  1. The person bidding paid $250k USD for a car which has a market value around that amount. Maybe there wasn't another buyer willing to pay that? But it only takes 1 buyer in any market to sell something. You'll never know if you could have paid less, but it may just have passed in and gone to post auction negotiations, end of the day the car only sells if the seller is willing to let it go at that price. Do we know what the reserve was? Probably not. So it sold because it was at market value for that car. Enough said. Some people don't enjoy the foreplay of bidding back and forth (I don't particularly like it myself). Clearly this bidder bid what it took to secure the car. Well done to them I say.
  2. Yahoo! Auctions does the same, just means no last minute sniper bids. Kind of a good thing.
  3. Yes, the Japanese Yen has depreciated a lot since then. AUD price in 2020 was around ~$645,000 AUD in 2020. (at 1 yen buying 0.015 AUD cents) Today it's closer to $430,000 AUD (at 1 yen buying only 0.010 AUD cents). Problem for us in Australia is we get slugged luxury car tax on anything over ~$80,000 AUD... (33% of anything above that threshold). https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/gst-excise-and-indirect-taxes/luxury-car-tax/how-lct-works So that would add about $115,500 AUD on top of the purchase price. 😞 So close to $545,500 AUD all said and done...and I believe you pay stamp duty when registering the car in your name. So not even on the road at that price.
  4. PS30's or Z432's have been selling in the $300k range for some time, just like their counterpart KPGC10/KPGC110 Skyline GTRs - which have routinely sold for even more and share the same engine (S20)/parts. https://www.facebook.com/GTRRegistry/posts/new-record-price-for-1973-nissan-skyline-2000-gt-r-kpgc110-with-43460km-sells-fo/1513442172144533/ Jan 2023 This was at the height of Covid madness though!

On the topic of the oil cooler, I see 1 on YAJ! at the moment. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f1110675683 Saving the photos here so when the auction ends they will be visible in future. Do you know if anyone reproduces these coolers? They are cool, but not sure about using an old expired part like this - especially contaminated with old oil.
  6. The sunroof and the arse about flare placement with the questionable wheel choice and tacky grille all detract from the car. I would not pay more than $40k USD for what appears to be a slap together car. For what my opinion is worth of course. And 240zGuild has low credibility IMHO. Given his recent past.
  7. Indeed. There seems to be a lot of Pinocchio's selling these cars on auction sites.
  8. What I think many North American's fail to appreciate is that the supply of good LHD cars won't last forever. Therefore automatics, less desirable colours etc.. will all rise in value eventually. We in Australia got a fraction of the cars supplied to North American shores, so in effect we are 20 years ahead of you in terms of the limited supply and pricing of parts/cars/shells etc.. the UK was probably 15 years ahead of us, thanks to their wet weather depleting the cars faster but also their limited supply in the first place. To swap an automatic car to manual is so incredibly simple in these cars it always makes me laugh when a clean rust free (as rust free as these cars can be) comes up for sale and people say to me, oh yeah, but it's an auto.. 🙂 It's far less work to convert to manual than fix a rusty manual car.

Do the oil coolers mount to factory points?
  10. That a fuel pulsation dampener? Guessing it was a fuel injected car? I can't answer the question, but wondering if it was related to fuel pressure and maybe fitting a fuel pump that wasn't quite right?
  11. It's floppy rubber antenna that does it for me..

I want that works style 6 o'clock tach! Lovely piece of kit. Did you have that tach face custom made?
  13. Lucky, we also got the 5 speed 71A in the Fairlady Roadsters here, but the bell housing is different (starter motor on different sides). But as mentioned, many people moved away to 71B boxes and so 71A boxes were kind of discarded or put away. So they do come up for sale from time to time, just getting harder to find bit to service them etc..
  14. 71a 5 speed box? They are getting harder to find, but it's more the internal components that are tricky to source these days, things like synchros etc.. and to fix the gear lever slop is a bit of machine work etc.. to make they feel as new.
  15. I believe that car was made for the Canadian market. It says do right on the car itself.

Hi @kats, Yes the holes don't align. I could modify / re-drill mine to make it work I think. the hub is the hardest part to get. I got outbid last time I tried to buy 1. I see your hub is black. I like it, but I also like the plain alloy look too. I do like your clear horn button too! I actually got my wheel off someone in the US that I've traded a few parts with in the past, and we often are interested in bidding on the same items that come up on Yahoo! Japan. Any help obtaining a hub would be appreciated. However, if you have any photos of exactly how the button attached to the wheel I'd appreciate it. It looks like it may attach to the hub itself through the wheels mounting holes is that right?

Hi Kats, It took me a while to dig this out again. But got some photos today. The horn button is interesting, since it screws into the outer ring. But I can't for the life of me see how to attach the button to the wheel. No holes line up and I can't see how it would attach to the wheel itself. Unless it become more clear once a hub is with it how to attach all 3? But I'm guessing I have a different reproduction wheel/horn to the RS Mach version above? Keen to hear you opinion.
  18. I would say the still born Fairlady 260z with Gnose would be rare...

I thought I replied to this, but can't see it now. Yes HS30s came in those export colours you mentioned. I'm surprised to learn that Universal Blue was not on Fairlady Z series. What about Fairlady 240Z-L? I am sure I've seen them in the darker 903? Is this car the later blue? Different lighting makes it look dark. But I'm guessing it's not 903 and actually 115 metallic blue? https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/39457-blue-paint-code-please-help-me-find-this-color/

I've got the same addiction. I just noticed however your black Ura Mach Wheel has a transparent looking horn button? I recently won a horn button for my black Ura Mach Wheel on Yahoo! auctions but it has a black horn button. Did the black wheels get transparent buttons? Also do you know anyone selling the hub adaptors for these wheels? I recall I found a website in Japan ages ago selling parts for these wheels, but I think they said they had stopped production..

When I inspected HS30 00004 it also didn't have any chalk markings on it. I was a bit disappointed. But maybe special production cars didn't get them?
  23. I'd love to see it also. I'll bet it doesn't mention anything regarding series 1, 1.5, 2 or 3 cars in there either. Haha.
  24. Isn't that correct? There is reinforced steel plates in those corners and the front chassis rails are much thicker than the rear ones.
  25. Even before that it was called Bring a Trailer because they would find good deals on Craigslist that appealed to automotive enthusiasts, but like many of us could only take on so many projects so starting posting about the good/bad of what was on offer in classifieds and what was a 'good deal'. Then they added the auctions after, then it went up market from there.
