  7. Seems everyone is doing the flares and side stripe since the old photoshop rendition I did . Just have to keep those ideas on the down low :classic:
  8. Hi Alan, I'm absolutely speechless well done I'm sure you were given this car because the previous owner knew it would be in correct hands. You have my dream garage. BTW does this set back the 432R replica project?:classic:
  9. Yes my blog is aimed at helping educate others on what I have found. I want to also have some tutorials on modifications such as rear brake upgrades and CV joint upgrades etc.. Yes I have two of those Nissan valve covers I was going to use one to practice my valve cover polishing skills. I can't get to the other one at the moment it's in a workshop. If you really need one of these covers I'm sure I could arrange to get one to you. They both need a bit of work restoration wise though.
  10. Hi mate send me an email at gavindoolan@optusnet.com.au. Are these the same valves as those on ebay? Or are they just the same diammeter?

Yes rust and corrosion often bind the two together with a bit of hammering like Darrel said it should come loose.
  12. Hi mate, yes I finally got the rods you can keep up to date with my progress here: http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/l14-rods-arrived.html I've only managed to get 4 L14 rods but I got them at a good price. I got them for approx $150 AUD. The same guy who got me those is on the look out for 2 more, however if I manage to find 2 more at a good price I'll go with those. I am probably going to be using an N42 head aswell. I have found a guy on ebay who I believe sells performance valves to suit L-series heads at a cheap price. They are stainless valves also. I'm not sure what the largest valves are that you can fit on an L head without major modifications.
  13. I think the non-diamond vinyl was introduced later in the Z's life say 74 260z and 280z onwards. As far as I'm aware the early 240z featured the diamond pattern. Quite a few suppliers have the non diamond pattern I see them on ebay too. However people rarely bid on them.
  14. haha I'm with you on that one. I remember watching it and the mods they did to the induction system made my head spin. Removing the Twin SU's was the first big mistake they made. At least the cars looked respectable, even though one was burning a decent amount of oil from memory.

    Different rod combination???
  16. My Z has a spring to hold the dipstick down tight. Basically the spring is secured under one of the screws which is in the block. I can hook and unhook the spring from the dipstick lever relatively easily. I don't know if it helps with pressure or anything like that, I would say yes, but I think the PO put it there just to keep it from moving around or coming loose and I see no good reason to remove it.

  18. Hi Joseph I received my stub axles from Zkid however I'm not sure when I'll get around to installing them yet. I want to get new rear wheels bearings and possible convert to rear discs at the same time. If your not in a hurry I'll keep you in mind when I finally do make the swap. In all honesty I have been so busy I haven't even checked if my Z already has the 260z style ones. Cheers, Gavin.
