictured below. I understand if you only want to sell them complete with the hinges though...If that's the case I may keep looking locally. Yep general rule indeed and only talking about HLS30 prefix cars. HS30's on the other hand appear to have started the transition to later style consoles between HS30 01428 and HS30 01694 but I'm yet to confirm this as 100% accurate. For the record we got the hand throttle all the way up until this change also. But were stuck with the AM radio until 74.
  3. The OEM ones are ever so slightly different, on the rear is a plastic ring where the top of the pull handle goes. There is also some cutouts in the trim to install power windows. I think some S31's in Japan had electric windows or the option but haven't confirmed this yet! Otherwise the trims are very very good reproductions. In fact excellent! The ones in demand/shortage in Oz are the earlier 260z door panels, because the lock position is 15 cm from the rear of the trim. The later 280z style ones have the lock position 25 cm from the rear. Since the 260z 2 seater's were made in such small numbers (RHD especially) it's really hard to find 74/75 260z door trims with the earlier lock position. The eBay link above is for later style trims.
  4. LOL, you will regret that statement. I have plenty of Z-parts to move between the US and Australia. Right now got a contact in California that I send all my eBay purchases to, he's gonna send it in bulk. But I have to stop in Hawaii next time on my way over to LA/SFO for work!
  5. Yes USPS I looked into this and it turns out that the size of the item is just a bit too large and hence bumps it's cubic weight up and that's why shipping is so expensive. Remember Australia is a long flight! I originally tried to buy a set of these in the US and bring them back in check in luggage but the seller in the US couldn't guarantee the items would arrive where i was staying before I left for Oz can't blame them really...

I'm still around, but I manage my own S30z website www.viczcar.com so that keeps me mostly busy there.
  7. I also am not sure of it's purpose. I haven't read the entire build thread but was your car automatic by any chance? Or fitted with air con? HS30 00836 has seen better days but it also has those brackets. But this is the exception as opposed to the rule, other early HS30's don't seem to have it. However my later 73 240z didn't have it. (HS30 102895) So at least it doesn't seem like a production change, rather perhaps an optional equipment bracket of some sort? What I don't know...

Shame to see an early 240z like this, it would be a further shame if it got scrapped.
  9. Kats, I know this thread is very old. However I just came across it and thought it was worth mentioning that yes we did get the blue interior on RHD cars. However it appears only with cars that were painted white externally. I haven't seen any Blue 240z's with blue interior sold in Australia. Not to say they didn't exist but I just haven't seen it yet. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13549-cuongs-hs30-00982/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/2560-240z-dump-or-restore/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/gallery/album/81-body-work/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12106-love-this-photo/?p=144040
  10. I've been in a few 911's - nice and all. Just not my thing. I like being different and I see so many about. I'm in California at the moment and I've seen a lot of Porsche's since I got here, but I NEVER see an S30z on the road (actually when I was in Las Vegas a couple of years ago I saw a rough looking 280z), but I always expect to see more driving around here. Never... which makes me sad. This morning I saw a Silver FD RX-7 (I've got 1 like it back in Sydney) and I got very excited to see an RX-7. Again super rare car here and not many around. The shape in my opinion is intoxicating. Much nicer than anything from Germany at that time even if the 993 is 1 of the most beautiful 911 shapes. The FD owns it hands down in terms of styling, just my opinion. I feel the only car that could replace an S30z for me is an FD RX-7. I feel it's the modern reincarnation of the S30z, the 350z and 370z just don't appeal to me. Yeah it's got a funny motor and all that, but they are not that bad in terms of reliability especially if left well alone by amateur mechanics. My FD can't replace the feeling I get from firing up the 240z though and the sheer joy I get from looking at the S30z shape. If you're feeling a little bored, it's time to start looking at some other countries for inspirational S30z's. For example check out this European spec 240z. Great..
  11. Just putting this link here: http://www.classiczcars.com/gallery/member/8135-take432r/ Because the original link is now broken and I have to spend ages finding the gallery again.
  12. He loves flipping them, not sure he keeps them.
  13. @esprist - are you planning on reproducing early S30z parts like ash-tray's / console parts? It seems early stuff carries a Premium these days and reproduction items would certainly be a great idea for those saving early cars.
  14. Gav240z replied to black gold man's post in a topic in Internet Finds
The car was originally blue, hence the white interior. It's been repainted that shade and as you probably know by 72 920 was no longer a 240z colour option. I love 920 also
  15. I don't think this guy is making these... I've got similar door cards I bought from Japan. Not sure how he's managed to sell them at $400 USD that's cheap...cheaper than it cost me to source these wholesale... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,16328.0.html If you can get them that cheap go for it.
  16. Fubar - I had a similar issue removing stubborn gland nuts. Had to take it to a shop to press them off. Didn't damage like that though...
  17. Further to my annoyance, when is it referred to as a Fairlady 240z, yet it's nothing of the sort. The Fairlady 240z was a home market car only. Not an export HSL30-U car like this is. This Fairlady 240Z is in a class buy its self! A benchmark for the Nissan brand around the world! #1 Most Popular Collector Car Color for any 240Z.....Mexican Orange! 1970 Datsun 240z..... For Sale By Owner...Only 2,000 still exist today 2014.... MUSEUM QUALITY COLLECTORS CONCOURS NEW ONLY 200 MILES! GO FIND ANOTHER 240Z LIKE THIS ONE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! Very RARE Original Air Conditioning option! Very Low VIN# Hl3002631 Original #s matching engine! #1 Benchmark 1970 Datsun 240Z Worldwide For Sale ... Then it says only 2,000 still exist today? 2,000 what? Early 240z's? In what country? If you're going to advertise a car at that price you could at least get some of these details correct. Given the potential buyer some confidence you know what you're talking about...
  18. Ughhh it annoys me it's referred to as "Mexican Orange", when in fact 918 is known as Kalahari Tan.
  19. Gav240z replied to black gold man's post in a topic in Internet Finds
I saw that also, very good selling point. Usually the saddle is worn on most 240z's.
  20. Gav240z replied to hr369's post in a topic in Internet Finds
That is auction starting price, not the actual for sale price. There is quite a few minor details about this car that are not "quite right". Much prefer these 907 Green 432's myself. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15640.msg172528.html#msg172528

Just read through these threads again recently. Hope you don't mind the dumping of this info in your thread, but figure it's useful. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=16036.0 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13263.0.html Be-Zed (Aubes) mentioned car #12 being in Brisbane. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13263.msg142934.html#msg142934 #63 ended up in Perth and was a Melbourne Auto Show display car back in the day. (white w/blue interior) http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,16040.msg169702.html#msg169702 Dale owned #36 back in 97. #39 is at Ledge's shop in South Australia. https://www.facebook.com/CustomAndClassicCars/photos/pb.517478251606641.-2207520000.1438400186./836914396329690/?type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/CustomAndClassicCars/photos/pb.517478251606641.-2207520000.1438400194./807416605946136/?type=3&theater WA Z Register. http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=View_ANZIS30_Register_Cars So let's see. HS30 00004 (Melbourne collector, last I heard... not sure still in AU ). HS30 00012 (Brisbane) HS30 00016 (RB26 with flares non-original car) HS30 00019 (Your car) HS30 00030 (Tasmania - WA Z Register) HS30 00036 (not confirmed still exists) - Have to ask Dale. HS30 00039 (Ledge's shop) HS30 00044 (NSW WA Z Register) HS30 00051 (NSW WA Z Register) HS30 00063 (Perth with collector/enthusiast) HS30 00084 - Great unrestored condition. (link here). HS30 00117 (WA - WA Z Register) HS30 00121 (VIC) - Dimitri (confirmed I've seen his car many times) HS30 00131 (ACT - WA Z Register) HS30 00145 (NSW - WA Z Register) HS30 00149 (Lurch) - Confirmed seen this car before... HS30 00150 (ME) - Confirmed HS30 00151 (Shannon's auctions a few years back, confirmed) HS30 00157 (QLD - WA Z Register) HS30 00165 (Was on CarSales not long ago link here, was butchered, now being turned into a Ferrari GTO replica) - Spoke to new owner. HS30 00181 (SA - WA Z Register) HS30 00183 (QLD - WA Z Register) So we know about 11 cars in total under HS30 00100. Considering some went to NZ, the UK, Australia, possibly ZA (South Africa). Who knows how many more there could be? Not many, and in what shape? Original? Modified for racing? Wrecked? Rusted? Bent? Survival rate is looking like ~10% so far...for the very first cars in Australia maybe less? Under HS30 00200 - we know of 22 cars (1 being turned into a GTO). So again this suggest a 10% survival rate and verification of certain cars is not easy and who knows if the details on WA Z Register are accurate or just details people have entered because they once owned that car. Not necessarily know if it still exists. Between 200-300 there is 7 cars. Between 300-400 there is 6 registered cars. I'm sure I've seen a few more on eBay / Gumtree recently in the 300-400 range, all in very average sad state. All this suggests less than 50 good cars (maybe 10-15 great examples max of original condition cars) in the HS30 00400 range and under. Wow!

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-Coupe-2-door-/141730477569 Same as this car.
  23. Seems to me that possibly the E31 had an issue and it was replaced with an E88. Blown head gasket warped head maybe? There is very little difference between E31 and early E88s just a stamp on the side of the head difference really...

George you mentioned here: http://goce.miskovski.com/blog/2014/01/hs30-00019/ That you passed up on #63 and #86 - as they were in better condition. But better condition doesn't mean much compared to #19. How would you rate those cars compared with #19? Admittedly #19 is pretty far gone compared to most S30z's I've seen for sale, but it's also the 3rd oldest HS30 prefixed car I know of after HS30 0004 and HS30 00016. I tend to agree, although I don't think it will necessarily have to be a Japanese collector. I think S30z's have worldwide appeal and a car like this may just offer a return on investment yet!
  25. Haha, escape from New York, the year is 1997 . I love that film though, not so much Escape from LA.
