After Market Seats - Recaro's
Hi Ken thanks for that, I had sort of come up with a similar idea in my head. I am thinking of making up some measurements and then building the rails to suit. I really like what you have done with your car and the cloth you chose well done top job.

After Market Seats - Recaro's
I gave them a call looks like another $300-$400 just to get the brackets made up and new set of rails. I've had a look at using the original rails but due to the the fact that the Recaro's rail locations are about 2-3inch further apart the rears will definately need redrilling and im not sure if there is enough steel left there. It's hard to explain but I think I have to draw it all up on draft paper with measurements and plan it.

My New Recaro's
Thanks mate I've been a bit unsure as of late to be honest. I've always liked the UO017 seats that were an optional factory performance part. My sister like me likes the original seats and thinks that these "are less cool". I understand where she is coming from I went through the same though process myself. "To recover or to replace" that was the question. I got these at a good price and the more I think about it the more I realise they are neccessary for the type of driving I enjoy doing in the Z . Cheers

After Market Seats - Recaro's
Hi everyone, This thread is probably more to do with Australian Road laws and such but If you have any good ideas feel free to suggest them. Recently I bought a set of Recaro's(See my gallery). I have pulled the old seats out and done a few measurements(don't have those here). The seats should fit fine but the rails I have will either require redrilling of the seat mounts(attached to the floor) because they are longer and wider. The Vicroads website requires that the car mst be inspected and given a certificate of approval for a change in seats that are not offered by the manufacturer. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/vrne5nav.nsf/childdocs/-6F89CFC1046661B5CA256FD300241BFA-E4CFA420ED0C17EBCA256FD300241C06-20A4F4183BEE40ADCA25700300139ABB?open I am wondering what others have done? Did you make a custom bracket? Did you reuse the original rails? I am assuming you should use high tensile bolts. Just want to get some ideas of how you guys went about it or if there is a bolt in solution. :classic:

Yeah funny you should say that I went up into the Mountains on 5 and at one point i looked at my girlfriend to see how she was going and I could see her bouncing around on her seat. It was one of those had to be there and see it to understand thing. . I was hoping the Recaro's would help, oh well at least there not sagged like my stockers are. :stupid:

JDM Z Nostalgic type videos!
Yes Bill your right the image of the video is messed up, it's very low quality probably because it's a fairly long video. Try reducing the size of the view window to as small as possible.

Umm Hi Hi
Hi again guys. First things first, I installed my Tokico 5 way adjustables and wow what a difference. The car is so firm I'm not sure what springs I have but if they are the same King Springs as most people have I'd say they are 180 lbs. Although they might be 200 lbs+ I'm really not sure but I do recall some text written on them when I pulled them out that looked like 200 and something. I'd defaintely recommend , good thing you can adjust them as it's pretty firm almost too firm. I decided I definately needed racing seats to go with the firm suspension and I bought a set of Recaro's that I'm going to try and see if I can install tonight. The cruise went really well but it was really too dark to get any decent photos of the night unfortunately. We had about 7-8 Zeds show and 20 other cars like 510's and bluebirds and other datto's. :rambo:

JDM Z Nostalgic type videos!
Those videos are great I've seen them before though. I especially like the one with the ZG and the 432R and Roadster very cool stuff. Bill does that video give you a better opinion on the Gnose? It should . Anyway I found this video last night I really really enjoyed it. It's not a Z but it's basically just as good. It features John Morton when he was racing the 510 against the Alfa's and BMW's. They started the season late and won even when out numbered and out budgeted http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/movies/Against_All_Odds_176x144_15fps.wmv

put my eibachs on correctly this time
Looks great those Konig Rewinds fill the guards better than I would have thought they could. How wide are they? Have you done anything special to get it to fill the guards better?

Umm Hi Hi
Hey fellow Aussies we are having a cruise in Victoria tomorrow night for any Datsun/Nissan Enthusiasts I believe it will be mainly a group of 510 ers and S30's. Details are here: http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=97 I will be sure to take as many pics as possible. I have to duck back into the garage now to finish my Tokico install for tomorrow night. Cheers
