240z conversion commodore VL turbo HELP!
Try searching our forums for RB series engines. There are a couple of members who are going through this and I'm sure you can get an idea of the work involved. Your looking at 10k minimum to do it properly I think.

Can I run only a glasspack and sound OK?
I have dual pipes with 2 glasspacks that are now what I would consider worn out. It is very very loud and probably doesn't help engine performance because there probably needs to be more backpressure. I would recommend an exhaust system using a high flow resonator and a turbo muffler. I'm not changing my set up until I've built my stroker then I'll research the most efficient system to suit my motor. I would say yes it will sound ok but it will probably be a bit too loud.

Info/pics on a Brisbane car (Gee?)
The bumpers are split into 5 pieces at the corners are elbows that have been modified to sit that way. I know because I was going to do the same thing on my 260z. However I didn't like the look of it so I just took the bumper off altogether. I wouldn't recommend it myself it kinda looks funny/strange.

Can't remember if I explained mine shouldn't really be neccessary though. Gav = Gavin 240z = One of the loves in my life . I guess I picked this name because I don't really go in for the internet name alias thing.

Battery Dead after a few days.
Yes I had a feeling this could be the case. I suspect the stereo because I've sometimes got into the car and found the FACE of the stereo to be doing strange things like flickering. I thought it was strange but didn't put the two together properly till I started to type out my original post. I thought my stereo was just a bit faulty. I think you could have solved my problem I'll let you know how I go. Obviously the drain is as strong as the charger since it wouldn't charge for 24 hours then as soon as I diconnected the battery from the car she charged fine overnight. I'll be sure to post my solution once I find it. I'm pretty sure I have a multimeter somewhere in the garage. :nervous:

Battery Dead after a few days.
I don't believe I have wired it that way. I remember setting it up off the remote wire from the stereo. This is the amp we are talking about yeah? I'm thinking that possibly the amp is playing up and maybe that's how it's drawing the power. Either that or one of the power wires has become exposed at the solder point and is now grounding. I'll take a closer look tonight if I get a chance. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Battery Dead after a few days.
I recently bought a new battery because my old one would go flat after several days of sitting. Since I haven't been using my Z all that much and getting transport to work it sometimes sits for a week or 2. I've had to jump start it so I got a new battery however it appears the problem remains. I don't mind buying a new battery since I think the old one was fairly old anyway. I borrowed a trickle charger off a friend and set it up to charge over night. It didn't reach full overnight and all day yesterday so i disconnected the battery from the car and what do you know the battery was full this morning. I'm thinking it has something to do with my stereo like my amp is staying on or there is an electrical short and it's slowly draining the battery. I guess I'm asking to see if i could be wrong. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or if there is anything I should check for. I haven't really changed the wiring on the car it's just something that started to happen. Come to think of it my stereo has been acting a bit funny lately. Feel free to throw in some opinions or suggestions. Also any trouble shooting advise would be appreciated. :cheeky:

how to soften ride for a 240
I completely agree also. As soon as a friend of mine put 17" rims on his Z with low profile tyres the whole car became very rough in terms of ride quality.

Konig Rewind photoshop
I personally don't like the Rewinds. I think the style is fine but I much prefer the look of either Minilites, Superlites, Watanabe(of course) & Panasports. Personally I have the superlites they look alright but my preference is for Watanabe's then Panasports. There is a guy who was at the Nationals advertising Panasports can't remember who though. I think black centre's are cool with the polished lip section. Gold is a bit tacky on a red car IMHO then again I'm sure it works on some Zeds. If you do get Konig's get them with the all polished look.

Hi Joe, I'm very interested in what your trying to achieve here. I too have been wanting to buy a set of Watababe's 16X9 for my 240z. I would like to avoid cutting the guards much like you. Can you tell me where you got them and if you don't mind also what they cost? Cheers

Who are you??
Mine should be in the member mugshots section. Have you looked there?

Save S30-0002
Just a thought but you know how everyone says these cars were made in a strange order. As in never in 1,2,3,4 sequence more like all over the place. What if S30-00002 was started in 69 but sat in the production line till 72? Perhaps she was forgotten for a while or put on hold for quality reasons? Being #2 there could have been several quality issues to take care of. Then with the popularity of the Z someone probably said hey we have this car sitting around let's finish it and sell it. Doesn't exactly explain the welds but could be an explanation. *JUST A THOUGHT*
